    Sony should have made a Tesla style extra large screen to cover the entire space. There is too much plastic leftover on either side. Not liking the look, Dasaito and T9 look better IMO.

      I am with you on this. While the overall "clean" look is really nice, especially if you have a Limited, I feel there is too much wasted space on the sides. Not fully sold on the 9" either. I do wonder if the head/media units for the 2020+ work for the older 5th gens.

      @TrailGridPro  Před 3 lety

      @@jimgleason3062 Totally understand! I believe you can make the 2020+ head units worth in conjunction with adapters, however the unit itself goes for around $2,500 unfortunately.

    Is there a video that show the cable hookups better? For a non-auto person it was done super fast with no explanation. Also, I have two cables coming from my dash that didn’t have places to plug into the kit. I’m guessing one was my factory mic as it’s not reacting to me when I ask Siri something.

    • @TrailGridPro
      @TrailGridPro  Před 9 měsíci +1

      There's no easy way to get the factory wiring down from the mirror to behind the head unit. The easiest thing to do is to add an aftermarket backup camera system to the kit and that way you'll have the backup camera image in your head unit.

    Looks like an awesome bundle with a super easy and clean install. I am drawn to this particular receiver as I do not have an integrated JBL amp (or aftermarket amp) in my 2016 SR5 Limited and as such am not doing any justice to my aftermarket Focal F+R speakers. Is it unnecessary to install an amp wiring kit that connects to the main battery as this head unit has a built-in internal amp rated at 45 watts RMS/100 peak x 4 channels? If not are you still drawing enough juice to safely and sufficiently power the unit to get the most from the built-in amp itself?
    Really wish Sony gave the screen size of the 8000 with the amp output of the 7000 but oh well.
    Thanks in advance for your time!

    • @TrailGridPro
      @TrailGridPro  Před 3 lety

      Great questions! You know what, we also kind of wish the 8000 had the power of the 7000 as well, but if it did - it would certainly be more expensive.
      You’ll still need to connect to a battery to install an amp for sure. I get that question a lot so it makes sense your curious!

      @@TrailGridPro Appreciate the reply. The original question, to be more specific, is whether or not you guys use or suggest using an *amp wiring kit from the main battery that connects to the 7000 as the 7000 has a pretty powerful built-in/integrated amp* (for those of us who do not have a existing aftermarket or OEM JBL amp)?

    • @TrailGridPro
      @TrailGridPro  Před 3 lety

      @@jasonbecker9181 Ahhh, thanks for clarifying. No, you absolutely do not need an amp wiring kit if you're running our 7000 bundle. You won't need to connect it to the battery. It'll do just fine pushing the power on its own. Sorry we misunderstood your question the first time!

    • @TrailGridPro
      @TrailGridPro  Před 3 lety

      Goof question! There is not a plug and play way to use the factory microphone.
