Krita is such an amazing program! The vector functionality is still a bit clunky right now, but still very powerful. Inkscape is a rather difficult program to work with, but it will do the job to create some basic shapes to create composites from.
Two things I hope Krita can still inprove is the docker for the vector library (I would prefer a grid view without labels) and for Krita to offer the ability to create these libraries and add objects to existing ones.
So cool! Now I can create my own library with speech bubbles for my comics )) Thank you!
Wonderful! just let me know how it goes //RM
Thank you Ramon for inspiring us to make even better use of Krita. This is great stuff, appreciate it.
My pleasure! i am always investigating how to go deeper ;) //RM
Hell, yeah! Now we are talking, vectors!
Cool updates!
Thanks for sharing! All of these are really useful!
YEEEESSSSSSSS !!!! I have done a request to have this feature (but maybe at the wrong place) and it was the last and only thing which retain me a little on photoshop.
A BIG THANKS to have done this available ! thx thx thx
That's a fairly old feature ;)
@@tymondabrowski12 sure? i didn't had the time to see the full vidéo right now, i fought it was implmented like photoshop. This wasn't the case in Krita 4x isn't it?

I was completely unaware of the vector libraries available in Krita. Thanks for telling about them.
I've been using Krita for a few years now but only recently have I learned about your amazing videos. Thank you so much for the thorough tutorial & vector library art. Krita's depth is very impressive.
I've never learned to use vector, I think now is a good time. Thank you for the video ❤️
Thank you for this video and for the svg files. ESPECIALLY BIG THANK YOU for showing us how to make our own vector libraries!
What a great help!! I'm always looking for your videos because they're so easy to follow and give a lots of tips. I have watch this video just in the right moment so you're always a step forward. Thank you so much Ramon and a huge Thank you to the Krita crew ♥
Thank you. I LOVE THIS. Cool updates! 👍
Thank you for showing this powerful feature.
Absolutely amazing. Thank you!
Million times thanks Ramon! This is incredibly exciting, it opens up a whole world of possibility and tickles my creativity. Whoever is coding this needs a price! You guys at Krita are geniuses. You just gained a subscriber and a future patron (I'm skint at the moment). I'm new to Krita, loving it! Thank you Ramon
Fantastic! Is a good new. We are creating together an strong community //RM
WOW I just learned so much from this video. Thank you!!
I am really glad you like it because it was a lot of work :) //RM
Krtia has not a very good vector system yet.... But, this library is awesome and for rasterized drawing is far BETTER than PS, I can tell this and repeat it aloud! So, nice work and keep on!
Thanks for sharing! This is really cool ;) //RM
Thank you Ramon.
This is so cool
gracias por el video! no sabia que krita tenia esas funcionalidad, nisiquiera sobre los filter and transform layers!.
This is brilliant. Thank you.
Thanks Ramon for this invaluable tutorial. I am definitely going to use these tips and tricks in my concept art for my indie games. 🤘🏻😀🤘🏻
Fantastic! share here thelinks if you create WIPS or final images please //RM
Thank you so much for this! So helpful!
Merci !
cool as always !
Wow. Thanks!
Thanks for these lessons you provide, energizes my imagination.
Thank you, this is so helpful! I am pretty much a beginner when it comes to learning more and improving my skills with Krita. I really couldn't thank you enough for making something like this accessible for people like me. Hopeful that I can support the team via donation or the funding programme soon.

Thanks for the tutorial Ramón!
Yes i agree this could be a normal thing for Krita Artists in no time //RM
Very helpful! Thanks!
Amazing!!!
about time someone talked about this.
Awesome Content 🙂
Good video! While I didn't learn anything new about vector libraries or the interesting tidbits using layer structures and filter masks, I did see a different approach to what value vector libraries could have. It's given me some inspiration to what types of libraries I could build for my own uses.
Many thanks!

@@KritaOrgPainting I totally agree, such a great function. I already experimented making a test vector library of premade useful short texts and shapes... Super CooL ! 👍👍
I KNEW There was a way to do this.....I have a lot of adobe creative suite experience and a ton of freehand drawing (which takes sooo many hours). Amazing content man. Thank you so much for one stop solutions. I am not an illustrator, but I can easily be with this information. You know I jump around to many platforms to achieve my result... so many hours... Krista can allow me to do the whole commission in ONE PLATFORM! Thank you for your content...AMAZING!
I have the skills, but time management has been a problem and affects my pricing, which affects business
If this is Supercool for you, would you mind to let the devs that you are satisfied in krita-artists.org ? devs are more often there, so who knows if this goes to major updates in future :) //RM
Great video krita thank you for tip great video
I .....ab......so.....lutly love Krita!
So cool sir
I like it 🧙♂️
I am enjoying using Krita as will be seen in some of my Videos. My only problem is not having a Vector Layer be able to be on the Animation timeline atm. I have been figuring out different ways you can animate using the vector line layers and will present this to my channel very soon but it's still something that definitely needs to be worked on more. I love using all the Open Source programs and some proprietary I have used for yrs but Krita, Inkscape, GIMP & Blender are definitely the best 4 Open Source programs to use if you're a Creator that's for sure! 👍🏼
50k subscribers - yay
thank you...👍
WOOOOOW! very Awesome, lovit, using to mount some concept city, it really blew my mind! the only thing is becaming very slow to drag..., making the quick mask group would make the ssame effect then the Affinity designer painting over vector, (I really like the special apearance of inkscape in this episode) does krita uses the power of a graphic card? I hope to see Krita engine on blender 3d :P, you could do has a paied plug-in :DDD
Спасибо.
Krita is amazing. My primary draw tool.
But the vector shapes masking looks raw.
I vectorized some rock/water/clouds shapes in a BW images into SVG, made a vector library in Inkscape just as you described, imported into Krita as symbol lib. But can't use them. Maybe there is a some constraints or requirements for svg shapes that you didn't mention.
But looks promising anyway!
Would you like if i see the file and review it a bit? //RM
thanks... I would like to see, how to create library for complax shapes...such as Buildings, spaceship etc.
Thanks for this tutorial, very useful and technick, So interesting....
Sincerely, Jospeph
Interesting, these will add a lot to my lack of making backgrounds and conceptual art, and to krita environment in general.
I never use filter masks on my paintings because they are laggy and slow to display the result, i make a duplicate layer with filter applied and use transparency mask.
This is how things are improved, if more people use a feature, then we discover new ways to optimize it with reports. So if you find something Report it please. //RM
Замечательно!
clipping group WOW ! I like it ...........MIN 6:46
thanks, now i can make a star symbol in krita

@@KritaOrgPainting Your right! Thank you!
It should be click and drag instead of drag and drop to add shapes to canvas, just like in photoshop, paintnet or paintshop pro. It would allow a much faster and fluid workflow.
I'm unable to download the SVG files. It's not giving any options, just taking me to a page with large letters
Unrelated to this vids topic.
this question is for the team. Are you guys planning on even morr complicated brush engine (physics based) like the one you find on Corel painter?
Y'all already have the best software for artists already in my opinion, but corel does beat it in term of how realistic and good the brushes feel, and it's the only thing that keeps me using it more then Krita, so very curious if that's something y'all have in mind for the future.
If so, I'll never touch anything else beside kirta.
Like a PS shape tool!!! Finally
Hi! After a long but futile search for the vector library docker, I found out that someone renamed it for some reason, into 'symbol libraries' docker.
I always liked custom shape workflows, but I never got around to making any for krita. I wish it could save selections to vector like in ps, without going over to inkscape to make them.
Hi! Excelent video, thx for sharing your knowledge. I have a question, as I'm starting to use Krita and I don't really have an artistic background it's been very hard to me to create drop shadows in a Vector layer (similar to power point dropshadows on regular forms). Is it possible to do it? I've found the way to do it in the whole layer but not in specific geometric forms inside a layer.
It would be awesome if we could animate with vector shapes, maybe even tween them, but its seems hard.
That is what i did but its now working,, i just get a white page with big letters.
One thing I miss is the Tool options. Before in Krita we had that to help with the uncoloured bits, but now we don't have that.
Please how do you activate the Object toolbar in Krita 5.2.2
Can we please please please get symmetry tools for vector?
If you have me
Quick settings dockers,
Gmic plugin ,
Font text manually add in krita android you'll definitely make my life easier
And more tutorial thx btw
i can get them to work transform them etc, but, I cannot get to recolour them I do all the steps up to the point I choose the colour I want but cannot change the image from black to say blue. like I see you right click and you get options. my right click I get no drop down menu. maybe its a settings thing ,help pls
Please I can't find OBJECT on the toolbars on Krita 5.2.2 ?
the vex=ctor shapes show up but are empty. No image or graphic shows.
So if I draw an eye, will I be able to add it to my vector library to use it for later?
There's no way we can i've the krita android version gmic plugins and font text manually please and quick setting dockers too
I have the krita on my mac and it doesn't seem to have an object menu
If you can't find the docker, It's now called "Symbol libraries"
Thanks .Yes, things evolve really fast. Imagine Krita in a couple of years

Hi! thank you very much for the lesson and for the files, but excuse me for my ignorance, but where else can I get such vector images or how can I create them, none of the svg formats that I found on the internet have been added to the library (
Not all the SVG files work, they need to have symbols included. If the author has not included them, Krita can't load them. //RM
@@KritaOrgPainting As I understand, not all vector programs have such an opportunity, I tried to create a vector image in one of these programs and exported the file in svg format, and, of course, nothing came of it.
Hi Ramon, I am new to Krita and trying to download Vector Libraries without success despite multiple attempts. Please guide.
TO DOWNLOAD Vector Libraries Right click in links and save as: (read the description please) let me know if this works. //RM
This import method is needlessly complex and time consuming.
I did not know the transform would bypass vectors stiffness it is a good tip.
Suggestions are always welcome. maybe in krita-artists.org I am listening. //RM
@@KritaOrgPainting well for myself I solved this issue.
can you tell us how did you speed up? //RM
@@KritaOrgPainting well by creating a plugin for it that has the same basic premise of accessing files like Vector Libraries.
I don't think so (15:43). - Vector graphics is a topic of it's own. they aren't just some shapes and tools which you can import in an exsisting programm. The workflow is different as well. in vector graphic you create object. in a painting programm you want to play with pixels and do everything you can do on paper and pen or on canvas and oil, you got the idea, i guess.
perhaps krita transforming in the future to a suite. A set of 2 programms one for painting and one other for vector like the early photoshop suite but, to be honest who want a photoshop copy anyway? we do have good free programms who do the job like gimp, inkscape and 3D with blender as well. - an seemless import of those object would help and will be all you will need.
Well who knows. the future. Krita is funded by the community and sponsors so, it deppends of that support to create much more things in future. Also i was focussing in use vector as 2d Helper, and it works. Now it needs to be improved if this likes or gather a lot of people´s interest. //RM
Do we need to use inkscape for vector libraries? or can we use another vector app? Because I'm a tablet user and I don't have inkscape
I have tested this feature with Inkscape only. //RM
I wish Krita had Photoshop's custom shape & Pen tools feature. It's seriously lacking when it comes to vectors.
Hi, i cant download the libraries. I get a page with only big letters in color on the left side and nothing else.
Can you please help me? Thanks
Right click in the link and save as ...in your hard hard drive //RM
I can't add an old brush form krita 3 to the current version (5) I am using
Which brush do you want to add. If it is included in the included bundle for Krita 3 is ok,
But you can't import brushes from Krita 5, or Krita 4 (.kpp files) in Krita 3 because now (5) the engine is much better, there are more options that were not available before. That changed the code in the software. (a really hard task) . But let me know if i can help you //RM
Oh, and we have come Inkscape. Which was formerly Sodipodi )
I use inkscape regularly for all the thumbnails in the videos. //RM
Ok, I've got the making part down, and how to create them in their own color, but now I am stuck with also the black ones. How to colorize them inside krita?
I finally figured it out. It's very tricky!
@@donnatracy8724 How did you do that? It seems on the video so easy?
Got it.. Easy.. Just ungroup the SVG shape first and then change the color.
Can you convert the shapes to vector curves and modify them?
The Symbols are vector, you only need to ungroup the symbol and all the nodes are available //RM
the link doesn't works
I've noticed this on your brushes tutorial as well When discussing downloading bundles or these vector resources you don't indicate where they come from and how you can get them
Maybe you have miss the description section? the resources are there with indications. I created by myself /RM
I have a problem whenever i import a rescource as a symbol libraries, it gives me an error whenever i import
I was having problems as well, I hadn't changed the object properties or added the items as symbols in inkscape. Maybe the SVG file you are using didn't do that? I'm using 5.2.2 and after following chapter 10 in this video I was able to successfully import the resource into the library.
@@NadineCallan well I'm on android and it imports when I import it as a brush tip only and I use vector ink to make my resources
@@suretens I'll try it on my tablet in the morning. See if we can get something figured out.
I'm only way annoyed now I typed out a big thing and it's gone. SIGH
Anyway, I couldn't get it to work on my tablet either, the vector program I used didn't allow for saving as a symbol and that was the key part. You could try downloading the svg file in the description using it as a reference and editing yours in a text editor to make sure they are formatted correctly. I was able to view the XML in a text editor I found one called "simple text editor" but couldn't get the file edited so that it could be imported to krita as a symbol. There was something that I was missing and I'm not sure what it was. I can confirm that the Krita on android will import svg's as symbols because it was able to import the file I made last night. So it does work. You could go to a library or a friends that has a computer with inkscape and convert them there. Or there is a process in the forums that allows you to save them in krita. I haven't tried that it's way easier for me to use inkscape even making the vector in krita and copying them into inkscape is quick. I did some more testing and wasn't able to exit the XML to make it open in krita at all. It did show up in inkscape as a symbol but it just wouldn't import into krita. So I would think it's the type of saving that's used on the app. Anyway I hope some of that helped point you in the right direction. I would ask the SVG app creator if they are planning on adding the functionality. There are a lot of other apps that have saving as svg as part of their functionality maybe try some others.
Well is a waste of time the vector files don't exist
