      Especially considering that I'm so far more interested in the upcoming gigabyte 4k 240hz 32" OLED rather than the Asus one. Because the Gigabyte monitor has similar specs like Asus, BUT Displayport 2.1 UHBR20 ! So as soon as nvidia gives us GPUs with 2.1 UHBR20 as well, we can disable DSC and keep that 4k 240hz

    Thank you for the quality content, Tim! Spend a good few months agonizing over what to get to replace an old 4k 28" 60fps Asus that served me decently for both work and gaming for over 5y, before pulling the trigger on a Samsung Neo G7 based on your reviews. Got lucky with a flash sale that allowed me to snap it up for just 550€ (tax included), and I've been very happy with it for the past two months. Thanks again! 😀

    From the UK here. I previously had the Gigabyte m28u, which i had bought for £530, it was a good monitor but had alot of inverse ghosting, which was quite annoying while playing cod:warzone. It also had a dead pixel, luckily i noticed it and was able to return it as it was within it's 14 day returns period. I now have the LG 27GR93U - literally perfect monitor for the price of £420 from amazon. Monitor seems to have less inverse ghosting( i haven't really noticed it). Thanks to Monitors Unboxed, for having provided the videos in respective to these monitors and helping me make my purchase decisions.
    Additional note: LG seems to have better warranty support in the UK than Gigabyte, it's also 2 years.

    $1300 can get you an upper midrange PC, these monitors are still nowhere near accessible to the general public as of right now. Maybe in 3-5 years when the prices has halved will it be reasonable for many buyers.

    • @MrM-dl5zm
      @MrM-dl5zm Před 2 měsíci +2

      $1300 monitor is not for general audience, 4K gaming is very niche and "luxurious" option that only few can do. Even if the monitors were for $100 you still need high end PC to push the 4K resolution at high frame rates at high details. RTX4090 that costs more than these top end qd oled monitors will push less than 30 fps for example in alan wake 2 or cyberpunk at 4K HDR raytracing max details.

I got one for $500 about a year ago (rtings reviewed it well) while I waited for better true HDR options and I’ve been happy with it. Not sure what they sell for worldwide but might be worth reviewing to give folks another 32” 4k option. Color accuracy is good, motion clarity is good and brightness is solid. The LG mentioned here was $1000+ at the time which was way too much

    I had my Odyssey neo g7 for about a month now and it's great. I had it for 650 in UK (british pounds) so a really good deal. The curvature doesn't bother me at all for programming and it's good for gaming. I was on a curved screen 1500R before though so I might've adapted. The problem my unit has is the dark level "flickering" or "smearing" when on lower refresh rates (at or below 60hz). Can be mitigated by lowering the strain on GPU to generate more frames or use VRR control but allegedly it introduces microstuttering (I did not properly test it). The other problem I see is with the local dimming zones - white text on black background is not too bright and the white background on the other part of the screen is insanely bright. This limits the usage of black themes in text editors or when browsing. Can be mitigated by using gray or non-black backgrounds.
    Overall I'm happy and I'll stick with it until it die - had 1080p screen for over 5 years and if not for my programming work I wouldn't change it for sure, but 4k for coding is just so much better.

      I’ve just got a neo g7 too. I’ve had some issues with flickering, mostly caused by dual monitor setup and lame nvidia Linux drivers. But horizon forbidden west with a 60fps target seemed to exhibit legitimate panel flicker. Turning the refresh rate to the 120hz mode seems to have fixed it completely though.

    I've just come back to this and I would very much like you to do a companion piece on non-gaming (i.e. 60 Hz) monitors to pair with these. Panels on which you can put chat, monitoring tools, walkthroughs, and whatnot. For 27" 4k I can recommend you look at the Lenovo L28u-35, but I don't know about 32" or larger.
