One of the best reviews on you tube. This guy is extremely educated on cars and this review will totally help someone who is trying to buy a car in this class. Well job done BMW
i agree
Great car, economical, greatvinterior, have been driving 640d now for a year, love everything about it
I love all our reviews and you have helped me a lot in making decisions on my garage collection. Thanks Alex...you're the best.
you know a video is old when you hear Ipod Integration!!
Top class review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
It helped my purchase alot.
I own the 640d... it's a tremendous beast... 😆
11:16. Suspension issue
13:30 Auto start and Torque Converter
A real beauty, with some beast under the hood! Executive level when NEW, but available to working class when over 10 years. However, a very good BMW MECHANIC, at very reasonable prices will make a used BMW total up to a near new one.
I bought this car last year because of this review. The 640d in fact.
I was interested in this car, but this review "drew me accross the line", Very nice Alex.
Just for aspirational purposes, how much income would I need to earn monthly to comfortably afford this car?
Daygo G The financial gurus say you should not spend more than 20% of your annual income on a car, so if you make $100,000 a year, your car should be under $20,000 total. However in reality it depends on your personal situation. Up to 50% of your salary may or may not work for you.
I'm in the market of buying a used one, how has the car held up for you? Any major problems?
@@Mr813Fla 2016 640d has no major issues. EGR Coolant and leaking recall issue but fixed for free.
Awesome to drive.
Nice review, thanks
Excellent review for a lesser known version of this model. Your recommendations are spot on and should be heeded. I must confess that the butt massage in the driver's seat was disconcerting personally. Others may value it.
you are good at this, very good
Great review
Thanks for watching! -Travis
I love ur reviews
Alex, the BMW navigation unite location (highest above the central instruments) complies with N.T.S.B. recommendations. Not so with the Porsche Panamera. These recommendations with become "law" leaving a redesign for Porsche, but full compliance for 6 series show here.
just love this car....so beautiful....i don't care what ppl say
Best reviews
Very thorough review. Haven't been in one of these yet. Sad to hear it rides so roughly
mE98765mE98765mE only cause it comes with run flats, if you swap them it rides a lot smoother
It was a choice between that or the heavy traffic on the freeway. Obviously we chose wrong. We have nixed the parking lot in future.
From a lexus to German still love my lex but its been collecting garage time
In my country the 6 series Gran Coupe cost $165000 and the panamera cost $210000, so I'd rather buy the BMW.
They depreciate so quick
NICE
i love the bmw 640i but in white and no m
Nah this over Panamera any day. 6 series gran coupe is gorgeous 😍
احب هذا السيار انا متن الله ثم اليه
Get one now for $27k!😁
How's running costs/maintenance?
$18k!
In my country still cost $50k
$100,000.... just bought it for $26,000 in 2021
same £17k 2015 lci !
I will buy it this year for less than $20000
GC very cool car. Panamera Interior better than this?? I dont think so!
Dude why you driving around an empty parking lot?
Porsche interior is better looking than this??? what r u smoking buddy?? the center shift gear council is soooo cluster it takes aways from simplicity and efficiency of the system. #1 BMW 6 GC, #2 Benz CLS #3 Audi A7 #4 Porsche Panamera
Beautiful car but a little overpriced
the way he touches the glasses instead of the door handle makes me angry
Everyone does it and it pisses me off, especially owning one in New Zealand, spare parts are quite scarce.
Where is the Road Test ? Youre just driving straight forward on parking lots and keep on talking about the price of other cars
Not a coupe and calling it a coupe increases insurance rate.
This car is ridiculously overpriced.
At new yes, but value at 3/4 years...
The guy is a joke, this gearbox uses NO torque converter! Do I really listen to anything else of what he said?!
Not sure where you're getting your information from, but all the BMWs with the ZF 8-speed automatic use a torque converter. Only the M cars with the DCT don't have one.
Alex on Autos Do you want to google this yourself, just so that we spare you the embarrassment in front of the entire internet?? I'll be here, tell me what you find out. That is the same gearbox that Jag and Merc also use, it has *no* torque converter.
nomayor1
You can google all you want. The ZF 8HP uses a torque converter. While this is the same transmission that Jaguar uses, Mercedes does not use ZF transmissions, they design their own and most of them use torque converters except for certain models mostly fitted to AMG vehicles.
You are correct. I test drove the 2 door one today actually. There is a button that simulates a torque converter just below the stick, doubles up as the hill start button. BMW salesman telling about about the transmission as I really wanted a traditional auto after my m3 dct. So yes, the 8 speed is an automated manual.
Paul Howells There is nothing simulated about it. The 8HP has a torque converter however it spends a decent amount of time in lock up. BMW is very clear here, the dual-clutch transmissions that do not use a torque converter are labeled DCTs while the ZF-8 Speed is labeled a Sport Automatic. This transmission is NOT like the Mercedes MDCT which is a planetary gearset automatic transmission that uses a clutch instead of a torque converter. The M6 is the only 6 that gets a DCT.
