Agree, my FW91 lasted 13 years before changing the battery. The light was used every day for a few times. Alarm once per day. One beep at every hour.

Great watch, my daily driver as a fireman. Far better in my opinion that any other expensive Gshock.
For this level of Screen legibility , you would have to pay far more in the gshock range.
It's a perfect option for that field of work.
Definitely the best Casio budget watch to be released in a while! Love the display! It's also like a cross between a G-Shock and a Pro-Trek. Love the design. They hit it out of the park with this model. Got both the positive and negative display. The negative display is very legible.

It does have similar display styles. The density and heft is lacking when compared to a Pro Trek but it is great for what it is.

Recientemente recibi la version en negro. El precio es muy accesible (20 dolares) , vale la pena. La marca Casio destaca por durabilidad y resistencia. Es encima un exito a nivel mundial, de gran trayectoria y es precisamente porque te ofrecen relojes de muy buena calidad. Definitivamente me encanta esta marca que me ha acompañado casi toda mi vida.
El diseño es precioso. Llamativo. Es grande, los numeros son enormes, faciles de leer y eso es justo lo que esperaba de el.
La bateria promete 10 años. Mas que suficiente para mi.
Eso si soy consciente que el tiempo seguramente se encargara de deteriorar la pantalla con rayones y su carcasa cuando reciba golpes pero es lo normal. Nada es para siempre. Y por ese precio lo puedo aceptar.
La iluminacion lleva un estilo vintage, esta bien, me gusta, trae 2 led. Lo malo y es importante señalar es que las alarmas aunque son 5, solo duran 10 segundos, no te confies, no te van a despertar, solo serviran como recordatorios. Y que sus led solo iluminan por 1 segundo. Aunque te puedes aconstumbrar. Sino lo vuelves a pulsar.
Mi veredicto: 8 de 10 . Si lo recomiendo

October 2022, Amazing for under $25. Huge LCD display caught my eye & it looks great on wrist. Searched up negative display, but I prefer Black watches over Grey. So positive gets my vote!
IMO positive is more practical
Update: My local Walmart had both in stock, the gray is much lighter in person and the negative display is too dark for my taste. Positive looks so much nicer on wrist and it goes with everything.
Great review / video pal! What I don t understand is why is It you can pay £25.00 from the States and when the temperature drops outside the LCD screen won't steam up with condensation! Yet you can pay £750+ for a Casio Gravity master watch and as soon as you go outside in the cold you can't read the time due to the fogging in the centre of the screen? I've noticed ALL the analogue Casio G Shock.watched ive ever owned have all had condensation / fogging issues even the ones with ones Made in Japan with the screwdown backing case. Yet all the digital Casio ones I own have never ever had this issue what so ever! Surely I'm not the only person this has happened to an I ?! Stay safe.
That's very unfortunate. In many ways there's a value from the budget Casio's that is simply unbeatable, from their versatility of use in any environment to there superb performance to cost ratio🤘
Oh yes....Baby Protrek, without sensors and without inner protection, and without a painful price. I'll buy one of these definitely, who else in the world can make that thing at that price......nobody i think. That's much more than you should expect from a 20 USD watch, because like always with a Casio, you can buy a good and tough watch for a price less than a lunch in Mc Donalds. Personally i like AE1500 much more than AE1000, it's much more legible, it seems to me like i could use a JaysandKays adapters, enough to me.

I have been looking for a 10 bar watch with a large simple digital face for a while and this is perfect. I need something for dinghy sailing that I can read even if I don't have my optical glasses on. Surprisingly hard to find.

@@degenerateWA it seems that way! I just bought a AE-1500WH to replace my W-S220 and it's great. The big digits are brilliant and not having to worry about the battery for 10 years is a bonus. My only complaint with my old W-S220 is that after 4 or so years the solar charge battery doesn't seem to hold it's charge so well now.
It was smart of them to use the battery. CR2032s are like a $1 if you don't buy them in bulk. That's so cheap you could replace them yearly and it would take 20 years to equal the cost of the watch. Plus, they're super-easy to replace.
That's a great way to look at it.
You can even get them for free from recycling centers lol
cr2032 batteries are commonly used in computer motherboards and you can find broken or defective motherboards with perfectly working CMOS batteries, this is one advantage of using cr2032 over cr2016 batteries.
Do you change the battery on your own? I would be worried about the water resistancy afterwards.
Not super easy to replace. The straps must be removed to replace the battery and straps / pins are a b*tch to work with.
Most likely the strap will fail before the battery dies. Buy a new and improved watch.
@@danielsimek Why should I worry? You have to know what you're doing, make sure you place the gasket correctly, be careful. I've changed the batteries on many watches and never had a problem. I'm not a professional.

I have since given this watch to a friend, but if I recall I believe you have to press one of the right pushers in main time mode to alternate between 12/24 hour mode.

how long does a solar battery and 10 yr battery last???my armitron watch which looks exactly like this casio was dead after 5 months use...
10 year battery is supposed to last for... 10 years. That's based on the wearer using the backlight and alarm once per day. Of course most people don't use every function every day so that 10 years can fluctuate. I have a G Shock with an 8 year battery and it's still going on strong 13 years later. Solar rechargeable batteries can last for 10-20+ years depending on how well they're are taken care of. If they are kept in the dark then that will drastically shorten their life span.

I bought this to use for when I am working (construction) for $20 I am not worried about it getting paint on it or scratched up, I also like the very large display, I have another Casio that was maybe $40 which I really like the look of and it has a little better bracelet and overall build but the actual numbers in the display are too small for my old eyes! I dont want to have to squint to make out the date or turn on the back lighting each time I want to read the watch. so I find this watch to be the better of the two ! it also has multiple alarms where as the more expensive one has 1 and just overall easier to access and use all its options. dual time is kind of nice as well since we have family in another state and I am always trying to remember how many hours differant it is and calculate the time before I make a call. really its an obviously cheap watch but it does what I want a watch to do and does it very well. I really like it!! although I wish I had gotten the negative display , that one looks pretty cool .hell for 20 bucks I may as well get that one too...

Has anyone made use of the '10 second dots' that flow in and out on the right of the display. I've seen this on other Casio watches. I've never liked it. It seems pointless and gimmicky. Am I missing something? Some kind of use or function I don't now about. I just find it annoying and distracting. If you need to time something for 10 seconds, the seconds figures are shown at the bottom of the display.

I think it can be used as a quick visual reference, but honestly it's probably more of just a design feature to make the display a little more interesting.
@@degenerateWA What would it be a reference for? That's what I can't understand. Maybe if I could see a reason for the dots, I might have a 'Eureka' moment. But the 'seconds' figures give an instant reference for the 'seconds'. I'm trying to find a reason for the dots, as I like the watch and its exactly what I'm looking for to use at work. But I detest those dots! lol - they are a real deal breaker , unfortunately. :-(
@@skycrafts5140 for what specifically, I can't answer that for you, as each individual could use it as a visual tool for however they wanted to. And who knows, maybe they're not meant to do anything other than provide something to look at as time passes.

My solar Casio watch lasted 14 months. After the battery got off. Cannot be charged anymore with my lamp strong light. Tried for 10 hours charging but in vain.
lamp light, no matter how strong, is not going to charge a solar Casio very well. The best way is through sunlight. If the battery was very low then it may take a few days to get it back up to a full charge.
I'll be honest with you I like the positive display better and I like the negative but I could see the positive perfectly depending on what lighting condition is with the negative display sometimes you have to use the backlight to see exactly but they're both great watches across breed between protrack energy shock is a pretty big face I think it's 51 mm wide

Why is the digital flickering?
Because of the cameras FPS rate compared to the displays refresh rate. You don't see it in person.
I have the same watch bud mine has a sand colored bezel and strap and has orange accents in the display
I really like the tan version. I was going to get one but having 3 of the same thing seemed like overkill.
@@degenerateWAyou can always sell one if you want and i just find out if you press the light button in the timer setting mode you can turn on or off a repeat funtion for the timer

I have since given the watch away, but from what I recall I don't believe it had auto light.

Yes, as long as you have the right tools. A basic jeweler's and watch repair kit is enough to do it quickly.

I have never owned an Casio watch before. I have two questions for you ser,
1. Can you give me an idea regarding how long can I expect the battery to work if I do use that light button quite a bit?
2. Is the battery required a common one, like is it easily available?
The battery is rated for 10 years if you use the light and alarm once per day. If you use the light a lot then I imagine it could range anywhere from 5-8 years. You should be able to find the battery at any major store or easily online.

I don't think so. It's super light so even if the diamater is a bit larger it still sits on the wrist very comfortably for most wrist sizes.

If casio says their regular battery life is 10 years, obviously their solar powered watches will run to 15 years or longer before it needs a Cell.
Easily 15 years or longer. However I always like to err on the side of caution and estimate worst case scenarios. Better to under estimate the lifespan and pleasantly surprise the owner when their watch outlives the expected battery life.

There are a few things I don't like about it like the 10 second bar graph counter thing on the right hand side of the display. It just seems pointless. I don't like the static "5 alarms" text or the "10 year battery" on the watch. It just seems like pointless information to have on the watch just for the sake of writing something on the watch. Having said all that though I would probably still buy it because that is a hell of a watch for the price.
I agree with the "5 Alarms" text, but the 10 second counter can be useful in an operational environment. It provides a quick visual reference if you needed to quickly track time without going to the stopwatch. Of course you could do the same thing with the main seconds counter but it's just another option that's available to the user. But like you said, regardless it's hard to resist at the price point.
You can mod this watch and take off some of the lettering. Easy to do. Check CZcams videos.

Either the pusher is not working, or maybe you are pressing it in the morning so nothing would change except the "AM" indicator.

I love this watch and was so confused when it switched back from 24hrs. I watched no pun intended this and felt like an idiot.
Took me a sec to figure it out. Like a normal person I assumed you could set 12/24 time in adjust mode but Casio just had to be extra.

It does. It's a standard digital watch and most digital watches have these features.
This behemoth of a watch doesn’t deserve to be in casios excellent AE series of watches it’s ridiculously big it just looks stupid,but they hit a home run with th snug and square W-737H it’s a quarter of the size of this hulk but has a large time display and minimum screen distraction it has 10 year battery and 100mtrs WR l hope you review it-l don’t know what Casio was thinking this watch just looks goofy!
I have two things to say:
1. I can understand the points you make. It is a rather large watch, but that's what makes Casio so great. They have such a large catalogue of great watches to meet most people's tastes/styles.
2. Your username is absolutely legendary.
No one says you have to buy it.
It's not being pushed on you and you're not the only watch buyer in the world.
