I have recently been learning how to identify locomotive manufacturers. Here is my best guess: 1st Train 01:22 - 2 Engines~ GE GE - DPU 03:44 ~GE 2nd Train 04:40 - 1 Engine ~GE - DPU 05:02 ~GE 3rd Train 06:42 - 2 Engines ~ EMD GE 4th Train 08:47 - 2 Engines ~GE EMD - DPU 11:00 ~GE 5th Train 13:36 - 2 Engines ~GE GE How did I do?
Mr. Tooth, I want to thank you and Gambit for keeping me from going totally insane for these past few weeks during a lingering illness that started on Veterans Day weekend. I'm afraid my channel is going to suffer from it. So carry on gentlemen till I can get back out there. Love your enthusiasm, it gives me a reason to get up in the morning. Stay safe and Merry Christmas to you and yours and to all your viewers.
When my kitty sees Norfy he paws at the tv screen every time. Peawee sits on my lap watching train vids and soon as he sees the cat he gets close to screen to see better. Love watching your vids.👍🐈⬛👈
Thank you for braving the freezing weather to bring us these great railfan videos from rural Kentucky. I loved the way the first train seem to pick even more speed towards the end. All the trains were great. Loved the trains. Loved the scenery. Loved the commentary. Awesome. Thank you.
1st train- shiny new locomotive paint jobs. Assuming those are GE units with AC traction motors? Crazy how they convert AC to DC and then back to AC. Malcom Young would approve.
I am due to go back there. I like going there also. They are going to build a big motel next to the railroad there. I can't wait to spend the night in it
JT, In 1996-7 When I worked for Consolidated (plumbing) Supply in Tigard, Oregon We had a railroad dock that we used to get our plumbing supplies in and the reason why we never got plumbing supplies in anymore by rail was because the tracks were so rough coming across the country that they were getting cracked and broken porcelain all the time and so the manufacturers gave up and started shipping by truck. It's very sad.
Great video. I like seeing foreign power. Thanks for braving the cold. At the cold you can put more on. You can only take so much off in the heat. Thanks for the video Brian stay well roll on
What awesome trains. Which have the loudest horn to you Mr JT? CSX or NS train?😊 That BNSF locomotive is a pretty one. Great captures and cool.❤ It's amazing how there are so many rails not being used any more. You got a salute toot. Awesome.😊 Wish it was warmer for you there Those love action dogs knows where it's warm. Thanks again for a wonderful train film Mr JT.❤😊
Those days around the holiday can either have a great train or one you get burned on. First one loaded to the gills. The steel train back up to 19 cars. The latter relatively short plus a lot of empties. For the most part moving at a good clip and that way they get to the screen faster on a JT video. Maybe all the live action animals were still filled from Thanksgiving dinner
Some more great exciting train action in Ohio and Kentucky the best place for watching trains and the best scenery in the states of Ohio and Kentucky especially the DPU'S and it's always great to see Norfie and the dogs having fun and playing around have a wonderful weekend and a very beautiful upcoming Merry Christmas Thank You Jaw Tooth.🇺🇸🤠🐕🐈⬛🇺🇸 🎄🎄🎀🎁🎁🎀🎄🎄🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇸💨
NS locomotives sure were bright and clean. I wonder where they use the pink truck frames. It makes me sad that the gray office building in Hamilton is deteriorating. Thanks for another great video! ❤
🚂Hello JT another cool video of trains, enjoy alot of the Kentucky spots you film at like where the shoo fly once was and the street running trains. Kentucky's Kool 🚃have great day
Don't thinkmI've seen so many EOT DPUs on one video. Train wind chill? I think you invented a new metric. Liked the action and archeology much, thanks JT!
Do the truck frames go to the Ford plant in Louisville? 😊 It was great you caught a cool train!! They compare in awesomeness to long coal trains!! Thanks 👍 JT! 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
Thanks! DPU stands for Distributed Power Unit. It is a locomotive that is usually in the middle or rear of a train and is operated by the locomotive engineer in the leading unit. The DPU is not manned.
JT, an excellent explanation of what a DPU is. I enjoy your channel so much, I have been doing some videoing of my own, but there is nothing good enough to show, as I don’t have a technique yet. Been a rail fan since I could focus my eyes, and I am 79 now! Merry Christmas!
I was watching Stobe the other day where he was heading from Cincinnati to Danville and he hopped a steel coil train out Gest St. I’m assuming it’s the same daily one you film on a regular basis.
1st Train 01:22 - 2 Engines - DPU 03:44 - 128 Cars
2nd Train 04:40 - 1 Engine - DPU 05:02 - 18 Cars
3rd Train 06:42 - 2 Engines - 38 Cars
4th Train 08:47 - 2 Engines - DPU 11:00 - 98 Cars
5th Train 13:36 - 2 Engines - 70 Cars

Not yet! We will be getting one up soon
It's interesting that the "top and tail" configuration seems to be a more favored set-up than in the past.

Anybody notice the bird flying into the grain car (#220099 - NICX) at the 10 minute mark. Looks like the bird didn't make it.
Your videos are excellent and I enjoy them immensely. I would like to explain, if you know, what the DPU stands for. Thanks

Those hopper cars from Potash Corp. sure are a distinctive color, aren't they?😼 Are the gondola cars of the same color theirs, too?
Not sure
my dog crossed over rainbow bridge yesterday
Sorry for your loss.
So sorry for your loss
Trains were hauling ass 🛤️🚂🚃🚂

3-128, 2-19, 2-39, 3-98, 2-70.
Thanks for counting cars 😊
GM Mr tooth
That has to be the "Werst" car I've ever seen at 17:02
Hello thanks for the video. I'm wondering how do you choose your locations?
With all the trains you observe, how often do you see riders?
What kinds of defects do they detect JT? Is it just the things that would put the train out of service? 😊😊
Hot bearings and stuff dragging on the ground.
Mr. Tooth, Do you know why some steel coils are shipped in open flatcars and other steel coils are shipped in covered cars?
The stuff that's shipped in the open either doesn't mind getting wet or is only going a short distance so isn't going to rust much.
Hey JT, what's your favorite rr crossing bell/bells if you have any?
As long as they are real bells I like them
Do you know what those empty buildings were? Manufacturing?
They Shure don't waste any time .
Are steel trains that heavy that even a very short one needs two locomotives?
Not really sure what's with that. The max weight for a standard rail car is about 285,000lbs (143 tons), regardless of what it's carrying.
Wassup JT?
Got a smudge on your lens😢
I have a question how do you get there in time
Ever wondered how many engineers watch your videos?
Yes, lol. I know a lot of them do. A few times they have come over to talk to me
WORST ,they just Changed the O to the letter E and still pronounced WORST but they spell it WERST
🚆5 brand new NS loks.thats cool.🚆
I got 2 CSX new locomotives today In Kenova
