- Known brands this flex plate is sold under is ATP on Amazon and eBay. It’s unknown at this time if it’s available labeled under other brands or from other sellers without mentioning a brand.
Always measure your installation depths and converter clearances.
Converter clearance is 1/8” to 3/16” from flex plate to converter with converter fully seated in transmission.
Converter is fully seated when mounting location measures 1-1/16” from straight edge across bell housing.
From machined rear surface of block to leading edge of starter ring gear will be 13/32”(1/32” more than 3/8”) this will vary, the converter mounting location is the critical location, but harder to easily measure. This is just a reference to quickly see if there is an issue should you suspect one.
With this flex plate installed, that measurement is 1/2” and had zero converter clearance. This will wipe out the transmission pump, damaging transmission, converter, and could potentially damage engine. Do not run a flex plate with manufacturing issues. Always measure your clearances and mock up your parts before assembly to verify.
Ryan saves the day again! Good looking out man!
I got mine within the last year, just gonna send it and pray for the best
Just ordered one last night then saw this video this morning. We’ll see how the ATP looks
Glad i bought the GM unit ??
Maybe.
Ill see tonight
Good stuff guy thanks
Thank you 🙏🏻
I appreciate your video. Bumped into it looking for some info and this gave a better look into the different plate. Question, is there a difference between the 4L60e and 4L80e center spacers? Both trans are 2004. Any help would be appreciated
so I got mine from Dirty Dingo on Amazon, is that the same thing? Also, is this accounting for the different snouts and dished flexplates for 4l80 converters to LS engines? the flexplate I have has a space on the flexplate.
Thx,
Got mine Dec 27, 2021. It measures just a mark above 3/8". Half inch mark is inside the teeth already. Haven't installed my shit yet tho.
Idk what I’m doing and this will not save the title and description. Sorry
It looks like it worked.
Haven't seen you post in awhile in the group. What is your preferred contact method for a converter ?
Just busy building transmissions, developing parts, developing website, doing converters.
Quickest most times call or text shop (727)401-4269
Most people Facebook message me directly.
Can also email Ryan@TampaPerformance.com
Did you try comparing them with the spacer off the flexplate like the other one? Lol
Offset on dished is the same amount as spacer thickness on flat.
I measured the spacer thickness, that’s not the problem. The stamped flex plate is dished out 1/8”
@@TurboSleeper I'll keep an eye on it, but I've checked/used at like dozen of these with no issue
If you actually check run out and mounting height. They’re all a little off. Just not enough to cause problems.
These are cause real problems bad.
I can only narrow it down to that brand bought approximately in the last year.
I put the same flex plate of a different brand on the truck and it was fine.
@@TurboSleeper what brand do you recommend?
