    Good video. I have a Tidal 75 I bought when they first came out. Couple years ago?? Good timing as I had to replace another HOB filter that old age was catching up with. So I have no complaints about it. I also add extra sponge filters in it. There's a way to snap the white basket on top of the filter itself and let it drain before taking to be cleaned. Some of us "old guys" use to say fish that were raised by their parents will do a much better job raising their own fry. Also thinking about your Rams, try hanging a piece of newspaper in front of the tank so they are not bothered by movement in the room. Perhaps even on the sides too if you have other tanks close by. Good Luck!!

      Thanks for the tips Brad, I'll definitely try that! They have been proving rather tricky to spawn for me. I do agree with your thoughts on babies being raised by the parents, I think that's definitely the best case scenario and is something I would love to witness. Thank you!

    Love this video. Just bought one and will maximize mine as well.
    What are your thoughts on getting rid of my canister filter and using just the tidal 75 for my 75 gallon tank and adding a sponge filter with air stone inside the tank? I have some discus fish and tetras.

      @sydneysangels  Před 4 měsíci

      I think that's a good idea. I clean my HOB filters a lot more than my canister filters simply because it's easier and faster. I would buy the biggest Tidal you can for a tank that size, even though the 75 would work perfectly well the Tidal 110 gives you a little extra room for more media 😊

    Wow your tanks tanks are looking great Dan! I see you have been pretty darn successful with breeding as of late!! Those Rams are gorgeous hopefully you have some luck soon with them!! If you could let me know when those Galaxy Blues are available I would definitely be interested in those. Also I'm still in the market for the mutt females, hopefully they are coming along. Anyway I really enjoyed the video and am looking forward to its progression! keep up the great work!

      Thanks Dave! Yeah I've been very fortunate with breeding lately and I'm really grateful for that! Oh I'll let you know for sure, the breeder that sold me them said they breed very true so hopefully they all look just as good as that male! Okay the mutt tank is definitely making a strong comeback too, I haven't forgotten about that either! Thanks, that means a lot!

    Great vid!!!! My question is what did you use for the guppy birthing suite? I am just getting into breeding platy"s and mollies

      Thanks 😊 I use an empty 10 gallon aquarium with a heater and sponge filter in it. Then just put the female(s) in a pond basket and when she drops her fry the little ones will be able to stay outside of the basket while she stays inside, so nobody gets eaten

    Hi there ! Great set up. On your Ram breeding quandary....First off, not sure of the details, but are the eggs getting fertilized ? Cichlids are great for not wasting a good caviar snack when the eggs go bad. Second, these fish might need a reprogramming of their instincts. Try placing them first in a community tank with a few other species that aren't as quick or aggressive. Give them a corner set up for breeding and let nature takes it course. The instinct for staking a territory and protecting just might get their brains back in the right swing by constantly being distracted by the other fish. If this works, then try the isolation tank, but have another tank next door for them to see to keep their protective mode triggered. Now I'm gonna go check out your store. 🙏Thanks for posting some great videos 🙏

      Thank you so much for the insight! I'm currently not keeping rams anymore, but if I ever do again I'll do just that. I think seeing them display more natural behavior would also be really rewarding

    Great video. I purchased the tidal several months ago and I added finer sponges and placed several in the filter along with filter floss. The only problem I have is the blue indicator on top keeps popping up even after cleaning the entire filter. I can only use two sponges or one sponge and filter floss. Any recommendations? Were you having the same problems? Thanks

      Thanks for your comment 😊 I'm actually dealing with the same issue. I just choose to ignore it as I try to clean my filters once a month anyways. I'm sorry I couldn't help!

    Hello,
    Can I ask you for feedback about this filter after 5 month of using?
    Did you have any issues with it?
    I’m about to get tidal 55 for my 70 liters planted tank, and I’ve heard HOBS aren’t best choice for it, but the problem is I have no space for a canister filter in my room😢
    I’ve been asking peoples and they’ve suggested me 75 one which is kinda too large in my opinion to hang on 70 liters tank…
    I’m so confused

      Honestly, I love it. I've since replaced most of the sponge with seachem matrix for better biological filtration. I don't particularly care for the skimmer. It gets annoying when you feed because it'll suck up food before fish have a chance to eat it which is why I unplug mine when I feed. That's the only bad thing I can say about it! I have the 110 tidal on a 29 gallon tank so in my opinion you can't go too big when it comes to filtration! I hope that helps!

    Can you just fill the entire thing with the blue sponges?

    • @sydneysangels
      @sydneysangels  Před rokem

      Yes you can, the problem is that you might have a small gap on the sides of the sponge as you come upwards in the filter chamber. This is because the size of the chamber gradually increases. I have since just loaded it with seachem matrix. I'm sure the blue sponges would still work though!

      Love the tidal but the motor is way to thick in the aquarium

    • @sydneysangels
      @sydneysangels  Před rokem

      @@dhiyaesmail1297 it is pretty thick, I guess it all depends on what kind of space you have. I'm actually not super happy with the skimmer. I wish there was a way to completely shut that feature off. I have to unplug my filter every time I feed or else lots of food gets sucked into the skimme r

    I only put one of the female gold in the breeder basket because the other female was eating the babies as fast as they were being born

    • @sydneysangels

      Yeah I guess yellow/ gold fry are really easy for the bigger fish to spot and track down!
