    I will be honest as much as I love you getting a profit I find these more interesting. Only so many times you can watch a CZcamsr replace a cap or faulty chip before it becomes quite ordinary. I love your pushing yourself and learning and trying much riskier repairs such as a reball etc as this makes you quite unique among the repairers I watch who just stagnate at its needing a reball its not repairable. Keep up the awesome work.

    Hey joey, i had the same issue with the ps5 and i replaced the ssd controller with the 6 memory chips around and the boot sequence went from 220 to 310 and the console powered on
    I suggest you replace the ssd controller cause its the most common issue with ps5 beeps but no light and if that didn’t fix it then replace the ssd memory also
    Note: cover the diy and try using a board heater so you dont use too much heat cause it can kill the ssd controller

    • @FreeWhilly734
      @FreeWhilly734 Před 8 měsíci

      If you replace all the SSD chips will the console still work? Won't it be like no files found then refuse to boot? I know the series X looks for encryption key on the SSD and if it didn't find it then it's a brick.

    • @Maherfix
      @Maherfix Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@FreeWhilly734 no the ssd is replaceable on the ps5 unlike the xbox 😅
      Even the xbox are replaceable but you have to clone it with the new ssd or make a copy of the partition where it has the encrypted key and paste it on the new ssd

    About reballing BGA-IC's. Apply a thin film of flux, and pass a little heat over it to even it out. Then apply the balls, preferrably using a jig to have a very small clearance between the IC and stencil while applying the balls. That way you shouldn't have balls lifting with the stencil. Also, preheat board before placing the chips or you might risk cooking them

    You have 3 options in this situation.
    1. Change the retimer IC cos it fails often even when the readings are good.
    2. Change the NCP ic cos even if it doesn't Heat up it still can be faulty.
    3. Change the ram IC cos it also can make xbox to beep on and off

    • @Halina2691
      @Halina2691 Před 8 měsíci

      If non of this helps then its another 2 options for this fault to occur.
      1. One of the ram chips

    One thing I have noticed working on GPU's is that Micron RAM gives a higher reading than Samsung. Samsung is typically around 20-30 ohms, while micron can be from around 40-100ohm

  • @Google_Is_Evil

    You could consider asking Phil to help you diagnose a few of these. Also, reballing is done with the stencil on and not extra flux. The flux is supposed to be in the solder paste. Ask Phil which paste to use when in doubt you have the right stuff. I am certain he will give you a few tips to get better at it. Regarding the boards in this episode, did you consider looking if the EEPROM/flash are corrupted?

    hey joey Ive never used a stencil before but Ive seen others use them quite a bit but I think you are going a bit to heavy on the solder paste. give it a lesser mount next time may not fix the issue but worth a try i think. and i also hear that using a higher grain solder paste makes it easier too. good luck with your future videos. as always very entertaining, and great insight into your trouble shooting process thats something I could stand to learn quite a about

  • @Elshrimpo

    On the PS5, try replacing the SSD controller. A faulty SSD controller can cause the same issue, showing initialization amperage lower than 300 milliamps, and also beeping, but with no lights.

    I love the PlayStation, and maybe it's because I watch all these repair videos, but the PS5 just seems like garbage. So many complicated issues. It doesn't help that Sony, like other companies, try their best to keep people from repairing these consoles just because they want us to buy more of them new. Win or lose, me and many others are learning so much from your videos and I appreciate it!

    I've been watching these from the beginning and I have to say I watch every episode and love them all.
    However, every video of fixing these items are the same. Replacing chips on an Xbox or ps. Would it be possible to see a different approach and maybe try fix different kind of electronics like tvs or unique items like drones etc.
    I'm still going to 100% be watching these videos as they are so interesting to learn how electronics work. It was just a minor observation I had regarding the videos.
    Love them all!

    I think the amount of episodes in you have proven quite evidently prooven that the margins on this are cruel.
    From experience I can also say that console generation 8 onwards is it just hit and miss in terms of reparabilitym
    I have now gone through 2 xbox s motherboards 1 PS4 motherboard and have gained enough understanding to know I do not want to even attempt a ps5 or xboxs X/s repair.
    We need maintenance manuals available to use on the older devices.
    If Xbox want to push games as a service then being able to have stable cheap readily available devices makes the most sense for everyone.
    I think what I am seeing is with the board pairing and security implemented on modern day devices we are seeing fallout through this and hardware failure we would not normally expect to see.
    I have had it, iam going back to retro repairs simpler and you can always make some profit.

    A beep followed by the console turning off could indicate a problem with the power supply or another hardware issue. Kindly try doing a hard reset by following the steps below;
    1. Turn off your console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds, until it shuts down completely.
    2. Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 10 seconds.
    Important Be sure to wait at least 10 seconds. This step resets the power supply.
    3. Plug the console power cable back in.
    4. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn it on.
    If it still doesn't work, try using a different power cable as well as connecting it directly to a wall outlet.
