- Music from the soundtrack to the 1978 film "The Medusa Touch" starring Richard Burton & Lee Remick. The music is written by Michael J. Lewis. The selections are: "Murder & Aftermath", "Destruction of the Cathedral", & "End Title".
Excellent soundtrack for this film. It's like a beast trying to claw its way out of a cage, becoming stronger, underscoring the growing catastrophic resentment inside Burton's character.
If I could direct a remake, I'd have Antony Hopkins as Molar and set it in a post 9/11 setting, heightened security and Scotland Yard would believe the catastrophies were terrorism but find out all too late....If only I could.
'I am the man with the power to create catastrophy'.....Even more scary when Burton delivers that line.
Burton is terrifying in this Movie and the music elevates his performance greatly.
So ahead of it's time. The scene with the airplane always horrified me.. and since 9/11, it is even more chilling.
I've been listening this for the past few days and I even watched the movie last night. It's a definite classic!!! Burton at his finest!!!
An obscure gem. I bought the CD from the composer.
p.s. I also mused that by the end of the film Molar would use the immense power of his mind to completely repair his head - the final shot would be of him removing his bandages while Brunel and the Consultant are still reacting to the 'Windscale' scrawled note, then they'd look up and see his scarred face - staring at camera as the words 'I am the man who has the power to create castastrophie' is heard. (Molar may even mouth the words, dunno). I imagine this sort of shit from time to time...lol
"I have a gift for disaster"
Sweeping your mind, torchering you, snatching you to other reality and slowly you start frightening and then force you to understand that this is a masterpiece music. Minute by minute you becoming infected of the answer : what the final will be ? Only high talanted composr could bring this. Thank you to Michael J. Lewis
one of the best movies and the soundtrack is so amazing like so much !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great music
this music makes you imagine what hell could be like!.......scary !
Classic film!
Film grandioso... Non ci sono scene terrificanti, eppure fa paura (almeno a me), decisamente complice la colonna sonora, che fa volare l'immaginazione al di là del raziocinio..... Bello!!!
been in love with this film since I saw it at the cinema in1979
