This was extremely helpful and saved me from spending around 400 bucks on the iRig Quattro plus this mixer I can take to smaller gigs or rehearsals and record/stream them with ease for around 100-150 bucks for a used MG10XU. I had no idea they sold those adapters to knock the level down enough for the iPhone to handle it. This is great, thanks a ton!!

Can you show how to control what audio input is being used in Facebook Livestream? Also curious how to control the audio levels outside the mixer? For instance, let's say the audio in church sounds good, I don't want to turn down the mic, but the input in the iphone is too high. Can you adjust the input level another way?

  • @luiggimondoli
    @luiggimondoli Před 6 měsíci

So well... I tried this "Headset Buddy". It's not bad, is ok it does the job, but still not quite perfect and audio maybe to low. I kept the level on my mixer touching the yellow (I didn't want it to touch red) and I end up kind of low on CZcams (-3.5db), I'm using iMovie to edit and from there I boosted the audio 150%, still not enough to get to 0db on CZcams, if I went higher on iMovie the audio wave was showing too red (clipping). I do DJ sets on CZcams and I can tell pro DJs have the right quality sound, not me though. I started with my own attenuator thingy built with resistors and it was about the same than the "Headset Buddy". I understand the audio I'm getting with this set up is mono and perhaps that influences the end quality, but I'm not sure. The audio I'm getting is not as brilliant and cristal clear as the audio from pro DJs I compare to. I think I should go to the next step, which is using an audio interface, this way I will keep the stereo audio coming from the mixer, entering to iPhone digitally, through USB ports, out to in.
Any advice and instructive comment will be appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance.

Great video, as always, just want to confirm the plug style with you preparatory to using the same for my church. It appears that you are using a y-cord with left/right, 1/4", TS, male plugs to send a stereo output from a Yamaha MG10 to a 3.5mm TRS male plug. That 3.5mm TRS is then inserted in the female end of the Headset Buddy with a TRRS male plug on the opposite end. That TRRS plug is then inserted in the iPhone or connected to a dongle for use with a lightning plug. I appreciate all you do to serve the Lord and those trying the do the same through technology. Blessings!

Does the RODE SC4 do any attenuating, or is that just the Headphone Buddy? I've got all these pieces on order but would like to return what I don't need.
I've got a 20ft 1/4" to 1/8" headphone cable (two rings on each), going into the SC4 or Headphone buddy, into a TRRS compatible lighting adapter into an iPhone 11. Will I notice a difference in bossjock jr when switching between the RODE SC4 & Headphone Buddy?
For those who care, a headphone cable (two rings) into a TRRS compatible lightning adapter doesn't work. Bossjock JR didn't recognize it as an input.

The method in this video uses the mic input on the iOS device and is NOT stereo. I found a better solution is to use the Apple "Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter". You plug the USB port of this adapter into the USB port on your mixer and the lightning connector to your iOS device.
    Here are the benefits:
    - Digital line-level signal into the iPhone/iPad (no worry about low or hot signal levels)
    - Stereo audio recording in the iOS camera app (the line-in is chosen automatically)
    - iOS device can charge with the optional connection of a power cable (lightning) for long sessions
    - USB audio connection is bi-directional, meaning after receiving audio from your mixer to record, the playback goes back to the mixer without the need to change any cables

Thanks for this video. I have watched it because I have this workflow: I use Shure’s PGA31 wireless headset to deliver sermons in church. The device’s receiver is connected to the mixer for the audio to be heard in the Church’s speakers. I have with me iRig and I want to know how to record my audio into my iPhone/ iPad? Can you please help me? I have subscribed😀

Yes, you would come off a output of your mixer into your iphone.... that could be done..... use an aux out or just a monitor or stereo output off your board, into your iphone... you may want to use a headset buddy for that as well... but it can be done.

Tried TRS to TRRS, tried splitters, tried TS to TRRS, tried the mic only female TRS to TRRS, tried multiple splitters, tried no splitters, followed this, that and the other tutorial to the T... still nothing works.

Your Mackie mixer has a USB out. Why do you not just signal to your I-phone through that?

Hi, thanks for the tutorial, this helped me alot.
Im using the smartrig 2 to connect from my mixer to my android phone. It Works perfectly but there's alot of noise on the background. Do you have any tips to get rid of the humming sound?

Get better shorter cables. Maybe use a hum eliminator. That’s what I did in one setup.
