- Hi friends! In today's vlog we are covering a ton of stuff and I'm so excited you're here to spend the day with me. I am answering some of your business questions and in between we are doing our normal studio stuff like packing orders and making bath bombs. We find that our bath bomb sales drop during the Summer months. We sell more bar soap, whipped soaps & scrubs & shower steamers. Seems that people don't take baths in warmer months.
Yes I agree with the seasonality for sure. For some reason for me they’ve been down the past 8 months even through holiday they weren’t great. 🤷♀️

just found you, great videos. i was selling 1000s of bathbombs and now i sell less than quarter of that over the last few months so i think its people are trying to recover from the hit of the pandamic
You aren’t a downer at all. You’re being real. I do well, typically, with bath bomb sales in the summer. I do a lot of fun shapes in addition to the round ones. There’s a lot of kids at my farmer’s market, so, that helps.
Yes the kids LOVE them! I think mine aren't geared towards them because they aren't fun like you're saying so I think for adults the trend is a bit over. I still have some customers that love them so I just have to slow down production a bit I think.
I don't know if your bath bomb sales picked up but I did a poll on social media (here/Instagram) and I was surprised how many people picked "I don't take baths"! But overall, bath salts won over bath bombs in my poll. I thought that was interesting! ~jc
I agree that bath bombs seem to drop off in summer. I have also been getting comments that people don't have time to take a bath anymore.
With citric acid prices going crazy, I am really considering not offering them for a while.
Ugh the citric acid prices are just insane!!! I think I'm just going to use up my packaging and start to phase them out. Interesting thought on that people don't have time to take a bath anymore!
@@caitlinblue In the demographic I live in, mostly people aren't taking baths anymore or are grossed out by them. I honestly think the phase is petering out and unless you've got dollar store prices, folks are reluctant to spend $6+ on a single use bath item. :(

Dear Caitlin, I am watching you from the very beginning, you are quite specific, positive personality, very honest and very human in all aspects, really fantastic girl indeed. I would like, to see more done recipes, etc...but as well as it is, you are very confident what you are doing, sharing your good points too. You help me a lot, I m not making for sell yet, but I'm very competent skin care expert, scientifically and by trade. Excellent content, very correct comments, very honest input, personal observations etc. Keep going, we are watching you, all the time. B bombs, I personally think are huge past already, I wish I'm wrong, but I don't think so, they are not my forte, but honestly, they are not IN and people think differently now, maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think so. Thank you so much for your honest thoughts about the primera printer. It’s an investment that I’ve been considering but there isn’t that many reviews on it. The search for an at home printing solution continues for me lol
I hate to give it a negative review, it was truly amazing the first year. But for that price I feel like ti shouldn't have this many issues. Especially since I printed fewer than 1K labels on it.
I'm finding that if bath bombs aren't dirt cheap, people are passing them up for whatever they can find the bargain in that category. At least that's been my observation from my most recent markets.
Makes sense, I think the excitement of them is staring to go down. It was so “trendy” and people have moved on.

I been WAITING for this video 🤣 but I will say for my business I just added bath bombs and they are selling ok not as good as I hoped but I'm still a VERY small business so I'm hoping it'll get better for me.
Awe love you for that! There are absolutely bath bomb lovers still out there, I think it's just figuring out how to find them but also figure out how many to make. Growing slow is best!

I'm so sorry to hear that your primera started acting up on you! I just got the primera lx610 and I'm obsessed with it. I just finished printing out a bunch of labels actually. I also had issues with the ink not printing accurate colors - I bought mine used from eBay and i think it just dried up - but after I used rubbing alcohol and cleaned out the ink dispenser and cartridge it now runs fine. I hope you can eventually solve your problem or at least resell it to recoup some of the costs!
Thank you! Glad to hear yours is working. I hate to give such a negative review but for the price I just don't think it should be happening only 1 year after owning it. I may try to send it back and have them fix it for me.
Where did you get your labels from for your product.

do you box your bath bombs to keep them from breaking
Not initially, I wrap them in shrink to protect them from air, humidity, etc. The box was more aesthetics and so I could properly label them with ingredients, etc. They do help with breaking now that I've had them for a while!
I'm curious why you purchase distilled water instead of owning a countertop distiller?
I think it's just "cleaner" that distilling myself. It's crazy how many things can be in our water and I don't feel confident that countertop distiller's get them all out at least for my body butters and things that need a preservative. I truthfully haven't research it much though.
