As proud owner of the first Gen, it’s alarming that Toyota is not covering warranty claims for people who take their cars to the race track. They are not standing by how they are advertised.
how would they know if someone just takes it to a track?
@@MonkeyKong21 Vehicle operation history can be checked through Toyota’s diagnostic software.
Sorry to burst your bubble but I don't think any car manufacturer covers track use.
It's like smartphones with water resistance and not covering water damage
@@ziich1 but what if a company makes a waterproof phone and all their ads are people on the beach splashing the phone?
@@MonkeyKong21 there are so many examples. Sony showing someone take a call in the rain. I think there was even a OnePlus one that they did a water resistance test where they put a phone under water for 30 minutes
Too bad Toyota will void your warranty for Autocrossing even though they include a free track day with the car. I guess this is so you can void your warranty immediately!
It’s funny how they’re not replying to comments that are mentioning this. I hope they get screwed with a class action lawsuit for this behavior.
They learned it from Subaru who installed a rev hang in the wrx so you have to void your warranty in order to remove it with a aftermarket tune. The car is literally undrivable otherwise!
@@hellatightdude they refunded the engine. only took 7 days? most refund problems like this in history have taken as long as 6 months
@@invertedv12powerhouse77 yeah it’s funny what social media backlash will make a company do. Put their ass to the fire and all of a sudden they start making moves.
If it wasn’t for the roast, they never would have refunded/replaced his engine.
lol they're a business just remember that they want money
Toyota, how could you sell your GR products with a free track day and 12 month NASA membership and when someone makes a warranty claim during that period, you don’t honor it? You advertise your GR cars on the track, heck you even have a color named Track bRed and yet you won’t honor warranty claims when someone autocrosses it with the membership YOU provided.
I have an allocation for a GR Corolla that I’m seriously considering rescinding. Is this really how Morizo-san’s company treats customers behind the scenes? What a disappointment.
For those who want to see the post involving this issue, I can’t link in this comment section but search for “Toyota GR86 engine warranty claim denied because of autocross usage”.
Thanks for the information! I was so hyped to get a new GR86 but with the warranty being SUS I'd rather wait for an official statement and not some PR statement. Bummer that Toyota is literally going against the whole point of the GR86. I mean if I wanted a new sports car not for drifting, I would get literally anything else. I went down the rabbit hole to see how big of an issue engine failures caused by RTV sealant getting sucked into the oil strainer is, and it is common sadly.
Can you link it i'm interested
@@MJT-DA I can’t link on CZcams without getting my link removed. Just search for “Toyota GR86 engine warranty claim denied because of autocross usage” on CZcams
Look at my Dream Car go.The GR86 has the look like “I’m Ready To Go Have Fun” I can’t wait to get my dream car one day it doesn’t matter if it’s a Gt86 or a GR86.Thanks Toyota for keeping the 86 family alive and strong.
We'll be the first to congratulate you on your new Toyota when the time comes, James! 🥳 Thank you for your love and support. 😎
Mine too,
We will buy it one day for sure bro.
Good Luck.
I'm trying to test drive one now but it's impossible! The dealerships require you to reserve them first. One day I'll drive it, and if I like it more than my Camaro I will gladly buy one!
Bro, a minimum wage worker can afford an 86. Just buy one already
Not trying to bust your balls but your dream car is 86?? come on dude, it's the 21th century, dream car should be a tesla model 3 P.
So glad that Toyota's getting back into sports cars! I love what they bring out and this looks amazing!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us, Brian! We can't wait for you to experience all the GR86 has to offer. 😍
This is really a Subaru not a Toyota. And the Supra is infamous a restyled BMW Z4...
But the new GR Yaris, and GR Corolla have my respect... Would not mind a Morizo Edition myself!
@@bliglum ok, so what’s wrong with that, if it’s a good car. Honestly is Italian car enthusiasts are like you people then they wouldn’t survive. I haven’t seen a single fiat fan complain about their new 124 spider being a Mazda
@@30hours51 What's wrong is that it's disingenuous, a misrepresentation. And the 124 at least has that throaty Abarth heart. With uniquely Fiat styling.. If it was a Miata through and though, you probably would've heard more complaints. Or heard about how poorly it sold.
@@toyotausa oh yeah this is me next car no doubt
Proceed with caution, there’s plenty of examples turning up on the 86 forums with silicone/RTV sealant pieces clogging up the oil intakes
Even worse, Toyota isn’t honoring warranty claims when their cars are being autocrossed even though they’re selling them with a free track day and 12 month NASA membership. Pretty disgusting what Toyota is doing behind the scenes to their customers.
@@hellatightdude I’ve got a 1st gen BRZ. Subaru just covered my valve rocker arm failure free of charge 7 yrs out of warranty! I think the GR86 looks a lot better but I’d be tempted to go Subaru again because of the support if I go the 2nd gen.
Then again I think I’d wait until the sealant issue is acknowledged and corrected in manufacture.
@@peejayem4700 I’m glad they honored yours. It seems like the safe bet at this time is to go with the BRZ instead of the GR86 since Subaru is actually treating their customers right. If your curious about the situation I’m referencing, just look up “Toyota GR86 engine warranty claim denied because of autocross usage”.
@@hellatightdude ikr nobody seems to be mentioning that important information except you thanks bro
I’ve had my GR86 for just over a week now. I went from stalling every stop to taking off as if I was in an automatic and I’ve been loving this car so so much. Absolutely phenomenal second car. Can’t wait to finish the break in period. I’ve already had 4 people try and race me 😂

@@ianlerma8110 Careful now. You Tube is under my protection. He is my bf.
@@ACommenterOnCZcams ok?
Nice car but are we just going to ignore the fact that they are advertising a track car but they replace your engine under warranty if you use it for track car purposes such as drifting
Exactly, they want to brag about track ability then freak out once it hits a track?
PLEASE get Toyota/Subaru to release a Corrective Action on the RTV silicone clogging up the oil pickup tube strainer. There is way too much RTV silicone being applied from the factory and pieces are breaking off and clogging up the oil pickup tube strainer enough to damage engines. PLEASE get Toyota/Subaru corporate to fix this issue and use simple gaskets!!
It will probably take a class action lawsuit and a mandatory recall for Subaru to repair the rtv problem.
Buyer beware. Toyota markets the car for the track, gives you a free track day and then they void your powertrain warranty if you actually take it to the track. Get a Subaru instead.
It’s funny how whoever moderates this channel is ignoring all negative comments while only responding to positivity. As if covering your ears is just going to make the issue disappear. Classic 5 year old approach I guess.
That IS a Subaru LOL
Engines blowing left and right in these cars. Then toyota has the nerve to deny warranty claims if you drove it like a sports car and especially if you used the free track driving experience they give you for free when you purchase the car.
They're not blowing left and right. They did walk that back though, they replaced the guys engine in warranty
@@ElAndresRodriguez There are at least a dozen blown engines between the US and Japan so far. Seems like a high percentage of people that actually track the car like it is intended. I uses a bore scope to look inside the oil pan of my 22 and it looks like shit. There is silicone all iver the place in the oil pan. This is a bigger problem than you realize.
It’s a flat-4 from Subaru.
Even if it’s well looked after, it will likely still suffer headgasket issues later in life and will be a nightmare to work on.
@@attananightshadow That stereotype died years ago. The entire FA series of engines, turbo or no turbo have been nothing but reliable. If you want to talk about unreliable take a look into that VR30 engine and every BMW powered machine ever. The worst japanese quality surpasses the best "german engineering".
@@ElAndresRodriguez if you are talking about the CZcamsr that made a video and blew up Toyota was forced to do something what is it was a normal guy who doesn't have a voice in the Internet ? would they replace the engine?
As someone who overlooked the gt86 for its styling, I absolutely love the new one. The only gripe I have is that I really wish they would've added a double wish bone / multi link ifs rather than the McPherson. The rear already has the multi link / double wish bone, I know they had to keep cost down for a sporty yet very affordable sports car ; also considering the flat 4 they used is not a narrow engine by any means so space is a challenge to say the least. But it could be just that much better for us tuners and builders
What about the RTV silicon in the oil? Looking at one but afraid of the RTV over spray and stuff.
I really want one but the reliability and warranty claim issues have me holding back!
Thank you for re-releasing this for 2023! Seriously! Hopefully I can get one next year! ♥️
We appreciate the love! ❤️
Problems with oil pan being over sealed and the silicone gets into the pick up tube in the oil pan causing motor to seize up watch out all cars are over applied in it do your oil
Change use a scope look in the pan you will see
Maybe ramp up production a bit? I've been waiting for nearly 6 months, and my local central Florida dealer has only had a single 86 which came, and went just a quick..
Haha bro same here also looking for a brz or even a civic si any dealer that gets one either has it at 5000 over msrp or automatic transmission(I’m in south Florida)
Hoping when the gr Corolla comes out it makes more availability for the gr86
@@AK-gb9rp Bro the fact that they're all automatic down here is so infuriating lmfaooo it's actually crazy
The entire auto industry is like this right now
@@spacetoast7783 I know. It sucks.. Saw a story about a new F150 lightning the other day, with a dealer markup amount actually a larger figure than the entire truck's MSRP!!! 60K truck, with a 70K markup, for a total of 130K.. Absolutely bananas.
Here in Houston, TX nobody has one either, all say a wait time of 3-6months for the manual
Awesome. It is simply amazing Toyota can combine this much quality, performance, and fun at this price point. You can't row your own gears in an EV. You are looking at a future classic right here! Well done Toyota. Well done.
As a gt86 owner im so happy this car got a second generation! And it looks soo good too! Would love to add one of these to the books😁
oh boy i would absolutely love owned a GR86 when i get older
can you guys make these cars more available for dealerships? Nobody wants to pay 10K above msrp for this car
Getting mine this week 👌
will you have stock? pre-ordered a 2022 back in January. still waiting...
Trying to sort out some car trouble in the family 03 corolla and I can't wait to buy a gr86 right now
I've had mine for 8 months now. I really like it. Pretty quick, could still use more power. 275 hp would bring this car right where it needs to be to match how it looks. The interior plastics are not really that good scratching up too easily. Road noise is a bit much. A better sounding stock exhaust should be considered. The fake engine noise, do without it, so I disconnected it, added a nice aftermarket , it sounds good. The shark fin on the roof takes away from the lines and styling. Overall a nice sports car, however Toyota left some things on the table. HP, and better quality cabin materials.
How about making some more manual transmission ones? I've been waiting almost 6 months to get one ordered.
I would like an additional trim that maybe offered a nicer infotainment system and software. Maybe some rgb lighting integration. And some more GR badging on the car in whole. Accented color swats would be awesome as well
beautiful car def one of my favorites ever. im proud of my buddy who owns a 2022 model ,he deserves it
Thanks for sharing the GR86 love! ❤️
I love it a pure example of the perfect sports car! nice job toyota team!
We appreciate your support! ❤️
Can you please offer a big brake red Brembo GT factory option? That would be much more appreciated than orange paint. Also why is it so hard to find the TRD or GR accessories in North America, when they are available in Japan?
Can’t wait to be put on a year long waiting list 😁
I like this new design than the previous one, flawless roundy smooth design.
We're glad you like it too! ❤️
Can't wait to own one! Thanks Toyota for keeping the 86 alive and strong... this has been my Dream Car for awhile now 👀😎
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us! Team GR86 all the way! 🏎️ 🏁
Rage Your Dream *intensifies*
Make more premium manuals. I have been waiting for 8 months now.
wait for it, i heard it is an amazing car.
I couldn't handle waiting more for my premium so I put myself on the base model as well I don't care anymore as long as its manual
@@Flamb0w he market is so good, you can order a premium for 23, and sell this car for even. USA has no cars, it will an easy sell. I would just order one

Someday I will get myself an 86, be it a new or original one I will get one, such a stunning looking car
That's awesome, Matt! We can't wait for you to experience all the GR86 has to offer.
How that oil pickup look?
looking packed with rtv
I can't wait to get one of these, the 86 has been on my radar for a while now! Thank you for keeping the family alive!
You've got excellent taste, Fern! 😎 Thank you for your support!
@@toyotausa Meh, nothing will ever look as good as the 2016 Subaru WRX---for the price point.
I want one of these so bad!! A green one!! ☘️
Can you please ship a few more Premium Manual Halos to Oregon? Been waiting since November...
That orange edition looks 🔥.
Why isn’t the premium audio available in the manual transmission model?
So nothing changed between the 2023 and 2022 base and premium models?
Have this on PO. Can't wait to get it.
Close to get mine tomorrow 🤞🤞
Love what this car represents, please give it the new GR Corolla engine for 2024 or 2025, and offer TRD carbon fiber fender, hood, carbon fiber bucket seats, rear deck, and aluminum control arms
All these wheels, brakes, carbon fibre lips available in Japan - from presumably your own company's CZcams channel?
Toyota: Hey kid, (opens trench coat) wanna buy a Subaru??
Talk about stepping up your game across the board. All these new redesigns look amazing!!
Now can we talk about what happened to the Supras interior? It has all the passion of an electric razor.
But do you cover your warranties? 🤔😡
Too bad my local dealer wants 5k "Market Price Adjustment." Biggest dealer in the area too
comment their name so we can shame them
4:28 and to camp and sleep in! Theres a YT video of a Japanese guy camping in his GR86. Pretty cool!
wondering if 2024 gr86 will have any new changes
Best combination of reliable and fun and punchy car great job Toyota 😎
We love hearing this! 😍 Thank you for sharing your GR86 thoughts with us!
Thank you Toyota! I’ll buy a 86 when I graduate college next year! Hope the Manual gearbox is always here to stay!!
Keep us posted! We'd love to congratulate you on your new ride. 😊
Did you buy it?
so whats the difference between 2022 and 2023
There is no difference. They call it the 2023 since they're gonna have a 10th anniversary edition 86 that's orange and only making like 800 of them
2023?! i still haven’t got a confirmation on my 2022 allocation 😅
Nice
Can you please share what your plan is to resolve the manufacturing issues that result in oil starvation? Great car, but if an engine only lasts 13k miles, buyers should beware. Especially if y’all don’t honor your warranty.
I’m still waiting for the dealer to tell me mine has come in. I watched this video to see if there were any differences between 2022 and 2023. Anyone notice any? 🤔
Love my 2022 GR86!
We're thrilled to hear that you love your GR86, thanks for sharing! ❤️
Gr86 love is real 😍
I was lucky to find one of these 1500 miles away in 😍Neptune Blue😍 it’ll be getting shipped to me next week!
That's so exciting! Keep us posted, we'd love to see photos when your GR86 arrives! 😍
Is Toyota issuing a recall for the RTV issue? That’s the only thing keeping me from purchasing one. Would love an update.
Imagine how much it would mean to people if you just built the god damn engine yourself
Thank you Toyota for creating this vehicle and keeping it affordable!
Thanks for the love, it means the world to us! 🙌
How do u drive it

Toyota has to absolutely do a recall on the excess rtv on the oil pan. It will be cheaper on their end as opposed to replacing blown up engines. Do the smart move toyota don’t blow up( no pun intended) your reputation.
I'm starting to like this car within glance
Look so amazing, I love it so much.
We love hearing this! What would you say is the most impressive feature of the GR86?
I just wish I can get my hands on one. Can’t find one in any dealership in my state
look outside the state. There won't be any in-stock without markup, but you might get lucky and find allocation coming in soon. Or place an order for BRZ and get it in 4 months.
I love this 86.
But I love my Yaris.....GR
Australia release when?
Y put out promotions video when you can't keep up with demand...
Getting this car later this year.
Very Nice Sports Car👍👌🏁🚗💨!
Owner of a mk5 Supra, why couldn’t the Supra get functioning vents 😭. Toyota did a great job with the 86. I get pretty hyped seeing the car on the road. It’s a great entry level car for someone looking to get a fun daily.
track ready but you're not ready to warranty track ready use?
My 2023 GR86 Premium is coming either next week or the week after! I can’t wait. Is there any difference between the 2022 and 2023?
price
other than some new options and price no
Is this basically a new BRZ / FRS?
Why did the bZ4X cross the road? Because its wheels fell off and rolled to the other side.
what about the Silicone problem that getting a lot off people in trouble, what is Toyota and Subaru doing to fix the problem?
After one year from purchased they will say parts not available
Too bad it’s so darn hard to get one - and if you do the dealerships tack on these insane “market adjustments”. Really depressing. I’m just tempted to go to Subaru and just order a brz.
Are these things still blowing up due to poor QC?
Toyota please address the silicone issue, I don't want to regret my purchase
You guys better address the RTV silicone issue
Beautiful car😍
