  • Cheap Chinese and Indian SUVs are all the rage now - but should they be?...
Even though the Skoda Kamiq - a compact SUV - is often less feature rich than some of its cheaper Asian competitors, it does come substantially more polished, while still offering great value for money. So, should you buy a cheaper Chinese / Indian SUV or spend similar money on a Skoda Kamiq? Let's talk about that!

Indian and Chinese manufacturers are actively producing cars and exporting them to Australia, a so-called developed country. However, it's important not to generalize the entire country based on this. For instance, Land Rover is owned by an Indian business house. If you have concerns about a specific company, it would be more accurate to mention the model name rather than making sweeping generalizations about the entire nation.

I have Kamiq same model. Few issues i have
    1. Dash board starts to rattle after 10000 km. Skoda service still not able to dind route cause.
    2. Front left breaks makes a awkward sound on break.
    3. Ride is stiff as you said. It results in stable ride but also results in higher nvh levels on coarse chip roads.

For Skoda even the "unbranded sound system is awesome" but in Mahindra Scorpion , even if it's Sony, then also it invokes unimpression. Imagine the review if it was unbranded sound system in Mahindra.

FYI the ice scraper has tyre depth gauge on the corner. If you got an MY20.5 Kamiq with the old style steering wheel, then you also got the removable torch, removable luggage hooks on the top tether points, rear 12v socket, and netting as standard (now optional). For what ever reason Skoda Australia won't offer the flexible load floor even as an option?
I just traded my MY21 Kamiq Monte Carlo for an Octavia RS. But that Kamiq was and is a brilliant car! Enough so that I bought a second Skoda.

My first Skoda was a brand new Fabia vRS way back in 2004. I owned that car for 14 years and in all that time the ONLY thing that went wrong was the drivers side electric window regulator ( which Skoda fixed under warranty). I then tried other brands including Audi/BMW/Ford etc and none of them were anywhere near as reliable. My wife now has a 2 year old Fabia Monte Carlo and I have a 2 year old Kamiq Monte Carlo and neither cars have given us any trouble. Skoda, by far the best cars I’ve ever owned.

I have Skoda Karoq 1.5 TSI 7 DSG from 2019 and I am pretty happy with this product, I had Octavia prior also good experience. Most comments from Indians are understandable as Skoda in India is expensive car and only for higher cast affordable, so if you like Mahindra pls. go for that, you do not need buy Skoda! Also the Skodas in India are second class one, some models are already out in Europe and in India they are launched. So Skoda is probably not so bad when Skoda together with Mahindra are developing a car for India which can most people afford there, if Skoda would be so bad they would not get the contract there!

Firstly I like Skoda for thier function over form stance, ill take practicality over flash anyday. However while i liked the glovebox and driver's side cubby size, that boot space looked like what you would get in a 3 row SUV, its too small. A Vitara which is smaller than this has more boot space(when you actually put a tape measure to it).

The criticism which the CZcams is facing is partially deserved. If he would have said Mahindra instead of India, then it's pretty okay. Mahindra isn't everyone's cup of tea. There are many Indians who don't prefer Mahindra & that's all good. They have their shortcomings which they need to work on. Mahindra isn't the top selling car brand even in India.
But saying "Indian cars" isn't okay. However we all know that he meant Mahindra here but still it isn't okay. This creates a wrong perception about Indian brands in the long run. So, it's a request to the CZcamsr to choose his words a bit carefully.

First thing for an suv is its road presence and this skoda does not stand in front of mahindra xuv700 and scorpion in terms of road presence and rest of the usable feature will also put those suvs ahead of skoda. Cheaper in price does not always represent cheaper in quality, build quality of xuv700 and scorpion are much better than this.
