On rewatch, Sherk Forever After is a masterpiece. Visually stunning. The best directed movie of the saga. I don't think it's a comedy, I don't think little kids will enjoy it. It's a really nice finale for the saga, and to me, it'll be OK if they never ever again release a sequel. They're working on a sequel, tho.
@@vudsbua Shrek 4 is a great conclusion, it shows Shrek how much his life with his family is better than his old life. He also realises that he helps the world and all his family and friends are better with him

A 7/10 is a really good score so I don't think that merits an "OK" tag. And 9/10s and 10/10s should be given to AMAZING movies. Not just great. You need to build your grades around a 1-10 scale instead of just those 5 numbers.

Absolutely great story telling and I'm sad that Shrek 4 Is an underrated cinema masterpiece.
Opinion: Shrek 1: Good movie. Brings back childhood memories. The villain might be weak, the jokes mediocre, and has a bad influence on the animation industry but it was good overall. Shrek 2: Great movie. Great story, great villain, good jokes, and a good relationship between Shrek and Fiona Shrek 3: Dull. And very forgettable. All I got for this one. Shrek 4: Okay. I watch it whenever I am bored and it is funny and cute, but it doesn't have the heart like the first two films.

I just said that because the 1st shrek was linear compared to the 2nd
I consider Shrek 1, 2 and 4 the Shrek trilogy and recently watched them in that order and it was awesome! Just forget Shrek 3 and it all comes together nicely.
Great reviews as always. :) On the Pied Piper, they don't know for sure other than it has basis in historical fact. Theories range from children's crusades to relocation to Transylvania. Earliest appearance was in a church window; some scholars say he was a symbolic representation of death and the kids died of disease. He seems more literal, though, since it's against the law in Hamelin to play music on the Piper's street and no one remembers why, it's just tradition.

Here's my dilemma with the Saw analogy. You're correct that the movies felt right as a trilogy. 3 could have been the end of the franchise, and I would have been pretty happy with it (considering how much of a step up I felt 3 was from the psychological-thriller-traded-for-gore that was Saw 2). Quadrilogy is in fact not a word, it's usually just used for marketing 4-film boxsets as a nonce word. The correct term is tetralogy.
