    Not sure if this is a weird question but what type of plywood did you use? Just looked online and there are a couple of options. Thank you!

    • @jp_makes
      @jp_makes  Před 3 lety +4

      Just softwood plywood, it would have been nicer to use furniture grade plywood but I didn't want to spend more on it. The plywood I bought was only £35/sheet

  • @weneedmoreconsideratepeopl4006

    This gave me hope that it's possible with low-cost materials... THANK YOUUU!
    3:13 Why not use 3 hinges to connect it though? It'd be nice if the joint-like connector is sandwiched in between the two glued plywood so that it won't be too visible, but I guess it leaves a gap?

    • @jp_makes
      @jp_makes  Před 3 lety +2

      Thanks for your comment! I preferred the aesthetic of one continuous piano hinge, and when the door is open you don't see the gaps between three separate hinges this way. If you tried to put the hinge between the plywood layers, the hinge would not function as the two leaves would hit each other. I hope what I'm saying makes sense? Thanks for watching. ☺

    I want to make bifold doors for large aera

  • @ekatlaterrible
    @ekatlaterrible Před 3 lety +2

    Nice job! Is the hinge completely visible on the other side? If so, that kind of defeats the purpose of having such a minimalist and architecturally interesting door.

    • @jp_makes
      @jp_makes  Před 3 lety +2

      That's a fair comment if you dislike hinges. I used a continuous piano hinge top to bottom and I like the aesthetic but that's just my opinion! Thanks for watching. ☺

  • @ecolivinginindiawithbittu3838

    Nice door.... what's are you doing to the Hampster? It's stuck in there...

    • @jp_makes
      @jp_makes  Před 4 lety

      Thanks! The Hamster was inside one of her tubes, she takes her food and 'hides' it in there and then eats inside the tube sometimes. It's quite common for them to do that and she wasn't stuck at all, don't worry!

    Can you add some more detail about the jig you made to drill the holes for the top of the door? I'm assuming you used that for the bottom pivot pin as well? How did you determine how deep to drill the top and bottom holes?

    • @jp_makes
      @jp_makes  Před rokem

      Hi, yes the same jig was used for the tops and bottoms of both doors. The jig is just a piece of wood that has been drilled out on a drill press to ensure the hole is perpendicular. That piece of wood then has two more pieces screwed onto it so that they sandwich the door with sort of U shape, and the hole ends up centred on the door thickness. This makes it easier to drill perfectly straight into the door. The minimum drill depth was 30mm based on the kit instructions (but it's ok to drill a bit deeper for extra clearance) - an except is in the video at the top right at 3:57. It might be different depending on which kit you buy so check the instructions that comes with yours.

    I have wardrobe door of size 3.5 feet long and 1.5 feet wide and only have 18mm plywood to work with. Can i use 18mm ply foor door if yes how many softclose hinges should i use per door

    • @jp_makes
      @jp_makes  Před rokem

      If you're planning on making a bifold door like in this video then you shouldn't need any soft close hinges.

  • @smuhammad6763
    @smuhammad6763 Před 2 lety

    Can i add more panels to that? I wanted a door size 121cm which is double than that

    • @jp_makes
      @jp_makes  Před 2 lety

      Maybe, depends on the type of kit you buy. Or you could buy two kits and have two doors on either side to make for a total of four panels?

    Hi. What is the measurement difference between the opening and the size of the doors

    • @jp_makes
      @jp_makes  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi, thanks for watching, this will depend on the particular kit you are using and should be explained in the instructions that come with it.

    Good to see simple DIY without all that fancy home garage machinery shown off by morons trying to look like creative craftsmen when all they are are trained shopfloor factory working monkeys. Well done mate 👍👍

    Ok video but why do all video makers assume that everyone else will like their taste in music....and so loud?

  • @MattS...
    @MattS... Před 4 lety +1

    Why is music soo loud? Keep it same volume as your voice in video. Your going to make people deaf or people won't hear your voice or people will have to dial-up and down volume 20 times.
