  • Switching The Huhtamaki Industrial Spur In Batavia, Ohio. 3 Locomotives Work The Sidings With Boxcars Full Of Graffiti. This is short line railroad Cincinnati Eastern Railroad CCET. First we see them shoving the train over the railroad crossing at Afton Yard. Then we see the train shoving into Huhtamaki to work both tracks that go into the building. All 3 locomotives were not running. After they worked Huhtamaki they left the black switcher, the MP15DC, at Afton Yard and then headed east with a 40 car train. We see the full train at a rural railroad crossing near Macon, Ohio led by an SD40-2 and a GP15-1. The front of the Geep has slight damage. The Geep was damaged the day before in Newtown, Ohio when it hit a tree across the tracks. After I filmed this train at the last crossing they worked the scrap dealer in Macon, Ohio and shut down on the main for a couple of day. The first 25 hopper cars are for loading rock at Plum Run, Ohio which is just east of Peebles. The 9 covered hopper cars are for Winchester Ag. in Winchester, Ohio. The 5 orange gondola cars are for loading raw railroad ties at McCoy Lumber in Peebles, Ohio. McCoy is the newest customer. This video was filmed July 8, 2022.

    Never none that Pan-Am had a rialroad company. Yesterday saturday july 9 whe waiting for a special flight at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Flight cancelled. But whe talking about the American airlines are merged and one spotter saying that Pan-Am had a rialroad company, and a boxcar now on this video great to see.

      @@JawTooth I used to visit Edaville when I was younger. Carver is located about 2 hours from where I live.
      They used to have quite a collection of Maine 2-footers and had the B&M Flying Yankee on the property.
      When the collection was sold, the Flying Yankee went to the White Mountains where a company was or is restoring the streamliner back to operating condition. I don't know the current status.
      The 2-footers went back to Maine where they run along the waterfront in Portland on the ROW of the former Grand Trunk Railroad. (Not Grand Trunk Western)

    PAR is up in my neck of the woods! They once owned the D&H, B&M, and MEC. Today, they are now CSX with the purchase being approved this year. Hopefully things will get better after Guilford destroyed everything. The boxcar came down from one of the papermills in Maine. I used to know but I forgot myself.
    Switching is my favorite part of railroading. When I was younger, I would ride my bike to Lawrence, MA and watch the SW9 and later SW1200 switch the yard. One day an elderly lady living on the street parallel to the tracks, invited me to sit on her porch. Her husband worked for the railroad back in the 1940s to 1960s. When I went train watching, she would see me, and we'd talk for hours which made the experience even better.
    After a while, I got to know the crew pretty well and I got an off-the-record interview with a tour of the operations and explanations on how unsafe that yard became thanks to Guilford. There were derailments all the time by then with boxcars and tank cars falling over due to the track collapsing under them just like what occurred on the Penn Central. Another time, the RR policeman stationed at the yard gave me a tour around, and eventually they asked me to join the railroad if I wanted. Unfortunately, for me I didn't do it but then again with Guilford running the show, I would've been out of a job anyway.

    Huhtamaki sounds a lot like a town in Japan. Funny cause when I was traveling to Ohio and went over a bridge I saw a tree that fell on tracks, they looked abandoned though. Great video!

      @JawTooth  Před 2 lety +1

      Interesting! Lately there have been a bunch of trees falling on these tracks. I saw a broken line pole over the tracks in Sardinia, Ohio on television

    I wondered what those large buildings behind Huhtamaki were. Thanks for letting me know. As for the lash-up, there's nothing like the sound of power emanating from an EMD engine. Alco's always sounded like percolators back in the day. As for PanAmerican Airways, my late cuz was a flight attendant with them for 20 years.

      @beeble2003 Před 2 lety +1

      There's no relation at all between Pan-Am Railways and the airline. Guilford System bought the Pan-Am name and logo a the airline's bankruptcy sale.
