    Hey great vid man! Thanks for the recommendations here. Some gems I've seen that I highly approve of- punch, silence, princess bride, etc. And there's definitely some I haven't seen yet in your collection. I made a full criterion collection vid as well!

    Awesome collection, man. I absolutely love Criterion too. Some of my favorites you don’t have are Andrei Rublev, Dekalog, the Yojimbo/Sanjuro set and the Bergman Box. I’ve also been checking out the works of Abbas Kiarostami on the Criterion Channel. Great video!

      Aw man! The Bergman box is a dream for me haha I couldn’t decide between buying that or buying a switch... I made the wrong choice.

    Very nice collection, and good variety of genres. If I must suggest anything it would be to watch more David Cronenberg films. The Fly, Scanners, The Dead Zone (amazing film), Dead Ringers, Shivers, and his acting as Decker in Night Breed to name a few. They might make you feel strange, but they are certainly unforgettable.

    You're a great person because the way you responded. I can think of a few classic. In the Heat of the night. Deep Cover. Buck, and the Preacher. Do the right thing. Menance to Society, just to name a few.

    I hope you watch more obscure titles in Criterion. A lot of your titles are well known beyond the collection. I recommend "Marketa Lazarova", "Taste Of Cherry" (though it's slow), anything by Powell & Pressburger, "Le Havre"

    • @DashingAgent
      @DashingAgent  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for these suggestions! I’ll put them on my list. To be totally honest, I’m not much of a collector when it comes to criterion. I tend to buy my favorite movies and if they’re on criterion, all the better!

    • @mmayer1558
      @mmayer1558 Před 3 lety

      Yeah it's always awesome when something you're familiar with comes to the collection. Though what I love most about Criterion is that it allows you to experience some movies you would not have otherwise seen.

    "What do I own that you don't?" I'll mention some random ones. Smithereens, Yojimbo/Sanjuro boxset and Crazed Fruit (huh I guess this one just got OoP?)
    "Some of my favorites?" Fish Tank, Still Walking, 2 or 3 Things I Know About Her
    "Favorite of them all?" Barry Lyndon. I think it's funny and neat that you think Barry Lyndon is slow but Solaris isn't. Love both of them though and I'm not knocking on you for feeling what you feel.

    Just started my collection, being in Australia makes it a bit harder. (Had to buy a multi region player, and order Blu rays through third parties). So far Come and See and Straw Dogs are my favourites. I'd strongly suggest adding Andrei Rublev to your Tarkovsky collection, it's a masterpiece. (I'm yet to buy that criterion disc yet though). Just waiting for Harakiri to arrive (ordered it nearly a month ago), it's a blind buy, but one of the most highly rated films so looking forward to it.
    "8 1/2" bored me, just not my thing I guess, as everyone else seems to love it.

    • @DashingAgent
      @DashingAgent  Před 3 lety +1

      I also found 8 1/2 kinda boring but still loved it. Just watched Come and See recently - incredible. Straw Dogs made me feel like I needed a bath haha
