I placed a plastic mesh at the bottom of mine so the sponge does not get squished into the open holes and limit water intake. No overflow and much better filtration I have found. Full flow and no bypass. I use about 3 inches of course sponge. Half inch of filter floss, a bag of Seachem Matrix and a bag of Seachem Purigen. All fits with no restrictions. Crystal clear water.
I actually modified my tital 55, you see the hole in the white basket front, I sealed it off, that bypass actually let's more water in, and I like the fluval C more.
Great video love the hob filters think you sized it well although the seachem matrix is just pumice stone just 4 times the price it will suit you well also on flow would check out the other side of the tank for dead spots as the nature of hob filters is normally down flow rather than across
Interesting, so I can go get a bag of commercial pumice stones? Yea there def is dead spots. I’m thinking about making a longer lip to get the current to go straight a bit more, or raise the water level closer to the lip.

Great video - short, simple, straight to the point! I have the Tidal 75 too and it's been great. I wanted to ask you about your stands - what is it, how good is it, where do you get it, how much? I just got a 75 gallon tank and looking for good tank stand options.
I'm waiting for mine, it's coming tomorrow. I have a question... with all that media and sponges, how is the flow??? Also I noticed your tank is not topped off with water, is it because the surface schemer?? Is it possible to fill the tank all the way up and still have the schemer function as it supposed to? I don't really like when the water is before the tank rim
Oh the filter definitely have strong flow. My flow is at about 20% right now. Also you can top it off so you don’t see the water level. I do it my way so the water hits the tank and oxygenates the water a bit.
Right now I'm using the Emperor 400 and penguin 350, the do a great job but I feel like I may need more space for media, I'm looking to replace the penguin 350 with this one.
Nice tattoos and your glowing skin aroused me. Good review. P. S Get a filter bag to hold your c rings. It make cleaning easier :> Just swishhh and im gone.
Am about to buy the 35 or 55 i just need the 35 (25 gallon betta tank) but that has no tube to the bottom, do you have experience with the 35 does it do the job just as well ? On the 55 can the flow be reduced enough for a betta tank?
I could, but if I ever want to upgrade later on I can still use this filter with all the live bacteria inside. Everything I buy, I think about future proofing. I hate buying something to use for a specific tank/setup, etc. 😁
I have a pretty thick background and was wondering if this HOB will clear it? I'm using a AC 110 and it's fine.. but this filter looks a bit tighter for clearance.. I also read that the 'skimmer' does most of the intake of water and not the down tube..even when that dial is turned to max or less.. your thought's? thanks Joe
stateniland interesting, because I never thought if this hob can work for tanks with backgrounds. But it does seem tighter due to the skimming portion. For instance, most hob I can remove by pulling it away from the tank, the Tidal I have to pull up off of the tank (if that makes sense). Not sure if the skimmer does most of the filtering but the skimmer runs below the surface, so either way it’s def doing more than skimming, no worries there.
@@TankTastic That's what I did with my Tidal 110 on my 90 gal. I removed the left 24" Versa top and had a custom plate glass top specially cut to allow the Tidal to sit on the left side of my tank, as I don't have enough space behind the tank in our family room. Since I kept the right side Versa top, I can feed from the right side, also minimizing food getting pulled into the skimmer.
Here's my other aquascape projects, let me know what you think: czcams.com/play/PLdw6qICOworhQz3TL9LR5NepuRp0_pLzU.html

Haha thank you man, more to come.
Excelent!!!! Thanks for tip about the additional esponge. I will change my charcoal and purigen for more ceramics mideas.
Absolutely, let me know how this works for you!
Dude sweet tutorial on the filter.😎👍
Rick Rodriguez thank you bro! I hope this helps ppl make a better decision on canisters!

Wish Fluval would make like a C5 for 100+gallon tanks

I love the intro music
Eleanor Louise bit of elevator tunes 😂😂😂
TankTastic 😂 the best elevator tunes tho
Nice video. I have this filter also. Have you had any issues with water bypass at all ?
Wow...I ran 2 seachem tidal 110s on my 55g, and we do things very differently on maintenance days. I don't take the filter off the tank
Nice I was thinking of running a 110 tidal and a 75 on my 55 gallon
How is yours working out for you 👍✌️🇨🇦🙏
@gk9417 actually I had to quit the hobby several months ago, but I loved them. They held a really strong cycle and easy to clean
@@FishRfun thanks I’m going to give it a try Thanks for reply 👍✌️🙏🇨🇦

It's a 75 gallon aquarium
Oh 100%, the amount of media the Tidal can hold is the reason I got this HOB. I think once you use this, all other HOB will be old news.
Thanks
Just leave the interior tray out, you can get alot more inside then and has better flow
Nice tattoos and your glowing skin aroused me.
Good review.
P. S
Get a filter bag to hold your c rings. It make cleaning easier :>
Just swishhh and im gone.
Hmmm thanks? Lolllll 😂 yea I have everything bagged up now. Yup, def makes life hella lot easier.
how do you stop the babys from getting sucked up by the skimmer?
Put a sponge inside of the skimmer

On the 55 can the flow be reduced enough for a betta tank?
Betta dont like flow, I would suggest another smaller filter. Maybe the dymac slimflo sf-500.
Yep. I had the 55 on my 20 gallon with my Betta. Worked great and yea the flow went low enough in my opinion.
Sorry 60X30X36, use 55 or 75?😊
Great video! What happened with the noise you reported in the unboxing video? Did it fade away or is it still there?
David Fernandez still there, but now I just got used to it 😂😂😂
What pre-filter sponge did you find to work the best?
Would it be okay to put two of these on a 36 gallon bow front tank?
I noticed your tank is a bit cloudy. I am experiencing the same with my Tidal 75. Does your tank clear after cleaning
Its always clear now, but yea it should clear up fairly quickly
Use filter floss pads they make them for the tidal filter that will catch even more pop/debris from the water I run saltwater
u could run that tank on a small sponge filter
I could, but if I ever want to upgrade later on I can still use this filter with all the live bacteria inside. Everything I buy, I think about future proofing. I hate buying something to use for a specific tank/setup, etc. 😁
Hi!! Where can I find the sponge for the intake tube?
I got it on Amazon
@@TankTastic do you have the link by any chance?

Np! Its not a perfect perfect fit. So some stretching is needed.
Would anyone recommend this filter for a bedroom tank i mean is it silent?
Canister all the way
I have one on mine in bed room it’s fantastic. Adjust the outflow at night as needed also. I like the high outflow trickle its therapeutic
I have a penguin 150 running in my room 24/7. I hear the air pump more than the filter.
Turn up the ac 😂 ✌️🙏🇨🇦
Anymore than the lowest flow and water overflows basket.

Yea, damn. If you dont mind the look, you can always put it on the side of the tank like me. 😂

is this video Filtered?
Michael Piccirillo as in preset filters? no, I shoot in low light setting and adjust colors slightly in post.
Buy an aircon
They sell these systems
Use clay it’s the best
Not impressed with the clearness of your aquarium . Looks rather cloudy
Tell me how this is not just a ripoff of Pondgurus' Pimp my filter Tidal episode.
