Having served as a guitarist in the Foo Fighters for over 10 years now, Chris Shiflett has left his mark on some of the biggest rock riffs of the 21st century. That would have given us plenty to discuss in our video interview, but we had so much more to cover, like the development of Chris' signature Fender Telecaster, his amp and pedal rigs, and tips for musicians just getting started.
When not on tour, Chris talks with his country and rock heroes on his podcast, Walking The Floor, and needless to say, he had more than one awesome story to tell us about those legends. Finally, we even got to ask Chris a few questions submitted on Facebook by his die-hard fans.

Chris is a fantastic lead guitarist, but his secret weapon is playing in sync with Pat Smear. There's lots of duet playing going on. It's very similar to what ACDC does between two guitars.

The dynamic between the 2 is great. I’ve noticed that The Strokes are also one of the best when it comes to that

If I'm not mistaken, I think he also uses a Friedman Amp (I've seen him using one) apart from the AC-30s

They were using the rectos early on so when they were using Mesas they were using the Road Kings mostly. I've heard in the studio they don't use Mesas AT ALL!

I agree with him about Wah/Volume pedals, that’s why I avoid them as much as possible

Chris is a working man's guitarist. He doesn't talk about his life or politics but gear. The sweep is a big factor in how those solos are played in the wah wah.
