KVR Exploring Clapperton Tunnel (BC, Kamloops)

Aside from a couple bridges, there isn't much left of the Nicola Subdivision of the Kettle Valley Railway (Brookmere to Spences Bridge). One final gem remains but it is not visible from the highway. The Clapperton Tunnel makes for a quick stop and a fun tidbit of forgotten history.

I worked that subdivision when I first started with CP in 1985.

Must be sad to see how the elements slowly wash away the history there. Nov 2021 to name one particularly bad month. The tunnel will remain for a long while I hope!

Cp thompson sub just after the hwy 8 rail crossing. The line was abandoned and ripped up in 1991

sadly, what was left of the line was all but wiped out by the flood last month.

Those flybys up the valley showing all the devastation were pretty shocking. The tunnel is still there of course!
