Can I use this Mixer while a live event and streaming at the same time via usb?? Thanks
OMG, why didn't I had watched this video 2 years ago when I struggled to setup a small studio for livestream and podcasts ??? Why ???
All this information together is just amazing.
It's halfway through 2023 and I keep coming back to this video, every once in a while I change my setup and this video is the perfect tutorial to get eveyrthing back and running. I use the mix minus setup for a condenser mic on my gaming PC (suggestions are welcome).
Man, this was so awesome! I think you covered everything! Thank you for putting this together, it was extremely helpful
Beautiful, thank you! This has helped me a ton not only with the streaming setup but also demonstrating what size mixer would be large enough and have some room to grow.
I purchased this mixer because of you. Thank you. I’ll be performing live w this mixer, the Apple camera adapter and my iPhone X. Using the usb to the back of the mixer. Great videos !!
This was amazingly well laid out. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. So many questions answered.
Glad it was helpful!
exactly what I was looking for, just purchased this mixer yesterday and had no clue about anything. Please keep the content coming!
Thanks, will do!
Exactly. Got it for a Christmas gift. Hoping to DJ on Twitch soon
So many great videos about all sorts of audio content. I appreciate you taking the time to make all of these.
Glad you like them!
Thank you! I just bought it and then noticed the complaint about USB levels. You saved me a bunch of time by explaining the perceived USB issue!
Really clear demo! I won't do podcast but you've helped me to understand how I ins and outs interact. Thanks
This video is fantastic. Practical, thorough, clear. Bravo and thanks!
Thank you so much for this tutorial on how to use this audio mixer. Right now, i just use this mixer for a hobby but i'm glad to have you walk us through on how to get started with this mixer. I appreciate it!
Glad I could help!
One of the most informative videos I have seen on this mixer, thanks for the video brother.
This was SO helpful, thanks so much guys. I just bought a yamaha MG10XU and honestly I was lost starting out with mixers. Now I feel really confident with levels, among other things from your other videos. Big ups!
Glad to hear it was helpful!
OKAY I finally got it working It sounds amazing on the Blue Yeti USB. I can only imagine how much better it would sound with an XLR Mic instead of the USB Mic. Your vids are EXTREMELY helpful and I believe my streaming audio just went up a few levels. Thank you sir!
Thank you for these videos. These are really helpful. You definitely deserve more subs. I'm sure you'll get them. Thanks again!
I've been using this for months and I have done research and consider myself tech savvy, but with this particular mixer, you are a fucking HERO. Thank you.
Your video really good.💐💐💐💐💐💐from India
Thank you so much for this video. I have seen all your other videos on this mixer I don’t know how I missed this video lol. This is all the information I needed when I started
Thank you much for this video! I did my first town hall type setup with multiple speaking candidates along with the zoom call. I didn't have much time to do testing so went live in short order but I had so much problem with zoom watchers hearing the audio. After watching this video I realized what I could have done much better again thank you great videos so helpful
This video is EXCELLENT !!! I am a novice but he put everything is user friendly terms that I could really understand. Very very helpful. THANKS!
Glad it was helpful!
Man.....
Keep saying, this channel is a gem. Best find ever! Dude is a hero and a legend.
I am 55 years old, he makes me want to become an sound engineer after all...
(I am in IT now).
Been searching everywhere just for that last bit of info you gave at the end.. I was getting intermittent feedback every time I tried to record MG10XU > PC > Reaper. I will now test having that USB button up! Thanks so much for this knowledge-and-experience-backed quality content.
Nice! Yeah, that button can be confusing. Glad this helped!
I'm really glad I found this video. I plan on buying this piece of equipment in the near future.
I just bought this mixer also. Thanks so much for the valuable knowledge!
Finally!! Someone who knows what he is talking about!! Thank you my friend!!!
You're welcome.
Thank you, I was looking for information because I had the issue with the computer output feeding back and causing a loop. Read a lot and everywhere you get folks saying if you need to use the USB for out AND in it's not doable with this mixer. Thanks to you I can now actually use this for everything I need. The last bit was Microsoft Teams calls, and because of your last section I can finally get the audio from the USB to my Headphones but not feed it back to the call. Lifesaver. So again big big thank you for creating a proper setup video for the mixer.
Awesome. I'm glad this helped!
Thank you. Well explained. This was exactly I was looking for and struggling with 👍.
Not only did this video convince me to sub, give it a like, all that good stuff. It earned the highest honor I am able to give, a bookmark so I can come back to it when my MG10XU arrives and I get to set it up
Glad to hear.
I purchased mine 2-1/2 years ago, about the time you made this video. I don’t know why I missed this video, but you explained the VERY annoying problems that I was having. I’d say your’s is the best explanation, but it’s actually the ONLY useful one I’ve found, to solve the USB out volume out (along with another of your videos specifically about USB volume) The red button labeled “to mon” & “to st” I assumed that the “st” meant stereo, so naturally I thought “mon” meant MONO! One request, I would love to see a complete “for dummy’s” explanation about why decibels are labeled from negative numbers to positive, and other terminology that could be confusing. To me the word decibel refers to actual sound waves, obviously it has more meaning than just whether sound is loud enough to damage your ears. You taught me how to use the db settings, but I would really like to understand why. You used some other terminology that I didn’t understand, would love more info about those also. . THANK YOU!! for this and your other videos.
Absolutely brilliant video..as all of your vids on the MG10XU
This was the absolute perfect video for me thank you. I got one to record 2 x SM57s from a guitar into a PC. I also want to use it for my twitch channel with a condenser mic so everything was useful!
Glad it helped!
Thank you so much for this! I’ve made the mistake of buying a audio interface AND a mixer 😅. Now I understand I was okay with only a mixer
There is not a single dislike in this video, you know why? Because it is a nice and professional video that explains everything with a lot of detail. Camera setup is superb, and you make us understand complicated topics with ease. I am subscribing.
Glad you found it helpful!
I will play this video again...cause I learn so much from it at first :-D Many thanks!!
You did a great job of explaining what a mixer does and how to use it. After watching this tutorial and doing some further research I decided to buy a MG12XU due to the fact that I want the subgroup to create a separate mix for my headphones.
One thing still bugs me though. On my setup I use the USB-IN channel to play back sound from my PC and listen to it on my headphones attached to the mixer. Since I found out via PFL that the level coming into the mixer via USB-IN is way too high, I consulted the manual and found the attenuation setting (i.e. clicking the PROGRAM button 5 times, setting the attenuation and clicking the PROGRAM button again). For me, values around -17db work well. Powering off the mixer and powering it on again however makes the mixer partially forget this setting though. The attenuation is not working (i.e. just as if it were set to 0db) but the value is still set to -17db. If I click PROGRAM 5 times again it shows -17db without actually applying this to the USB-IN. If I change it to -18db and then back to -17db it works as expected. This is quite annoying as I have to do it at least once per day and I was wondering if you have experienced something like that as well and maybe know how to make that setting permanent.
If I could give 20,000 thumbs up on this video, I would! This was so helpful. We currently stream our church services via camera and microphones connected to OBS but want to add AM transmission to our parking lot to add drive-in attendance thus requiring adding a sound board to our setup to manage the microphones and transmitter. Your demonstrating how to set the knobs and buttons, and including OBS in the demo gives us confidence we can pull this off. The only thing that could use a bit more discussion is at the end about avoiding the loop between OBS and the board when you use OBS as a sound source. Great stuff!
Thanks Jon
@@kettnercreative A further note of thanks. With the help of this video, we were able to successfully begin our drive-in services on October 11. We were able to accomplish everything we set out to do (stream the service via OBS and simulcast to the AM transmitter via Monitor Out). Tips for other OBS users: Once the Yamaha buttons are set as described toward the end of the video, we set the Yamaha as the the Monitoring Device in OBS Settings, and then the sound sources originating from the OBS laptop needed to be set to "Monitor and Output" in OBS's Advanced Audio Properties. The Monitor Out jacks provided the transmitter with the combined stereo mix from the Yamaha plus the sound sources originating from the laptop (USB Microphones, USB cameras, and audio/video media files).
This is very informative. Thank you for sharing. I just started a podcast and trying to see what kind of gear that I can use to slowly improve the setup.
Hi Jordan:
I have at home the same Yamaha mixer. You were right this mixer, it is not noisy!!!!!
I changed the ouput setup in the Bias FX (guitar pedal emulation): from Windows to DTS and the noise is over, is over
Thanks for all your videos about the MG10 XU!
Best setup video out there, period!
THAAAAAAANNKKKKK YOOOOOOUUUUU! Okay, I don't generally type like that, but this is the first time a YT channel heard something I asked and I'm literally on the verge of buying this mixer with a blue ember for my stream, means a lot. Keep up the good work. ⭐
You're welcome!!
i hope you get it man. i used it to stream my live show and it made a huge difference.
@@hugomonstah Surely will.
Just got mine yesturday, i love it and now i can finally hear myself sweet
Bro ! Thais video was so awsome !!! Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge !! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Excellent, excellent vid. Thank you so much for clear explanation of using this mixer for streaming.
Happy to help!
Thanks Jordan. I learned so much from this one video. Excellent Job.
Glad to hear it! Thanks for the comment.
Thank you soo much for this! I've had this mixer for years and I could not figure out how to get the output over USB to be at a decent level. Big help!
Really very helpful! Been trying to figure out how to work these gadgets (similar to yours) out.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you! Nice, clean and well made tutorial.
Glad it helped!
The way you explain is better than my sound engineering teacher.
Exactly what the doctor ordered. Thank you.
Thanks a lot for this video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the explanation I needed two months ago when we bought this Yamaha mixer for home
Happy to help!
Hello Jordan! Nice communication skills, so professional. Already a subscriber, congrats! Happy holidays!
Thank you Destructive Punch Studio!
Thank you so much! You cleared a lot up for me. Nice vids keep them coming!!!
Thanks, will do!
For mix minus setup (14:15) we are sending the phone to the mixer everything but back to itself? I got confused.
I love this video thank you as I plan to get my yamaha mg10xu thank you so much for sharing. I am looking forward on the mackie profx 10v3 also but its a little expensive. I just want some thing I can use on streaming in youtube for singing and talking to my friends. but since I have watch this I think Im going for the yamaha. thank you.
man this video was soooo helpful- thank you
Dude, such a good video! Thanks!
Thanks! Appreciate your videos!
Mate, your videos are SO useful. Thanks!
Glad you like them!
You are a legend bro! Thanks so much 🙏
No problem 👍
I am so glad you explained everything.
i bought this mixer without actually thinking about it and google only confused me if i could actually connect my pc audio via usb. turns out i can. Goodbye VoiceMeeter hello new mixer.
Im definately bookmarking your video here, thanks for your help
Awesome, thank you!
This video literally came out right when I needed it the most, after watching tons of videos, reading tens of things to try getting it work You make a full explanation, covering everything in the way I need, specially stuff like the whole looping, gain with phantom, on or off with what microphone, like dudeeee; Now I have only one question - Where do I donate?
No donation necessary. Glad you found it useful.
@@kettnercreative
Very nice well explained keep doing that i love it
Awesome description and video!
Glad you enjoyed it
You are doing a Great Job, and God Bless you. Amen 🙏
dude, you are criminally underviewed.
Thank you.
Im gonna buy this mixer because of this guy. Pls love him and save him :D great job ! I love the tutorial
Thank you so much for your videos. Please also tell us about using instruments with this mixer like plugging an electric guitar directly into it and which channels to use or using a DI and using a DAW with it. Thanks again.
Hmmm, that could be an interesting video. I'll add it to my list, but no guarantees that it'll get done in the next couple weeks. I need to do a bit of research first - but it'll be a good excuse to play guitar again.
Great video. Thanks so much. I've been using this thing wrong for over 2 years now!
Glad I could help!
@@kettnercreative me too. My stream sounds much better from 2 days ago to yesterday lol
I'll be picking mine up today or tomorrow. I'm working with the Boss RC300, about to do some jamn things!
I think you have solved my problem! I am trying to stream me singing and playing guitar live on Twitch. When I listen through the headphones it sounded really weird! I can't wait to go see what position the buttons are in.
Awesome, glad this helped!
Thanks! Very informative! Game changer explanation
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this advise🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I’ve watched a lot of your Yamaha MG10XU videos and recently bought one plus a rode podmic. I followed instructions on how to set the gain (without having to buy a cloud lifter) and I’m still getting low level out puts. I have two quarter outs going into 9/10 and the other end quarter inch going into the Headphone Jack of my Komplete Audio Interface. The mic can be seen in the meters but not without speaking extremely loud. I’ve got the gain/level pinned to the maximum and the compression around 12 o clock. Slight Eq adjustments but nothing major.
On the other hand when I plug in my condenser rode nt1 I don’t have these volume issues but as you’d expect- there’s a lot of background noise entering the equation.
Love the Yamaha
Love the Podmic
But what else can I do to get a better volume out of it ?
The goal is to sing to music while live streaming and use the compression, eq and a touch of reverb so the listener can enjoy.
Any help at this point would be appreciated. I don’t want to return it if I can find a solution. I’m on Mac 🖥 😊
excellent! on point :) like a teacher
Great info! Thanks.
Very helpful video and instructions
Glad it was helpful!
thank you so much!
Great video. Thanks.
You're a legend man, seriously, i don't know where u came from but your videos are so CLEAN!!!!
Instead of buying that dual 1/4 jack, can I just use the USB wire that comes standard with it? Or is the 1/4 jack better to control sound? Thanks
Thank you. You can use the USB.
Thanks for the info this helped out a bunch
Glad it helped
I subscribed! u earned it!! thanks, great videos. Regards, GatoLoco.
Thanks for the tutorial Jordan!
You bet!
Thanks for a very informative video. Your content is not only very well illustrated but also very professionally presented, one could see everything that you are pointing to and images and sound crystal clear. Question from me (and I do not see other "creators" address this question/issue). I use the same board (the XUF), and I want to know which outputs are the best for recording, STEREO OUT, so I assume levels will be effected by Master Fader or "MONITOR OUT" which , according to the handbook, the volume is controlled by the headphone adjustment. Which is the best output to digital recorder? I use a TASCAM DR-40 for recording (not for bands or music, mostly voice)
Thank you for this video
Wow. What a nice instructional video. Its concise, clear and very organized. Seriously, you should have more likes and subs bro. This is way better than the tutorials of other "professional" streamers. You can tell that you really have a grasp of the concept. Thanks bro!
I appreciate that!
Content is sooooo needed. Thank you for clarifying so much. One question: Is it possible to use the same computer to input (let's say music) as well as mix minus output (for say face time or conference calls) using the usb or fx output options at the same time? I assume this requires extra software. Probably too big of an ask for such a small mixer, but this thing is incredible and I wouldn't put it past it if it could. Keep up the good work!
If you're going to do something like that, the GoXLR does a much better job of doing a matrix style output where you can control exactly what inputs come in and out of the 4 outputs.
Literally the video and direction I’ve been in need of for several months now. Have had the MG10XU mixer for a while + a recently moved to a dual PC setup for game streaming. This is super helpful! Curious, as a follow up, if you could touch on connecting Astro A50s (Gen 4), also of there’s a way to use Blue Yeti USB (non XLR) that’d be great to see. Considering getting an XLR otherwise. Thank you!
Unfortunately you can't connect a USB mic to the mixer.
Great video
thank you so much . its very very helpful
Most welcome!
This video is exactly what I need.
Awesome!
Excellent presentation. Learn some great value, especially how to set up a mix minus. Here is my real question. How do I use the Yamaha MG10XU to go live on internet radio?
PERFECT.... Thanks Ordering My MG10XU tomorrow For Our Show
CHEERS
Good luck!
Wow. Amazing video. Everything in this video are all issues I’m dealing with right now setting up my Boss’s podcast. I was JUST explaining to him how I didn’t understand why the Gain had to be all the way up for his SHURE mics…Now I know. We have the exact same board as well.
NOW….he wants me to be able to talk to him in his headset without it going through OBS, i.e. (So live stream doesn’t hear me talking to him, not recorded for podcast, etc). Our set up is a 2 room set up with me producing in one room and him streaming in another. Any ideas? Thank you again for this video. VERY HELPFUL!
Hello Jordan, thank you for your channel, especially for the tutorial on the MG10. I am a volunteer at our church, and I just found your channel. We have no one who knows streaming, A/V, etc., and I have volunteered to try to sort this out. We stream directly to YT, without OBS - OBS seemed to introduce complexity and overhead on our very low end All-in-1 computer, so the previous volunteer removed OBS. If you happen to do a "house-of-worship video for streaming directly to YT I would be very interested. Thank you again for your excellent videos.
Very awesome video. I e wanted to know how to better use my Yamaha.
thank you thank you. the mix minus is what i’m going to stream on IG. im waiting on my cables to arrive. Ill let you how it turns out.
Awesome, sounds good.
Thanks! How can I connect the mixer to a camera, in order to record the audio on it?
If you have a decent camera, it will have a 1/4" mic or line out which you can plug into its own channel
