    0.5v at 3A is only 1.5W, that's not much power. In a thick board like that you will struggle to find the short. You need to up the voltage. Also, I think you are confused about how the bench power supply works. You need to choose constant current or constant voltage, if you try to adjust both it will go by the one you adjusted last. Just set it to 1v and let it draw as much amps as it takes. If it's not enough to get hot, up the voltage slowly. Don't touch the amp setting.

    • @JoeyDoesTech
      @JoeyDoesTech  Před rokem +16

      I think you're right Simon 😂😂 Setting the amps to 5 (max on my PSU) and just gradually increasing the voltage is how I should do it. Thankyou for the feedback!

    Try to have a ball of solder on your tip and running it across the pads to get a small build up first. Do the same to the pins on the port, that way when you go to place it on the board, it will latch to it better.

  • @RVNR2022
    @RVNR2022 Před rokem +1

    when there is no hot component mean ther is a large path that is shorted to grond. and a large path is nearly impossible to expose because is making very very very low heat and the board dissipate it quickly. i see many case of apu rail mosfet cause this problem. but to find it you need to desolder all of them

    • @Dmiliunas
      @Dmiliunas Před rokem +2

      This is the case. If you have no heat, Means there is direct path to Ground. And you will never heat entire board with few wats. Pull mosfets one at the time and keep measuring.
      If all mosfets gone and short disapiers the Main suspect will be APU. Also while injecting Voltage, measure after mosfet before apu and see if you have voltage there. Then you know if any mosfets are open.

    • @RVNR2022
      @RVNR2022 Před rokem

      @@Dmiliunas correct. this is the way you need to do to found the problem. also removing the inductors for the apu can interrupt the path and you know if the short is on one side or the other

    Looks like a cheap board from the manufacturer. If it hasn't been opened. or replaced, most likely. As you said, has no details on it. The fault is no power. You've checked the 12v for shorts. Clearly visible on the multimeter but not the camera. Have you tried diode mode?
