I love the theme music. I like listening to it on the loop if something very challenging is going on in my life, and it seems to help. This music creates detachment from the 'horror' and lifts us above it.
Best black comedy ever.....we saw it in a drive in theatre in 1973---still remember women screaming as Price was sawing off one of the critic's head with that pure gold music playing along the cutoff!
The opening main title theme really hooked me to this movie. Theatre Of Blood was a horror, drama and a black comedy film. It was a flawless film. It was one of Vincent Price’s favorite films. Michael J. Lewis composed a magnificent score that covered all the bases. Bravo, Maestro! Bravo!
Yes I agree, Theatre of Blood is absolutely unique - one of the best, if not the best ever horror film. A wonderful score with a great cast. Vincent Price enjoying every moment of it and acting at his campest.
The music accompaning the scene where they are cutting the victim s body is the best piece of music I have ever heard.... SERIOUSLY.. Michael j. Lewis is an absolute genius!!!
Which part in particular are you referring to. It’s been years since I’ve watched this movie. I always thought the opening theme was incredibly beautiful.
Great haunting theme from a great film. Only recently discovered Welshman Michael's work. Was not expecting quite such an extrovert composer.... but what do I know!
Great interview. Theater of Blood has such a fantastic score, soulful, dramatic, quietly menacing, blackly humorous. I think some of the choices, like the operation scene, were genius
Wonderful insights into what has always been to me a remarkably beautiful musical score. Superb main title theme and the counterpoint of a lush romantic melody over a gruesome beheading is particularly striking. Is there any change Mr. Lewis could be persuaded to release the two recorded songs, with lyrics by Anthony Burgess and vocals by Diana Rigg?
Love the film 'Theatre of Blood' and Michael's music for it is brilliant. Thanks for this, very interesting.

Beautiful man. Beautiful music.
A true genius and among the most underrated composers ever.

Superb score. Brilliant. Love the short piece when Edward is crossing the road after his scene with Diana Dors.
Superb! What a lovely rendering
Thank you for posting this insightful and fun interview with Michael J. Lewis. Theatre of Blood is a favorite film with a great soundtrack.

Or at least the lyric?
I am bad at accents. Please Brrrritons, tell me about Vincent Price's accent in this movie. Does he sounds British here?
If I asked nicely, would he sell me the score?
