WE LAUGHED AND KIKI'ED FOR A LONG TIME BRUNCHING, ENJOYING THAT WE WERE TOURING ( I WAS TOURING IN A GERSHWIN GALA PRODUCTION) SO WE COULDNT SEE ON ANOTHER'S SHOW. BUT WHAT A FELLOWSHIP!. I ADORE HER. HER VOICE IS STELLER!

We had grown up with her phenomenal vocals as singer with Sylvester "You are my Friend" was one of the superhits. We fell out*metaphorically * when we heard her and IZora. She knew she'd win and she did!

I’ve heard she always been down to earth. I remember in the Sylvester book, they said her and Izora would always come to rehearsal with two Burger King bags (each), eat their burgers and fries, and then get up and sing. I love it

Martha sat down and with no prep belted out "EVERYBODY DANCE NOW!" on Arsenio like it was nothing!! C&C know they were wrong as hell for not wanting to give Martha the proper credit for giving them the biggest song of their career.
Martha's work on "Everybody, Everybody" is one of my favorite female vocal tracks of all time. She wields her voice with the precision and subtlety of a scalpel and the power of a sledgehammer.
I just love the way Whitney says, ...we KNEEWW it wasn't her!" She summed up the situation so perfectly, and she had such respect for Martha Wash. Whitney appreciated singers.

Martha Wash...is what the old folks used to call "a throwback". Which is to say, they dont even make 'divas' like her, anymore. She comes from an era when you REALLY had to know how to sing, in order to piece together some longevity. Sylvester would have never looked her way at the audition, where he bumped into her, out of nowhere, if she didnt know how to sing..and the mere fact that he then asked her if she knew of another heavy, black woman that could sing as well as her, meant that he knew in his gut, that Martha and Izora were going to be 'game changers'.
I met her once in a music video she filmed at a gay dance club in NYC in the early 2000s. I was a young kid dancing in the crowd. I remember after they finished filming the video she gave me the most fabulous sweetest hug ever! 🥰

Martha's voice is unmistakable like that of Whitney Houston - anyone that knows music knows the voice - and the cat was let out the bag on Arsenio for those who didn't catch on - but for those of us that knew the voice it was no denying it - I remember the night she performed on Arsenio and she sung "Everybody Everybody" before the interview - it was pure magic

@@Norma-Arte-y-Ventas exactly - Martha sung the demo's and they used them to create songs or her demo's were so good they were radio/album quality - the Black Box album were all her except for "Ride on Time" which they used vocals from an old Loleata Holloway song - and put the same french model in the video... of the 9 songs on the album Martha song 6 of them... her vocals were only used on Gonna Make you sweat {Everybody dance now) - which is the song that broke the C&C Music Factory Album in the stratosphere... now Zelma Davis can sing however she's no Martha so it was clear when they performed the song that the vocals were off a little - but back then there were alot of falsehoods in the music industry.. Martha fought the good fight for artists today

yes i have that too i got it from a guy in the USA that sold 2 Martha wash dvds years ago featuring all her solo clips and TV performances with the weather girl Arsenio clip was on it she was on it a second time singing carry on and other stuff .

The way Martha Wash was treated in the industry was got dmn SHAME! She is a pioneer and really paved the way for artists who have immense talent and are overweight, being now able to be in the limelight. We still have a ways to go, but slow and steady progress is still progress! I adore her singing! Her and Lisa Fischer are your favorite artists and entertainers' favorite top-tier singers!!!❤❤❤

Don't you think it has something to do with the name? My name means "meant to be alone" and I still am🙄 As for this amazing song, they literally washed Martha's name from the credits. If not for the net, we wouldn't know about this. So now, it's but right to recognize her as a quintessential Diva! ❤️
Whitney must have been on drugs here but she was completely right about Martha Wash and how she was treated like crap by that music project CC Factor or whatever the name was. The playback girl in the video could have been "used" as a dancer in the background regardless if they really wanted some hot girls in the video but Martha deserved to be in the video, it's her amazing voice that gave life to that song.
