Thank you for sharing and uploading those excellent painting demonstration. Amazed that you explain so well while doing the painting. Look forward to see your more painting and teachings
Grahame, I find your narratives extremely helpful. As a relative newcomer to watercolor your comments, in the context of your paintings often align with the issues that I am trying to understand. Thank you so much for taking the time to invite us into your world. It is people like yourself that inspire me to keep on trying to gain mastery. Thanks again
Oh another cool folding palette Grahame! Different than the one you use now I believe. Of course the painting was exceptional as well. Just love your explanations of what your doing off camera ( drying brush, etc)as well as great camera work! Thank you so much! ClaudiaSJI .
you're a good teacher, explain what you're doing well. with watercolor much is an illusion of what a shape is or is supposed to be, you convey this very well. thanks for sharing.
Your beautiful work reminds me of James Fletcher Watson, who was a master of pure watercolour. Thank you for posting these fascinating and very instructive videos.
Thank you Diane, I'm lucky enough to do some teaching at James' old home and studio www.windrushartcourses.co.uk/courses.asp. The studio is much as he left it with dozens of paintings and sketches and his paintbox sitting open. His daughter Jo runs the workshops there.
A cauliflower is when weak wet paint gradually moves into stronger dryer paint on the paper. The result is a crinkly edge, a little bit like a cauliflower. Also known as a runback.
Ah now that is a very good question. Two things help: Squint at the subject - this tends to reduce fiddly detail and secondly study your main focus of interest only rather than allow your eyes to dart around everywhere. We are aware of nearly 180 degrees but we can only clearly see a very narrow margin of a few degrees. Save the detail for your focus.
Really enjoyed your past videos and certainly this one as well. Thank you so much.
Thank you Grahame for another wonderful and absorbing art class. The end result, as always, is superb.

You're welcome Marilyn. Watercolour is not easy but as with most things in life the key is to practise as much as you can.

Thank you, and you are quite correct, it is all about illusion.

I would like to live there. What kind of paper do you use? My dad was a ham radio operator. Do you know Morse code? It's a lost art. No pun intended.
Hi Judith. I used Bockingford from St. Cuthberts Mill for that one and no - my morse code knowledge is limited to SOS and so far I haven't needed it!!
Brendan Klopp is doing well,eh Graham? 😉
Hello Graham , have ya been watching the football???? 😏😏😏 Ya ol' salty dawg.
What is a cauliflower?

How do you train yourself NOT to see too much lending to overworking your paintings?

OMG thank you so very much. I will do this from now on!!!!! :)
