    My favourite one player. I hope this review generates more love for the game.

    Ok, I'm 1 sec in the video and I have to say this is my favorite start ever. No intro or nothing at all. Just Zee blasting in right away with "Hey hey everybody".

    I love this game. I bought it with a KS campaign, and I’ve played numerous times. Never ceases to entertain.

    After having the game for a few months, I was literally sitting down give it a run and pulled up CZcams to have something playing in the background during setup, and saw this video in my feed. The world works in mysterious ways!

    The theme in this game is absolutely incredible. It does put a lot of pressure on the player, so it is not for those looking to relax.

      Thank you for this comment! I was looking for a relaxing game atm. But this is DEFINITELY on my wish list

    Another great review from Zee. While it is a great solo play, I enjoy playing it with a friend … though we don't parcel out the responsibility cards. We just make decisions jointly … we do the same thing with This War of Mine. Love this game!

      That’s exactly what I’ve just said to my wife. She presented Nemo’s war for my birthday, and I , while learning the rules tonight, said I’d love to play it together as solo.

    Absolutely stunning game. I've been gaming 40 years, this is up there with the best.

    Great review Zee! I've been on the fence on this game for a long, long time. This was wicked helpful!

    Was torn between this and Robinson Caruso, didn't get this because Robinson looks more friendly but is still really hard to get your head round!

    Excellent summary and analysis! I admit I was almost overwhelmed by the complexity of the game. I am ready (I think...) to take my chances with this this one! (Please note that I spared you comments like "taking the plunge" or "jumping in the deep end"!)

    Thank you Zee. I bought the game as I like to roll a solo game from time to time. I played it 4-5 times and agnee with most of your comments/conclusions. The gems colours was not a problem from me and I think that it fits the theme. My main negative about the game is - as you have stated - how difficult it is to win it - especielly taking into account the dependence on luck. Its a 7,5 for me as well.

    Love that Ian O'Toole art. :-) This one has become my favorite solo game... or at least tied with Robinson Crusoe. ;-) Yeah... I like adventure in my solo games, I guess. heh

    Thanks, Zee. It's nice that one of the "big three" at the dice tower is into solo games. Have you ever reviewed "Cruel Necessity" from VPG?

    Where can we get a copy??? (PS. I watch dozens of review videos every week, and the biggest thing missing from ALL of them is information on how to get your hands on the game.)

      The latest printing is on the boats right now. I think it will be shipping to backers at the end of the month, and probably available to buy from Victory Point games after that.

    I really enjoy this game.
    I broadly agree with the review, it's a fun game. If ever a game was crying out for expansions this is it. Luckily...

    So excited when I saw the box, once I saw what it looked like I started to glaze over. Just not getting the theme. One of the coolest ships created, in this story too.

    Why does a submarine not attack first?

    • @RetroShock19
      @RetroShock19 Před 2 lety +2

      If you watch the old disney movie (20000 leauges under the sea) or read a book, there is your answer: The Nautilus did not shoot torpedoes from a distance, (at that time, it wasn't even invented) it's weapon was ramming the navy ships with its long- pointy nose and make a hole in them so they will sink. To do that, the nautilus had to come to the surface and start getting speed towards the ships - and at this time , if the ships spotted the submarine coming , they could shoot cannonballs to it. So, most of the time the ships attacked first - then the nautilus crashed into them.

  • @TheBrokenMeeple

    I liked it fine, just never had enough interest or knowledge about Nemo to get into the theme and the rules were fiddly.

    • @tigerpjm
      @tigerpjm Před 3 lety

      I'm amazed that people find it fiddly. It's literally dice and three modifier tracks.

  • @OriginalNuckChorris

    This is an excellent game.

  • @leadbones
    @leadbones Před 4 lety +6

    I don't get people who don't want things "too fiddly". Like what, you are looking for Uno? Checkers? Tic-Tac-Toe? More fiddly bits and more complexity almost always makes games better. This game is just about as good as a solo-board game can be.

    • @TheGunslinger019
      @TheGunslinger019 Před 3 lety +3

      Under Falling Skies is the amount of complexity most of the people new to solo gaming looks for. But for the hardcore Mage Knight players this one hits the spot perfectly.

  • @ilqrd.6608
    @ilqrd.6608 Před 5 lety +5

    I found this game to be utterly disappointing. The theme doesn’t hold for longer than one game and it just becomes a dice roll party and all immersion is lost quickly. It sure looks beautiful but overall it’s a very bland gameplay experience.

  • @MeepleMentor
    @MeepleMentor Před 5 lety

    Not usually a solo player, so I may have to pass. For example, I sold 7th Continent because it got too fiddly with more players.
