Thanks for the in-depth review! We do have to suggest one little correction to the information provided in your video. You mentioned the A1 mini is among the latest generation Klipper machines, but in fact, all BambuLab printers' motion control FWs are not related to Klipper.
I heard it was referred to as KLIPPER Subset firmware so not a 100% Klipper but does leverage some Klipper. The key i think was the plug and play aspect with all the critical setup features that makes it better than most. 500mm/s is damn good. D
To piggyback on this comment, there's also minor clarification needed at 5:12 - the mouse kit is one of the extra goodies that can come with orders right now, and may not be included in the future. However, all the kits are available to purchase on the Bambu Labs store.
any proof that its not kilpper based?
proof?
How do you feel taking so much from the open source community and not giving back?
Aurora, you have the best printer reviews of anyone on CZcams. Please keep up the good work, please don't stop, thank you. I'm not even interested in a small, bed Slinger, multicolor printer, and yet I still watched the entire video, i'm hooked.
I learn something every time watching these videos. For me it's not always about the product review, but the process they went through in discovering the various features and problems, and then fixing some of them on their own.
This is an unusually consistent channel in that regard.
This channel is one of the most professional ones, thankfully no silly goofiness as most other channels include. Still this channel has a nice narrative and provides knowledgeable and honest reporting. I love it for these reasons. Regarding the filament “poop”, I’m hoping for a home appliance that would melt it all down and then make new filament regardless of it being a bad color, since you can always paint your prints. There is so much innovation mentality in Shenchen that maybe such a machine can be bought by a hobby user one fine day.
true! good indebt information. she knows what she is talking about
There are attempts to recycle filament at home but it just isn’t worth it for now, the machines to produce filament of decent quality and in a decent amount of time are expensive.
There are companies that recycle prints. For the average user it's just not worth it. 12-20€/kg for cheap filament...that's ~330m.
It's the same with pet bottles. You need at least 40 bottles to get a kg of filament from pet bottles. Some countries have as much as 0.50€ deposit per bottle...totally uneconomical for crappy filament.
You can always try a diy filament extruder but from what I have seen they are just a hassle.
Maybe some lokal maker space provides recycling service?
Bigger print farms are doing their own filament and recycling as well. They get a very good quality (which they need in production). Slant3D is trying to get to 10$/kg and to sell their in-house filament.
@@heavyweather Yes, it seems like most heavy printer users would be best served by going to a local maker group to recycle filament, or even organize a group buy for a $15k filament grinder + extruder.
There's people who buy filament off you. It's important however that it is only one type of filament, which does not apply here. Will surely be interesting to see how recycling is done here.
And there we go again, First, we ordered the Sunlu Dryer, and Now this little beast. Your impact on our wallets is dangerous. Please understand how much we respect you. Best 3D reviews online.
Great job on this review. No nonsense or clickbaity comments, a very logical approach to testing, and thoroughly analysis of the results. Really one of the best technical reviewers I've seen. You should be proud of your work.
Your channel is so underrated. Keep up the good work!
You give the best, most concise reviews out there. Good job!
Incredibly concise and professional review. Covered everything and a lot more.
I love the quality, the format and the seriousness of this channel ❤️
Great review as always!!! Thanks for sharing with us!!
Best 3d printer tech review channel on youtube! Thank you very much for all these info.
Best 3D printing/tech review channel on CZcams! Keep up the great work! 👍
I Love you!
You really invest your all in giving us in-depth reviews, easing our decision making
Well I am sold. Thanks for making this detailed video.
I really like the structure of your reviews, the tone, tempo... Serious, square. Thanks
An exceptionally thorough review including information and tests not done in other reviews. I recommend your channel regularly to people for your top notch content. Thanks, Aurora Tech!
Another great review! Very informative as usual, thanks 👍
The only serious non overhyped reviewer on CZcams on the topic of 3d printers. Another great review. Was waiting for this one!
You make the best new product reviews out there.
I'm still amazed at your age.
I'd love to see some more in-depth maitainence videos, or follow ups after 6 months or a year of service to see how the machines hold up, and if you have any tips or tricks for common necessary repairs.
you done it again!!!! this is my next all in one printer. do not need abs or asa in my life right now. thanks for the review and do some more
Yes! Thank you so much for the rewiew. Just bought one😊
Great work comparing the A1 Mini to other printers, including ones much bigger than it like the X1C and MK4. I was most interested in the noise levels, so it was nice to see numbers (with measurement distance!) for fast and slow prints with the A1 Mini. Your technical in-depth approach reminds me a lot of Teaching Tech, so I'm happy to subscribe and see future reviews & printing content.
Very good content! the testing you conducted are just what I needed to make up my mind buying this machine! U just earned a new sub~
I’ve owned three creality machines prior to my x1c - I’ll never buy a creality machine again. The Bambu printers are what 3D printers should have been all along. Can’t wait for a large bed variant. Excellent review video
Same situation. All 3 Enders delegated to very specific end uses and the P1P/AMS is the workhorse. No more tinkering and it just works every print.
I said the same thing then got a K1.... And realized why I said it the first time. Woof that K1 was returned within 48 hours.
The irony is that we wouldn't be where we are without Creality and the Ender 3.
Sorry, i can't afford a Mercedes guys
Too bad that bambu's privacy policy isn't about privacy at all
Nice review. I especially like how the core of your review wasn't just spouting tech specs but by printing things. I found this to be very helpful.
Thank you for this fabulous review. You convinced me to buy it. Keep it up. 💪
Thank you. You were the only one who listed the cons of a single extruder and multi-color printer. I didn't think so much filament was wasted, I would definitely buy it now without the multi color. You are a precious gem of 3D printing, may God always bless your honesty.
The amount of waste is excessive... due in part to the multicolor changes BUT it also has to do with how much the printer wipes in those little "poops", it's too much IMO...
A 4 color print with Bambu's mini AMS or full AMS is often 2X to 3X the wasted filament than what the print actually uses. Its ridiculous and why I stopped using my AMS on my P1P after 2 uses......And that was AFTER using purge into infill and other "tweeks"
Agreed. Even just printing in 1 color the amount of filament that Bambu wastes is just not acceptable. I don't think it needs to purge the nozzle after every print (at least not a 5 second purge)@@geort45
It's such a small thing, but I love the little clicking sound during the honeycomb box. The motors are making next to no noise. It's like 3d printing ASMR
What a great review, thank you for covering comparisons with other printers, print speed, measurements of waste material, etc. Just superb.
Bambu is killing it! They've achieved what I always wanted from 3D printing. Press 'print' > collect object. I HATED tweaking and adjusting, and modding. Just ordered my second X1C today, and am trying to justify ordering one of these too. Thanks for the great detailed review!
They did a great marketing, with that amount of complex sensors and a closed hardware and software I would like to see what is going on in the next years of use. Prusa acts differently and let you repair the printers virtually forever
read their terms of service and you wont want to use it lol have fun giving all your info to china if you have it connected to the internet
@@chedil08 keep in mind, many of us have had our X1C for well over a year. Mine is still printing just as well and fast as it did the first day. They make a solid product! My Prusa however, has been nothing but a problem since day 1 with horrible customer support. not saying everyone experiences this, but I certainly did.
@@woofguy i know there are fanboys of both brands
In the same Benchy here... I'm converting my farm from the current printers to a Bambu Lab farm... at least until a better option comes along...
Love the video, I appreciate the hard work you done doing that video :) 🔥
By far, this is THEEEEEEEE most sincere effort someone gave for a thorough review which I have seen.
Subscribing to your channel is really worth for we people!!
Thanks for the review!
This was the review I have been waiting for!
Anytime I want to know about a new 3D Printer with Honest reviews, I go to your channel!! Thanks Aurora Tech.
Fantastic review! Kudos to BBL for supporting your excellent work!
Thank You for your video. Great job as usual. Do you have any insight on the larger versions of the A1? Build volume?
Outstanding CZcamsr review outstanding device. Perfect 👍
Aurora Tec is the greatest and most professional review on YT. Parents should be proud
Finally saw you make the A1 mini video.
Agree this is a great 3d printer for PLA and PETG user who don't want to spend time to tune it.
Another Great video as always 👍
Thanks for a very nice review, Aurora. You really deserve more followers. I've read the online starter manual and it says "When there is excessive resistance during filament feeding, the filament hub is pulled down, causing the magnet to move closer to the Hall sensor and triggering a filament entanglement alert." I haven't seen any other testers complain about FEalert, so could it be a mechanical problem at the hub of your printer?
thorough review, solid work Aurora!
I think this is the one i've been waiting for to dip my toes into this hobby.
nice thorough review as always!
🤔I wonder if the filament tangle sensor was getting tripped up by the large spool's weight along with the TPU adapter you used since its flexibility would keep it from moving immediately when the AMS pulls the filament through (specially at higher speed start/stop extrusions).
👆I imagine this could easily be confirmed or disproven by printing another adaptor in something rigid like PLA.
I would also be curious about the first layer issue you've noticed & would appreciate any update about it.
cheers & looking forward to the next video!
Awesome job keep it up
"Your review of the Bambu A1 and other 3D printers is more detailed and in-depth than other CZcamsrs. I appreciate it. Thank you!"
I like your review of this printer. I’m still considering one just to have for smaller prints so I can keep my X1’s and P1P running for larger prints or to be able to have a quiet machine running when the need arises
Purchased through your link. This is a great farm machine.
I understand how early entry into a technology space can be difficult; I had a steep learning curve which started 6 years ago. Now, entering this space, I would just sit back w/r/t 3D printing and spend much more time completing and/or improving designs of functional robotic parts. You rarely use superlatives but this video has many. Of course, I completely agree.
I am the owner of a Prusa mini, it works very well but I think I will also buy a Bambu Lab A1 Mini, rather than siding with one of the two parts I prefer to have both, this Bambulab A1 mini is fantastic like your review! Well done!
Great video!! I am waiting with bated breath for my A1 to be delivered.
Wow ....now thats what you call a proper review. Having spent a few days trying to find answers and listening to far too many 'Americanisms' being presented at maximum volume I came across this video. You answered every single one of the questions I had clearly and extremely well explained. More importantly though you didn't go off at a tangent and kept on pain throughout. Your presentation is extremely professional and a pleasure to watch and listen to. Thanks for this I have subscribed and wish I had found your channel sooner. Totally Excellent ... I have ordered the machine with AMS and am fully aware now of the pro's and cons'.
Amazing review!
RIP PRUSA its been a pleasure, great video as always Aurora
Really nice review. Probably my favorite A1 Mini review released so far. Like others have said no gimmicks or goofy stuff just straight to the point. After watching this I'll definitely pre-order just the A1 Mini whenever its made available. Not interested in the combo at the moment. $299 for the tech in that is too good to pass up.
Good review. I actually learned something. Like and comment more than deserved. 👍
Just bought 2 p1s machines. Probably going to buy 2 of these as well.
Very nice printer !
I am however amazed that they don't flush/change color within the print ? Who cares what the infill looks like, you will never see it anyways ! So much wasted filament....
Thank you for this review :3
Theres a slicer option for that
That can be done though, it is a slicer option in Bambu slicer. Result depending on object infill surface squared.
I'll copy what I said to someone else:
There are various ways to mitigate this. One of which she showed.
But you can also reduce the purge amount, flush into other objects/infill/supports or print a whole different object using the filament that would normally be pooped out. That's what I usually do. And then I get objects with really unique colours. And if need be, I can always paint them.
I'm not sure why she didn't note the other mitigation methods.
So it's possible to mitigate it, it just requires some cleverness on the part of the user.
I don't really see any other solutions, aside from multiple print heads.
Cannot wait for mine to show up. This will be my first 3d printer. I purchased it W/ the AMS. I am an FPV drone pilot so it'll be mainly used for drone components & such. But will also be used for much much more. Very excited.
Great Video as always! This is the only channel i watch for a A1 review, because only Pro/Cons and best for your Money. No Hype or so for this and that. Brand-Fans are needed, i understand this 100%, but the most want the best for the money. I love my Prusa Mini+, my Ender3 is more a Lab as it shoud print...For me the only Reason for Prusa was more the Community behind and what they do for the community and the hole Ecosystem. Bevor Bambulab there was not really a company that sold the high Quality as Prusa. Today is Bambu and Prusa. In the consumer space. I don't know, today for this "little" Money, Prusa or Bambu, what i buy hard decision! Prusa is Open Source, Bambu is cheap and both high Quality....hard choice!!!
Industrial Printer a completely other Dimension, i never saw a bad review on a 500k Machine. That's could be interesting Video: Pros and Cons about a 500k "what ever" Printer type! I never saw a review on a 10k or even higher price printer!
Anyway, great Video and greatings to all!!
Thank you for the awesome review!
Can you please share the link of the STL for expanding the center part of filament spools for the ams?
I researched 3d printers for 3 days after seeing one on a remote control car channel, she had the creality ke, then i read some reviews and wanted to print not repair. Was going to order the prusa but too expensive to ship to Canada, heard about bambu not being open source but then heard that was not true, was looking at the A1 but due to recall not available until May. So, not really knowing anything about 3d printers, i didnt think i woud be making any large objects anyway so ordered the A1 mini, hopeing i made the right choice for me. Thanks to your in depth review, i feel confident it will meet my needs. Happy to see i could print the transformer, if i ever get that brave with it. At 60 years, this will be a learning experience for me😢
Another excellent review.
Ordered mine Monday the 16th at about 8am
While my friends and I debated between Bambu mini vs Prusa offerings, I suggested we wait for your thoughts. Your thorough review did not disappoint! Thank you so much for sharing.
It should be obvious by now that Prusa's line is really dated. Prusa really needs to up its game if it wants to stay relevant.
@@yeroca As always for the last 2-3 years..
Flashforge...Better than both@@mrbilginc
I spent to many years tweaking printers just so they would print a decent print,,, i cant wait to get my hands on a "ButtonPusher"-.
Great Review as always-.
Excellent Review, looking forward to ordering the printer only, When it's available, Not interested in the AMS
Getting mine tomorrow! 😊
As far as I remember, you were the only one who said anything negative about this “miracle” printer in your review (e.g. the not-quite-optimal auto-bed-leveling). Thanks and keep it up!
Another excellent review!
Excellent Video!!!
"I'm impressed by your new sample test titled 'Single Layer Print.' I look forward to future comparisons between the Bambu X1, P1P, and other 3D printers in the context of 'single layer print.' Thanks!"
I always fill up the build plate when I can when doing multicolor to lessen the waste overall if I know I will print more anyway. Print time doesn't increase all that much. Win win.
Another great video! Thank you!
I am sold with the mini!!
Awesome and thorough review as always! One question: Did you tighten the 3 screws under the bed before printing?
Great review! You are so funny when you are saying: Todayyyyyyyy! lol ;)
Great review. How much space does it occupy with AMS and a bin to catch the waste?
The head cleaner idea is cool
dam this is a fantastic print! for sure ideal for kids and in school
Thx🎉
Wonderful. Really like your reviews. I am brand new to 3d printing but watch many videos. One really beginning question. What is the filament tower for? Your video is one of the first that I noticed it when you printed the grimmice model. It seems to wastes a lot of filament. Just curious. Thank you for all your great work.
Best review yet, thank you, very detailed, I take it PLA at the high temp is due to the speed ?, looking forward to getting mine
Yes it does, when printing at higher speed, I will increase the nozzle temp to 230.
Amazing review, definitely made my top list for next 3d printer, the multiple colours look awesome but the waste from the poop makes it to costly and to much time, I saw it said 80 filiment changes thats crazy.
The print quality looked great with zero stringing at no effect playing with settings.
👍👍👍
Thank you for this review! This or the P1S may be my next 3D printer! My only major turnoff is the bed size vand the inability to support high temp filament. Is the 3DP mouse they have you print decent to use? Also is the account stuff completely optional? I'd like to not need yet another account to use a "smart" machine. Good tips on the AMS printing for saving filament btw. Super useful for those of us looking to buy this. Also don't drink Grimace's Milkshake lmao.
Stay awesome and keep making these great reviews!
Hey Aurora, do you think this compares to the Voron 0.2
Also Would you do some videos on that specific printer? thank you Aurora! i love your videos so much
Great video. How loud would you say it is in comparison to the X1C? I've just got the X1C and it's so noisy, even when in silent mode. So I wonder if this is any quieter? On the video is sounds more like fan noise than vibration an stepper motors, which may be better for me
Great video! It seems like, once a few bugs are worked out, we finally have a sub $300 printer worth recommending to newbies?
Looking forward to dumping my Prusa Mini in the thrift store bin and getting the A1 mega kit!
You are My favourite female CZcamsr!
Great review as always!
Ive got mine yesterday, and im very pleased so far. Regarding the tangle sensor... It is located at the extruder, its a spring mechanism at the filament hub. If it cannot pull from the ams (or external spool for that matter), the hub will be pulled down actuating a magnetic switch. With that in mind, I think you are putting to much friction on the ams with your TPU-Printed spool adapter, is it maybe rubbing against the frame? It is obvious that the sensor switch is triggered when you look in frames of the video, where this is happening. :)
I asked BambuLab, and they said it's an issue they will fix and release firmware updates to address that.
@@AuroraTech have they fixed it
Great video!
Well it seems we have the SpaceX equivalent in 3D Printing. Just taking everything that we want and making it so. Great review, you took the time to run it through through the ringer. Very comprehensive and so professional. Amazing effort and results Thank You all so much. D
I came back with a question. I have shared this link with my print friends. I was only interested in a small parts production printer. This fits that need without the multifilament attachment. But as I watched more videos I realized with smart part design. the multicolor parts could be small panels not whole parts. For my trains the dashboard of engine cab can be a small panel with knobs, tubing and gauges all printed into one part a small panel that fits inside the cab and can be back lit with LEDs. This starts to get exciting. Then Look at the cost. $300 for a very high tech printer. the Bundle is $460 so the Adaptor is $160 extra. 50% the cost of the printer. In reflection one can think the Printer is discounted for the value and the Multi filament adaptor is a fair cost for what you get in flexibility. The waste is so painful to see, BUT if we design the color parts in small panels that can reduce the waste and use the feature only where is needed. Does any of that dialogue make sense as I try to justify ordering the combo today and not wait for the AI Mini alone later. Thank You for all you do for the education of users in this amazing hobby. As a Young Engineer graduating College in 1971 we thought of the engineering processes and DREAMED of such capability. And here we are as i am in retirement working in my dream environment. Although I still want a mini Mill for metal work. Converting my Dremel to a Mill has stalled. You take care I can not imagine what you will see at your retirement, great times for curious minds, All the best, D
Great review. Are you going to review the P1S? Never had a 3D Printer and I’m torn between these two.
I am looking for my first ever 3d printer and print my first ever print. I am only going to use TPU for my FPV racing drones and wondering if this would be a good option? Also will only be doing one color at a time per print. Thanks for the content.
Would the AMS Lite work if it was hung upside down above the printer to reduce table space? I suspect the length of each tube must remain uncut do to presets for the filament changes?
I'm about to buy a 3d printer for 28mm table top minature figures, being a total newbie which printer would you recommend that does the best quality prints without hassle or visible flaws at a small scale, Thank you :)
Love your videos :)
It's the MINI factor that is really holding me back on this machine.
I can't deny it's a great machine but that loss of ABS, PC, ASA and NYLON is tough to get past. It's a great multi material printer for under $500 that works well. It's tugging on me but I am going to wait for the bigger form factor Bambu Lab when it's released.
Outstanding Review as always.
Maybe they will produce a "midi" with a larger form factor, somewhere around 250x250.
@@Tom--AceThat's twice the price and a worse printer. As shown in this video, the A1 has better print quality than the p1s/p1p. Plus, the p1s/p1p doesn't have tangle-detection or pressure-advance calibration.
I'd say for the next Bambu Lab printer, the X2 or whatever they'll be calling it. Dr. Turbo mentioned it'll similarly revolutionary to how the X1 was when it came out.
"Mini" printers are great as 2nd printer if you print a lot. They are more power efficient, can achieve same quality with less money and are more silent.
If you will print small parts on big size printer, you may spend more money on power because of heat bed, than on material.
I owned Prusa mini and small size limited me in 10% of the cases. Limited material selection limited me in 5% - the beaty of 3D printing is that if you need the part to be stronger, just design it thicker. As I remember, the strength increases with thickness exponentially.
@@colororb4105 worse is subjective, yes the test prints were better on the A1 Mini but that doesn’t mean it is a better printer. Most of the time you don’t need to worry about tangles and the default pressure advance settings are fine. The A1 Mini is for printing PLA, TPU and maybe PETG, nothing else. The P and X series printers have hotter and larger beds meaning more materials are possible and the P1S and X1C are enclosed meaning even more materials.
If you only need to print small PLA pieces then the A1 Mini is a good choice, but if you need to print larger pieces in more types of filament then the P1S or X1C is much better.
The specifications for the recommended printers on the website for the AnyCubic Kobra 2 Pro seems to be wrongly showing the specs of the non Pro version of the Kobra 2.
