Cousy was a magician with the ball. But most of all, he was a field general. He ran the show. And he ran it fairly and efficiently. And it was one for all and all for one. He was a TEAM guy. And if you were not, you didn't last long as a Celtic.

Even at 95, "The Wizard Of Worcester" is still a sight to behold.
He literally played for the Boston Celtics & retired, respectively long before I was even born & as far as players I like who played for the Boston Celtics who were playing & retiring long before my time, he's one of my all-time favorites.
I was born in early-1989 & he retired 20-something years, or, something like that before I was even born.
He retired on St. Patrick's Day of 1963 at the age of 34½, I believe...

I remember my first pair of "Bob Cousy" sneakers in the 60s. All NBA players owe a debt of gratitude to Bob Cousy, Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, and Oscar Robertson. Those are the names that carried the NBA until the next crop of stars came in including Lew Alcindor, Elvin Hayes, Wes Unseld, Willis Reed, Walt Frazier, Earl Monroe, etc.

My grandfather was born in 1900. He played Basketball at Weymouth High and then got a scholarship to play at Tuffs. 66 years ago, as a four-year-old, I asked him if he played for the Celtics. He said, "yea me and the Couse." The grownups laughed. What an icon! He is right! He's a blessed man and he looks great! I would love to see him celebrated at the TD Garden one more time!

Bob Cousy kinda paraphrased something around 7:07-7:14 that Warren Sapp of the Oakland Raiders said back in early-2003, I believe & I never forgot it:
"I'm playing a kids game & being paid the kings ransom.".
That was over 20½ years ago...

He’s terrific. Bob Cousy played at my school… Andrew Jackson high school in NYC. He wasn’t given a position in the Varsity team until 2nd half of his Junior year… Why? Wasn’t the biggest player then 😮. We had tall players in our school.
This is the same school--that 50 Cent went to before he left prematurely.

Just watched a rare clip where Havlicek dunked with ease. Was it an unspoken rule amongst the Celtics to just lay the ball in? (Other than Russell and occasionally Sanders) Maybe it came from Auerbach…

Tom Heinsohn said Wilt Chamberlain was "egregiously," fouled. I'd like to get Cousy's take on that because no player in NBA history had a league-wide deliberate and dishonorable foul conspiracy, sanctioned by NBA owners and referees.

Don't confuse your imagination with 'knowing'....you DON'T know, you're just guessing out of your imagination. He was very close to Bill Russell so not sure why you would guess that way.
That said, many people in that time period, even those not racist, used that word because negro is Greek for black and many things suck as much of the medical and pharmaceutical industries used Greek a lot (still do), Greek is very interwoven into our language. To many people that word was not viewed as racist because it was like people today saying "blacks". To most back then, no matter if racist or not, the word was viewed as just a descriptive word. It didn't start taking on a racist stigma until much later. But it's pretty clear that Cousy spent many many hours every year with Bill Russell and loved him and had a hurt inside about what his friend was having to endure....and he still carries that hurt all these years later.
