    Really digging this game! Thanks for filming and posting. You have probably already made your decision and are filming next episode, but nevertheless, I'll agree with Hybban. You're about to add a stack of warships. You need to prepare for their attacks by strengthening your defense. You have other ways to increase your attack strength. Go for the strengthened prow. You'll need every drm to sink those 12 & 13 defense ships. Also, when you drew from the adventure deck I believe you can only draw one jewel [treasure] at a time. That clarification was buried in a forum on BGG.

      @NefariousKoel Před 6 lety +1

      Definitely. Especially since those extra Warships on the notoriety track, which will be added later as it goes up, tend to be stronger than the default ones in the bag. So grabbing survivability & combat upgrades would be ideal, before pushing your notoriety up so high that the big guns start overwhelming you.

  • @ericnexus1810
    @ericnexus1810 Před 6 lety +1

    Your notoriety should be 2 higher because of the Capital Ship, correct? That'll put you right on the edge of adding all those warships, I'd increase Defense, avoid hits to keep your crew/hull alive so you can keep wagering them on your attacks.

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 6 lety

      You are right, I am one away from adding those blue ships already, and will be adding the dark Yellow Ships in Act II. Got you on the defense, I could do that and just keep stalk attacking. . . So many choices! Thanks for watching!

  • @wheeler68
    @wheeler68 Před 2 lety +1

    Edit: Oop! You address this in the first, like, 10 seconds of the next video. My bad.
    I know the video's four years old, but I didn't see any comment mentioning it. You place the black capital ship in your ocean at 27:00, and you replace a hidden ship token. You should actually leave that token there and add in the ship as an extra even if there's not a space to put it in. In the 2e rulebook, that rule's middle of p. 11 in the red outlined box.
    Thanks for this playthrough, btw! I'm feeling pretty sick today after getting my covid booster, and I'm not up to playing a game of this myself, so it's fun to watch you do it.

    Hey Collin, I'm currently deciding between Nemo's War and Gloom of Kilforth for a solo game but really can't decide. Which of those would you recommend as the "best" game that will have the best replayability and overall fun game?

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 3 lety +1

      Oof this is a tough one! Two great solo games! If it was me, I'd go Nemo's War and here's why: The motives! Gloom of Kilforth you have the same goal each time, defeat the Ancient One which usually means you need a lot of combat, or combat skills. For Nemo's War since the Motives completely change up what you score the most points on, I have had drastically different games of it every time I play it. Now, I do have the expansion which provides 2 additional Motives, so 4 motives isn't a ton. BUT I still would give the edge to Nemo's War even just with 4 Motives as it changes up the game enough for me to pull it out again and again and again. But in all reality you can't go wrong with either. Good luck deciding!!

  • @steftymo
    @steftymo Před 6 lety +3

    "Prussia Declares war" - Not sure of this card. Reading the text makes it seem that you can only pass this card if there are Prussian warships in at least one ocean. Otherwise you have to fail it. Seems harsh but I don't think you can remove a hidden ship token from any ocean unless there is a Prussian warship there. At least by failing it you could reduce your notoriety by 2 which is good.

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 6 lety +1

      Ohhh bummer, you think so? I will re-look at the card and see if I can find some clarification on BGG and mention it in the next vid. Thanks for the info Stefan!!

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 6 lety

      OK Stefan, so I think I played this one right. Cards that have statements with "IF" would mean I would have to do something to pass. This card uses the word "THEN" which implies that you do the first step, and regardless of the outcome you can do the second part which is place the card in the Pass section, or Fail it for -2 notoriety. Does that make sense to you?

    • @steftymo
      @steftymo Před 6 lety +1

      One Stop Co-op Shop You’re right Colin. I missed the “then” and “or”. So you basically have the choice of passing for the tonnage or failing for the -2 notoriety. Sorry to have worried you....😔

      No problemo!!!

    • @Hedgehobbit
      @Hedgehobbit Před 6 lety +3

      The pass/fail was done correctly, but you should only remove ships on Oceans that have a Prussian warship. Since you had none, no ships should have been removed.
      This seems to be simulating ships being sunk in battle with the Prussian navy.

  • @Hakucho64
    @Hakucho64 Před 4 lety +1

    One thing nobody's mentioned so far ... when you set up the game, aren't the resource markers (Nemo/Crew/Hull) meant to be at the start (leftmost end) of their tracks? At 00:20, you seem to have them all one spot to the right of that. If you look at the picture of the board in the rulebook, it shows the markers one space to the left of where you have them. If where you have them is correct, what's that DRM to the left of that position for?

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 4 lety

As much as I wanted to watch the rest of the video I was pretty much half asleep. Bad habit not watching a video fully and making comments that are pretty much pointless XD
      I had skimmed this game a while back only getting a look at how to play it and it didn't seem too interesting to me but actually played it's a little more interesting. Maybe it's just because I'm watching someone enjoying the game. It's odd, because I bet if I got this game I wouldn't be anywhere near as interested in it as watching someone else playing it and really having fun with it.

    Do you think this game, as opposed to Robinson Crusoe, relies too much on luck of the dice?

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 6 lety +1

      Great question Steve! So in this game there is no way to guarantee actions like Robinson Crusoe. But because there is so much dice rolling in this game, I feel like the luck can even itself out. Also there are just so many ways to mitigate dice rolls in this game it is insane. But if dice rolling is something you don't enjoy, then I think you will find that Robinson Crusoe is a better choice. Hope that helps!

  • @goldwing2001
    @goldwing2001 Před 6 lety +1

    One of the tests cards you had, you chose the option of gaining +1d3 noterity. You rolled a 4, then said 2 divided by 4 equals 2 noterity. Could you explain that to me? I'm fairly new to board gaming, but I thought 1d3 meant...one three sided die?

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 6 lety

      Hi Tony! Welcome to board gaming!! OK so I explained that terribly, but think of it this way: if I rolled a 1 or a 2, I would have increased notoriety by 1. If I rolled a 3 or 4, I would increase my notoriety by 2. If I had rolled a 5 or 6, I would have increased my notoriety by 3. This way the d6 is acting like a d3. Make sense?

  • @TheSchmusie
    @TheSchmusie Před 6 lety +1

    The Upgrade card "Reinforced Armor" is wrong like BGG. It should be +1 DRM instead of - 1 DRM.
    But i think the Card is right and the rulebook an the Icon on the board must be wrong.
    If a warship attacks me (the nautilus) an i have this upgrade, then the attack of the warship will gain -1 DRM.
    For example: if the attack strength of the warship is 6 and i have the Reinforced Armor, the attack fails when the result is a dice roll of 6, because the warship gets -1 (=5).
    Or am i wrong ?

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 6 lety +1

      I ALWAYS have a hard time remembering which way this goes. . . For reinforced armor, according to the FAQ:
