Karl is amazing - Dredd was some of the most underrated acting. He did an entire movie with his eyes completely covered and yet he nuanced, expressive, and entirely real. It's almost unbelievable.
Straight in with the ‘underrated’ comment. Why is it comments most popular word?
It's a shame he hasn't done another dredd movie he nailed that character down, he is judge dredd!
Im so pissed there have not been a sequel yet.
I want a Dredd vs Death damnit.
Dredd was a CRIMINALLY good film, shame about it's box office performance
It's a running trend with cult classics that they don't sell that well on release
Dredd was the reason I bought a 3D TV and DVD player! Brilliant film and fully agree he nailed Dredd! Excellent performance. Love 'the Boys' too, despite the dodgy English accent :) lol

Karl Urban always gives me an "alternate universe" Hugh Jackman vibe.

He could probably play the MCU version of wolverine tbh
Any time Stephen gets to nerd out with someone associated with The Lord of the Rings, it's always a treat.

It has been said that Leonard Nimoy was moved to tears when he saw Karl Urban's take on Dr. McCoy. All the new cast paid homage to the first cast while doing their own interpretation of the characters; Urban's was the most perfect balance of that.
He did a wonderful job. I admit I was skeptical another cast could pull off the sheer chemistry the original cast had but they did it. My favorite part in the first movie was Bones dragging Kirk around, giving him more drugs every few seconds, to get him on the ship.
No questions about continuing as Bones… Stephen didn’t ask. Fans want Karl to continue.
He has done that character Justice. I’m a big original Star Trek fan, & I was delighted. He seems like quite a decent guy.
I agree, I didn’t think he would be a good Dr McCoy, I’m pleasantly surprised at how well he managed to copy De body language and mannerism.
I have said this many times, I could t IMAGINE the stress all the actors must have felt in the reboot movies. Let’s face it, you can’t get much bigger shoes to fill than Kirk, Spock, McCoy and the rest of the Star Trek crew!! They all nailed it!!
Having said all that, I’m kinda disappointed it took until the 3rd movie before they really started to get the banter between Spock and McCoy right. The “horseshit” scene when Spock was injured was great!!
I had my first taste of Bourbon because of Karl Urban playing Doctor McCoy. Got to say, I was not disappointed. He also played in The Priest.

What does it mean to you to get the credit one deserves? As an actor he has been in some of the biggest blockbusters of all time, and are now in a VERY popular series. What is missing here? He is a multi millionaire and is probably earning an insane amount per episode. This is the comment just below yours: "This guy is in so many franchises but he totally deserves to be."

Other than that, you are completely right: My comment is uncalled for, and over the top. I just felt but-hurt in that specific moment.
Btw, now you follow up: Name me one single role that would make him worthy of an actual award? I can't name one. Dredd? Maybe... He is great in it, but the movie itself is not that great. He is a great actor, but he has yet to land a role that is award-worthy, imo.

Aahh yes! I've been looking for this comment. I still watch it whenever I binge on Karl's movies. Wish they could bring the show back.
Agreed, Almost Human with a second season would have been great. They were just starting to understand how to best write for the actors for their characters and getting to a compelling story for the plot. There’s not much even like that show now on basic cable. He and Michael Ealy were great (if you liked Ealy, check out Showtime’s miniseries Sleeper Cell; it’s a terrorist thriller that will keep you captivated. There’s two seasons as well).
I once went to a convention and I didn't know Karl Urban was there, I went for Brent Spiner (Data from Star Trek, he is so nice), I am very shy, and out of a sudden, Karl Urban had his arm around my shoulders saying something along the lines of 'Why are you asking him for an authograph? I just re-watched Dredd (in 3D) last night and Karl Urban does SUCH a fantastic job in it. That movie never got a fair shake and is so completely underrated. I’d love to see a sequel for it. And for anyone that has seen it but not in 3D, I know that it’s a dying tech but if you can find a 3D TV and a BluRay player (even a PS4 for example), check it out. It’s almost like a painting, especially in the slo-mo sequences, with how much work they put into the various layers to give it depth, perspective, size, and scale. Alex Garland wrote it (28 Days Later, Sunshine, Ex Machina, etc.) and some say he shadow-directed it too. Anyhow, would love to see Dredd 2.
I also loved Urban in the Riddick series, and DOOM, and a lot of other roles in films that weren’t huge but have sort of become cult classics over time as opinions change.
Weird seeing Butcher so polite and jovial.
Ol Billy Butcher. I’m obsessed with this show.
His real voice has a much lighter tone than many of the character he plays. He often plays gruff characters with these deep grating voice, it's almost strange to hear how he really sounds when he's being casual.
Wow. I was not expecting big bad "Butcher" to be so anxious and shy. Sure, he pulled it off without a hitch (obviously not his first Rodeo), but his nerves were apparent as he sped through each story and exchange. He even appeared a bit star-struck in Stephen's presence. Understandable but unexpected. Goes to show that even talented actors who face cameras as a career can still experience stage-fright and the associated anxiety that affects so many of us when speaking before a live audience. Gives me hope that I can push through the fear and, with practice, find some measure of confidence in front of a crowd.
After watching "The boys", I searched for his interview hoping to hear him talk about being Eomer.

Karl Urban is truly the greatest actor in sci-fi and fantasy that has knocked each role he takes on out of the park and elevates anything he touches. When I see Karl Urban in a project, I know it's going to be good.
How did Karl not get a bigger segment!?! That seemed so rushed and he had such as ease about him!
The theme they used when Karl entered the stage! If you wanna be my lover is Billy Butcher's theme now.
Brilliant interview. I'm obsessed with the train of topics and how much I could relate.
Yes, I, too also only want to talk about LOTR and Taika Waititi.
After he did judge dredd, he was up for another one, he had a petition going online, I haven't heard anything since then
I just love everything he’s in. Even small parts he just owns.
As much as I wanted to hear about the boys, it’s always great to see an interviewer actually talk about something they actually care about. Like Stephen with LOTR
I've been saying it for years, even before people bandwagoned on him, Karl Urban should be in every video game adaptation and comic book movie. They criminally underused him with that stupid character in Thor. He should be "a" list marvel hero or villain. He is just too good.
I'm not even the biggest Marvel-comic nerd, and I can tell you that the character they based him off of for THOR3 was an interesting character who had a really cool story arc that allowed him a meaningful death that served as a redemptive arc AND allowed Thor to save the day ("I can't save the day, but I can save you so that you can save the world" kind of thing). Instead, he got to be Cate Blanchet (who is amazing in THOR3, no diss here)'s errand boy, the punching bag for jokes, and has a blink and you'd miss it redemptive death at the end. [Granted, they did even less with Lee Pace's character in the MCU, and Ronan the Accuser has an amazing arc in the comics]
I swear he is so talented.
they can use him again like they reused Josh Brolin!
They should’ve cast him as Wolverine in the MCU, I also loved him as Bones in Star Trek!
@@ytuser_3122 same and I complete agree!
