      It was Cope, ironically in the Revenge of the Sith Novelization Anakin himself Admitted that truth,that there was no vader and only anakin skywalker,and Vader created that lie so he could detach himself from his life as anakin so he could deal with his suffering making himself a monster so he could bring the same pain he feels just by being the man he hates the most,the man who took everything from.....himself

      Vader is simply his darkness,the shadow we all have,his "Ubermensch",his Heisenberg etc.

I mean he saw when Palpatine said “ from certain death” with that evil smile , he should have known then that Palpatine was planting these fearful dreams in his head so that he would think Padme was going to die from childbirth. Anakin turned to the dark side and ruined his life all because he was too ignorant to see that Palpatine was a truly evil man that was only going to use him for his power and never had any intention of “ helping save his wife”

    i want to say luke needed to watch all of his father's actions in the temple that day, but the little he watched was almost enough to make him unstable enough to explode. makes the force seem more about the awareness to one's mental health if blame is moved to suggest he was overwhelmed by darkness. that may excuse that day, but every day after anakin-vader displays the most ruthless tactics against individuals in his way. it was far more personal for him than say palp who wants to give raw power (like the death star or other examples) into the hands of non-force users.

    I think symbolically they can represent two sides of the same person, but they are the same person. Anakin made his choice to kill the Jedi and those younglings to gain power and save his wife, which he cared more about than all the other beings in the galaxy combined, that was both Vader and Anakin. Choosing the light or dark is something you do actively, in a fleeting moment you can get carried away, but Order 66 was more than a moment and was done with intention. To say the dark side itself is the real enemy and not those who use it is a cop out, basically using it as a boogie man and scapegoat. Saying you can separate Vaders darkness with Anakins light tries to absolve him of responsibility, it’s like saying you can do the same with Sidious and Palpatine, you can’t though.

    • @SalvadorDolbyvsZAWARUDO
      @SalvadorDolbyvsZAWARUDO Před 3 měsíci +9

      The issue with this way of thinking is that it fails to realize The Force itself, light and dark, has a very real will of it's own and can absolutely mess with people's personalities and thinking if it so chooses. In fact Anakin himself was born from The Force as an act of _retaliation_ against Plaugeis and Sidious trying to control everything The Force was. What happened to them afterwards? They both died by the very hands they created and trained, Plagueis by Sidious and Sidious by Vader. That's as vengeful as you get.
      Even outside of those events, Jedi are trained fairly explicitly to let The Force itself will their movements to attack and defend, with their knowledge of saber forms just being channels through which the force chooses to do it, so there is less of a physical blockade between them. That's what "Sinking into The Force" is. It's allowing The Force itself to puppet you in the hopes it decides you should win the fight.
      The Dark Side on the other hand is all about messing with your emotions and your mind. Darth Momin's mask was so filled with dark side energy, that just being around it would turn most people into killers regardless of their personal will or not. The Son corrupted Ahsoka with The Dark Side like it was a poison, and the number of planets so full of dark side energy that you'd basically become a sith just by walking there is nuts. Not to mention that at various times the Dark Side incarnates itself in one way or another just to screw with your beliefs and pull you into it.
      Knowing that The Light Side is basically acts as a puppeteer and The Dark Side as a parasite, I don't think it's fair to say that treating Vader like a separate entity is a "cop out" for Anakin. Vader is someone different because he's Anakin with hindered judgement, understanding and motives driven by literal evil. That's why even Qui Gon views Darth Vader as a separate entity when he's a Force Ghost, because the corruption of the Dark Side runs so deep that he's not really Anakin anymore. He's just a Dark Side shell. Anakin, however, still isn't absolved of his responsibility because through his actions he INVITED that evil into him. The Dark Side got in because of his stubbornness and ignorance, so all the tragedies that take place afterwards are still on him because he opened the door.
      Palpatine, from what we know about him, was a manipulator since his childhood so him becoming Sith is essentially just expressing who he was as a person before becoming a sith.

      I am sure by ROTS Timeline that Anakins child(ren) were the only ones he valued over Padme if he was given a choice between saving one or another with no suicide attemps I am sure his offspring(s) would be his top picking especially because of there potentials in the force matching his own yeah.

      @@mitchbaker5995 You're referring to the Revenge of the Sith Novelization, which is Non-canon now. • @Gamesaucer
      @Gamesaucer Před 2 měsíci

      tbh I find a literal interpretation of them being separate personalities to be very uncompelling. It takes away from Palpatine's manipulation if the core personality of Anakin came away from that without falling to the dark side. From a thematic point of view it doesn't fit Anakin's story arc. It's a tragedy of how someone with good intentions fell to evil, and retroactively lays some of the groundwork for his redemption in the original trilogy.
      I think there's some merit to Luke's reading of the situation if it's taken to be symbolic or in the context of the power that the dark side of the Force wielded over Anakin. Not if it's read literally, like he's denying that what he saw was Anakin's doing at all. It was Anakin who carried it out, who believed that at that moment, it's what he _needed_ to do, whether convinced by himself, by Palpatine, or by the Force. However, saying that no sith feels any love for those around them seems pretty strange in that context. Sith thrive on negative emotion, but that does not mean they can't feel or act out of positive emotion. If Palpatine couldn't love, how could he _understand_ the concept of love enough to corrupt Anakin? So I'd say that it was a way for Luke to cope with what he'd seen.
      That's not to say his conclusion that Anakin should not be blamed is unreasonable however. Anakin chose to sacrifice himself for Luke in the end, demonstrating that his affinity for the dark side was not as absolute as it was for someone like Palpatine. The Force is a very tangible thing in the Star Wars universe, and it certainly acts on people's wills. So it's not difficult to see an argument for Anakin acting out of a misguided sense of love and loyalty to Padme and their children until he'd lost everything, and then that loving part of him resurfacing when he sees Palpatine torture Luke. Everything in between would then have been more of a bad dream than anything else, being functionally a puppet for the will of the dark side in absence of anything he truly values above himself.
      It's reasonable to blame Anakin, but it's also reasonable not to blame him. However, I think it's unreasonable to not blame him if the reason for that is just "that's not Anakin".

    I think Luke had a good reasoning but he missed a crucial aspect. Anakin wasn’t balanced, he couldn’t be balanced because the dogmatic jedi teachings were about giving yourself to the light without question and not the force itself. Anakin and vader while different ppl in balance they are one and the same. Something we saw in ahsoka.
    Luke was right anakin was shackled by his vader persona but a balanced anakin would have aspects of both. Because there is no way to be a warrior/soldier in a war and not end give yourself to that aspect of yourself to truly end the conflict.
    The Jedi of the time were hypocritical, they were pursuing the conflict on the front lines but didn’t want the responsibility of being soldiers as it wasn’t in their nature and in doing so were unable to end the conflict/war. Anakin saw that and that’s what brought out vader.
    I would’ve liked luke to recognize that. And this Luke is far better than sequel luke because he never gives up on hope.

    • @DarkDyllon
      @DarkDyllon Před 3 měsíci +1

      There is a thing with multiple personality disorder and Anakin reeks of it.
      his deep fear of losing the people he loves, on top of having a strong connection to the people he loves (Obi-Wan, Padmé, Ahsoka) is really what gave birth to the Vader persona, on top that nobody nurtured his "feelings" the Jedi were just like "LOL, no, just don't feel, easy" with Yoda literally saying "just let go, otherwise you'll go to the dark side"
      In a sense, Anakin did bring balance to the force, since there was an over abundance of light vs dark.
      at the time during the clone wars, there was, Palpatine, Maul, Savage, Ventress and Dooku as the dark side users. (likely also the night sisters, since their form of "magic" is basically the dark side)
      while the light had the entire jedi order, with it constantly still growing, it's like the sun vs the moon in size.
      so when Order 66 happened, out of nowhere, instead of having thousands of Jedi around supporting the light side, you can 10-20 at best (maybe 30 if you're generous)
      with Vader still actively hunting the Jedi, so that number was shrinking, granted, the dark side can't ever grow too big since how power hungry and paranoid the sith tend to be.
      with the whole "rule of 2" means that there can't be more than 2 sith at a time, if there are 3, someone has to die, while the Jedi was steadily increasing their size.

    The whole Vader being a split personality piece is the biggest cope I've ever seen in this franchise.
    We hold people criminally liable for the actions they take and the choices they make while drunk or high.
    Anakin had a really bad day on top of having a really hard life, but he still chose to embrace the dark side and never made any meaningful effort to change in the years that followed despite how bad he supposedly felt inside his traumatized mind.
    People want to rob Anakin of his own agency just to excuse his atrocities, and it's really gross and pathetic. Actions are what define you, not thoughts and feelings.

    Vader is merely a mask. Anakin has been responsible through it all. Anakin or "Vader" hated himself for decades because he knew fully well what evil he, Anakin chose to commit out of his lust for power and control. Only to prove he had neither. That is, until he chose to stand against Sidious in protection of his son. Finally vulnerable, and choosing not to allow fear to rule him.

    At this point in time, Luke has redeemed, fallen himself, been redeemed himself, and gone on to redeem others. If anyone at this point in time could speak on this topic, I'd say he has the background. That said, based on my view of the Dark Side in both Legends and Canon is that it warps you, it doesn't possess you. It twists your morals, tricks you with lies, but you're still the one in control at the end of the day. I never bought into the idea that Vader and Anakin weren't the same individual. I think that's what he told himself in a twisted attempt to keep himself sane and to attempt to reject responsibility for the parts of himself that he hated.

    I think the only way you can really look at anakin is as a weopon formed by the force. Whichever force user that can manipulate him controls him. His entire life he was manipulated and molded one way or another. The Jedi had there hand in it and palpatine was manipulating him from day one. Jedi were playing checkers and palpatine was playing chess and was in the long game of control of anakin. It was the love of Luke that metaphorically broke his chains and litterally freed anakin of being a slave/weapon

    You made a few mistakes in this video. Artoo never wanted to show Luke the events of Operation Knightfall or anything else from Revenge of the Sith. While they were in the Killik prison, Alema Rar used a code that forced Artoo to reveal his most securely hidden file without knowing what that might be. Han figured that the Operation Knightfall footage was hidden so deeply because it proved that Artoo was guilty of high-level espionage that would've gotten him dismantled on the spot under Imperial law.

Vader and Anakin are different persons.. that's true, but Anakin always was the victim, used.. mistreated and not given the help and care he truly needed, that's something I will always believe in. Luke not blaming Anakin is a true testimonial truth to the love Luke had for his father, he was mature and sensible enough to know the wrong doings Anakin did as Vader, but regardless Anakin would only be set free by his son, his son helped him out in ways any parent would truly be blessed by. Luke is and always will be the true hero of Star Wars. Fought for freedom, was wise and heroic.. You can't think of another instance in life where someone like Vader (an authoritarian despot who has committed genocide for decades) suddenly gets this pass of grace and forgiveness just because they saved their own child which any other animal does. It's not special. It's not unique.

It's insane. Watch the people in the comments make excuses for it, explain how Vader and Anakin are "different people" (like he has Disassociative Identity Disorder) or romanticize it like he "did it for love".
