I know that giving a luxury fruit as a gift is normal in japan, but seeing majima randomly pulling out a watermelon in the middle of a conversation is hilarious to me
it's literally the excuse to get sister chan to go to the store and out of the house to talk about guns and murder plans... damn, you just got Mad Dogged without even trying
laugh at it all you want, but it's very common practice in japanese culture. it is called "熊づくり", referring to both the act of sculpting bears and the fear of death that causes one to sculpt bears
No one really mentions, that unlike 95% of Yakuza bosses, Minami actually tries to excuse someone's error instead of just going like "But u did it once, fuck if it's a accident, imma kill u"
I'm flabbergasted by the fact that this video doesn't have Akiyama walking in to the wife of the guy that scammed him in a bath full of money or Kiryu's questionable QTE from 3
I remember going back and playing Kiwami. It was silly, but nothing like this. I think that's because Yakuza 1 was before the franchise truly discovered its identity. I mean, Majima's always been goofy, but as the games go on, the rest of the world gets sillier and sillier.
Yakuza 1 plot is "beat up the brother dude and everyone else you come across." Not even Kiwami could save a plot so shallow. It is understandable considering it is the initial pitch game of the series and the troubles they had to get the Ryuu ga Gotoku project get approved in the first place. It ended up costing them 21 million USD to make. A lot of the content was cut from the game. That means people are by default against the idea and therefore you only get a 30-second pitch to describe and sell your game idea and the plot setting to the management. With that hurdle out of the way, Yakuza 2 was vastly better plot-wise, perhaps the best in the series. Even though Ryuji Goda in it is a buffer version of Nishiki with almost identical plot points, heroic sacrifices and what not. In contrast, in Yakuza 3 you play with kids and dogs and molest a fat man. :D "Originally [Yakuza 1] had scenes where pinky fingers were cut off, a traditional punishment, but these scenes were removed so that CERO would give Yakuza a favorable rating."
The series definitely got more of what it is in 2. Both Kiwami 2 and the PS2 original have the hilarious Gondawara family baby men. That one thug just clapping in the nursery always cracks me up.@@ihavenoson3384
Unlike marvel, throwing cheap joke into a serious moment and ruined every emotion and impact of the scene, in yakuza, when they joke, they goes over the boundaries, when they serious, they are 100% serious
Yeah, there's an article from an investigative journalist that interviewed a family of yakuza asking if Yakuza 3 was accurate portrayal of yakuza or not. Some were accurate, but one person noted that Kiryu's outfit looks tacky and invited more troubles than one.
3 is super underrated. All the orphanage stuff was great, imo it really fleshed out Kiryu making him more 3-dimensional. And the combat really isn’t that bad.
8:05 I love Akiyama with all my heart but I'm genuinely devastated that he robbed us of a Minami Get To The Top version putting my faith in the AI cover community 🙏🙏

I'm glad they switched main characters. Kiryu was starting to become a self-aware parody in Y3. You cannot sell tickets and betting for a fight where you know Kiryu teh Legendary Yakuza will always win 1-on-1.
Still angry that "literal nobody Guard C (Saito)" is the most powerful enemy in the game. He literally beats on people who cant fivht back, how is he so good at this
Yakuza 3 is even less serious, due to an awful amount of kitchyness. (Not even to mention the bull-scene, or the fact, that during a main mission, shots where fired in public, by a professional and the police just didn't fucking bother showing up.)
@@klarapetrijevcanin For me that would be Yakuza 4. I feel like having more than 3 protagonist just makes a story too hard to tell. Yakuza 4 did horrible with its story. It’s boring, short, completely unexciting. It’s pretty uneventful in Akiyama’s part, one of Tanimura’s chapters is literally 15 minutes long, Saejima’s beginning is awesome but his middle and end aren’t half as good. The best part was honestly Kiryu’s in my opinion. And it wasn’t that great either. The Finale was pretty awesome though. I feel like Yakuza 5 has a much better story that connects the 5 characters in a much more organic and interesting way.
