  • In the harsh climate of Antarctica, Adelie penguin siblings take the term 'sibling rivalry' to a new level, their survival depends on it. Pitting the pair against each other will show the parents who is the fittest and most likely to make it in the wild.

    A look at the challenges young animals face, from their first steps through to leaving home. For any animal, the early days of life are often the most difficult. Finding food, avoiding predators and generally learning life's essential skills is tough. However, with a little parental guidance growing up can be an adventure. By following some special tiger cubs in India, an adolescent mountain gorilla in Uganda and two nervous polar bear cubs in the high Arctic, the trials and tribulations of growing up wild are revealed.

    Those chasing penguins chicks were so adorable and falling off like a little child... Sadly the slow ones will not get the food... As said in the end by the narrator...

      *Absolutely, the playful antics of penguin chicks are truly endearing, adding a touch of innocence to the harsh realities of the wild. It's heartbreaking, yet a stark reminder of nature's relentless rules - survival often favors the swift and strong. Narratives like these not only engage us but also inspire a deeper understanding and respect for the intricacies of life in the wild*

    France s/w "Sparrows" I've noticed something interesting about sparrows and there first brood of young , when they leave the nest and feeding themselves, they also help to feed the second brood of fledglings by taken insects back to the nest. Can't find anything in text about behaviour? Very Interesting though , I know they may have upto 2 to 3 broods a year and now wonder if they only do this when food is plentiful ?
    Not sure if anyone has also observed this ?

    At first glance it's a cute race between penguin siblings, but the one who wins will be the one who survives at the end. Kind of tough seeing it in that light. It's a race against death, and the one who loses will be embraced by it. Kind of sad. Much different from emperor penguins who have one child and if the parents die, they can get adopted (even if the parents are still there sometimes...).

    • @turkeyman100
      @turkeyman100 Před 11 měsíci +1

      Well, don't forget that female emperor penguins who lost their egg or chick will try to steal other penguins' chicks, and if there's lots of thieves the chick can get smothered to death in the struggle.

  • @wcrimeusa88
    @wcrimeusa88 Před rokem +4

    *Yes, the competition for food among penguin siblings is a captivating spectacle. It's a testament to the harsh realities of survival in the wild, where resources are often scarce. These scenarios, while seemingly harsh, are important for developing the skills and resilience needed in the natural world.*

    • @davidmellish3295
      @davidmellish3295 Před rokem +4

      No both the chick's are hers but they can only bring one of them up and ghe parents don't want to put energy into the weaker chick so it's a test. The mothers run and the biggest strongest chick gets fed and the other loses out and starves to death. It's nature's way of the strongest gens being past down

    I remember my Dad once bought me to the penguin exhibit. Its the one memory I can't shake because I actually got to go inside and see them up close. Unfortunately I got separated from my parents and I'm told my memories are all synapses from schizophrenia. From the peach rings he would sneak me to my mom's engagement ring, I'm told its all a lie and that I'm crazy.
