What I love is how these monkeys are all genuinely great audience members
oh, the orangutan laughing good at the glass trick is one of my favorites. This also shows how empathetic an animal is, how well-developed self-awareness and intelligence an animal is capable of having a good laugh at itself. Yes, I think great apes have a strong self-awareness, this can be a good proof of that.

Loved watching their disbelief, fascination and questioning eyes - and best of all the girl who obviously switched cups made the monkey laugh - a brief second of puzzlement followed by the monkey figuring out the switch and it causing he/she great amusement. We are still close relatives with shared wonder and understanding.

i always love watching this kind of content you can see the gears turning in their heads and it becomes more and more clear how we eventually evolved from them they really are intelligent creatures
thats kind of a logical fallacy. there isn't a lot of evidence we share a common ancestor with apes. It makes sense, yes, but it doesn't make it so. there's also a human bias in seeing animals that look like us. The 'gears turning' you notice is because of their human like face. For ex. you wouldn't see 'gears turning' for an octopus, even though it could display high intelligence. So the conclude we came from that because of this isn't totally logical. So if monkeys show intelligence and body type similar to us, it may not be because we share a family, but the other way around: that humanoid creatures tend to become intelligent and display similar behaviors. So humanoid creatures could come from totally different parts of the world and have no relation and yet display similarities. An animal with a human shape body won't be fast, or strong, so it inevitably would have to be smart and develop social connections

I dont know why anybody would think that only humans are self aware. Think about it though. Usually, when you think there is something only YOU know or do, it usually turns out other people/animals do it too. Animals can most likely communicate, and express emotions, so why wouldn't they be self aware

I’ve watched the clip of the Orangutan 🦧 a few times and I can’t get enough of it. The way he is using the stick to try to do the trick is amazing. These animals are so so smart, they know more and understand more than we give them credit for. I love these videos it always blows me away. ❤️

I figured out how he did the card into the other side of the glass routine.
It's shifted panes of glass. He installed this glass barrier with a very gentle orangutan.
This has overlapped glass pains. Though as he puts his hand over the seam he puts the card towards the right of his thumb covering it with his other hand and then slides it through the seam to the other side leaving it partially connected so it doesn't fall out and on to the ground. As the animal sees it would just come from one side to the other because there's a glass pain in front of them. It's just trickery but it's a good one.
By the way have you ever seen such a shiny glass barrier at a zoo? Reinforced glass doesn't have that quality.
I think they recorded the second half of the video first: Orangutan sitting by the glass, handling the card ... Then recorded the other scene: magician placing the card on the glass... swapped two clips in the edit.
