I was at a large regional car show and met a young kid shooting on the ZV-E10. He was super stoked to get some affirmation about the littlest Alpha. I've been shooting FX for a while and we traded bodies for a moment. Stunned at how light the ZV is, even with that old silver telephoto they used to sell with the early A6x bodies.

Got my sony zv e10 a while back and loving it ever since.
Took it for so easy and not so easy hikes, shot some vlogs, talking head videos , some pictures.
I am far from being a professional photographer or videographer, but 99% of people who are buying this camera aren't either.
So far no regrets. Great video , glad there are some people pushing for actually using camera it rather than upgrading without developing skills :)
Great suggestions and challenge. I have been shooting film cameras since 1972. All these things you talked about has come naturally now after dealing with cameras that basically operated manually. Since I moved to Digital a few years ago, it was a wakeup call. These digital cameras are light years ahead of my old Nikon FE2, my favorite film camera. The features are new, like zebra, etc. What I do like is that these cameras still can be operated manually, like my old cameras.
I got my daughter the ZV-E10 because she needs something for akin to a vlogging camera that has more features, like the flippy screen. I will give her this site to check out how to use these digital cameras to the max. Hope she can do something great as she and her husband run a CrossFit gym and can get good video of what goes on in there.
As for the ZV-E10, I also got one for myself to use and have found it to be a great video camera, especially on a gimbal. It's quite different than my A7R3, which is used for other purposes. The E10 is a fun camera, light and out of the way and should make a great camera for general street photography as no one is going to notice it.
What is great about your videos is you cover items simply so anyone can understand them. Others just zip from feature to feature so fast I find it hard to grasp. With all these menu items, it takes time to learn and learn where the item is. It's easy to get lost. Knowing how to maximize the E10 can have one producing videos and pictures that rival cameras that cost 3 times the cost of the E10.
Great videos! I found more genuine information from your channel, compared to other channels. In fact, it was one of your videos which showed me the value of the kit lens, while others were just trashing it. After all, its all about the way we take the photos, gear is secondary. Thanks man!

Good video, couldn't agree more! I just upgraded from my ZV-1 by adding a ZV-E10, but not without months of hesitation, watching tons of CZcams reviews and wondering if I really had to spend nearly 1.900$ for an a6700 in order to get a perfect APS-C-camera (Yeah, these are crazy expensive in Germany, Sony is really ripping off its European customers...) or if the ZV-E10 would be enough to do the job. Now I'm quite happy with my decision to go for the ZV-E10 as the 1.500€ I saved that way allowed me to buy a selection of good lenses. Paired with an excellent lens like the Sony 15mm f/1.4, the ZV-E10's image quality is crazy good and it's so lightweight: 560g with the 15mm f/1.4 and less than 700g even with a long telephoto lens like the 55-210mm! I was a bit afraid of the rolling shutter, but I quickly realized that's not really an issue as long as you use the camera in a normal way without panning around like crazy. Only thing that sucks is the lack of IBIS, but that's also manageable by choosing primarily lenses with OSS. Probably I will still upgrade to the a6700 in a year or two when prices have gone down significantly, but until then I am having a lot of fun with the ZVE-10.
Something the only other Channel I think we can 100% trust said that stuck with me & literally answers it all (this Channel now makes 2 trustworthy IMO!!) is something like this:
“What these channels telling you to click their links & spend 2 months rent on never tell you is the camera itself isn’t really what gives you the quality!! It’s what accessories & lenses you add!! You can buy a low or mid range camera & have it perform close to, or even AS GOOD as a high end camera just by adding a gimbal (which is a good thing to have anyway if you want pro looking video shots like B-Roll), pick the right lenses for what YOU need your camera for & choose the right settings for your situations & gear!!”
& as for lenses, he even mentioned there’s things like adapters that have their own firmware updates so you can use countless lenses WITH the all lense features like auto tracking ect still working that otherwise wouldn’t fit your camera (although be careful cause some adapters can damage your camera - he said make sure the ring where it contacts with your camera has a smooth chrome finish & isnt “brushed metal” (porous) that’ll scratch up where it connects to your camera over time)…. So basically there’s majority of your limits on lenses gone too!!
He had countless expensive cameras & lenses cause it’s his profession (YT isn’t his job) & he still uses his cheaper ZV-e10 more than his super expensive cameras just with good lenses (& adapter if needed). Every YT video he still shoots on his e10. He prefers it even over the e1. He’ll still use his “better” cameras if he’s working for some scenarios, but the e10 is still his favourite & I was shocked to finally learn almost every video I’d watched was on the e10, just different lenses & accessories… This was a pro too. An older man…
That guy + this video has made me feel SO much better & gosh, of course!!! It makes so much logical sense too!!
You can buy a $250,000 car but if you got crappy & inappropriate type of tyres on, that’s the performance & ride you’ll still get…
- Your camera is only as good as your settings, accessories, lenses & willingness to play & experiment .

And as you mentioned, jump on the CZcams wagon for insight, only to be more confused. I've been shooting my content using the Sony ZV1, GoPro Hero 11 and GoPro Max (yep still rockin the MAX). Brother, You can't even imagine how True to Life this Video is for many out there. Just want to say I got myself a Zve10 a while ago. Coupled it with Tamron 1770, 18 300, and Viltrox 56 1.4. Let me just say Zve10 is as capable of Producing Pictures and Videos on par with Quality as any other Top end Sony Cameras like a7m4 or even a7R5. It's got an Amazing AF system,especially Eye Autofocus works like a Charm. Videos are sampled from 6k,and then compressed to 4k. So, the output is Tech Sharp. My final point is if You have some basic command of Photography, and got a few good glasses, what You could do with this Tiny Piece of machine is insane - It's got You covered for Portraits, Landscapes, Product Photography Vlogging, Professional Video Shoots including wedding. So, if You are planning to get this one, go for it by all means. Just keep in mind it doesn't have IBIS which stands for In Body Image Stabilization, but most Sony Lenses come with OSS. So, it's not really any problem IMO. It's a very very very Capable machine. IMO the best in the Sony apsc line.

I could swear you were reading my mind in the first part of this video. I ordered an open box deal of this camera from Best Buy today for $609. I intend to use it to record my daughter’s soccer games for submission to colleges. I ordered based on a review from someone who had used it for filming sporting events. I made the mistake of sending guessing myself, tried to even cancel the order, but I didn’t have the option.
Then I came across Mark Bennett’s channel. He can’t stop raving about this camera after almost two years of having it. Between his videos, this video, and the video I watched on the “Beyond the Game” channel, I’m feeling very confident in my decision to buy this camera.
I think I suffer from the “I want the best bang for the buck” obsession that causes me to over analyze every tech purchase decision I make. I just need to be more disciplined in getting the product that best meets my needs and is at a price I can live with.
This is one of the best Photography videos I’ve seen. We are not worthy 🙌

Been running mine for a month now, have shot portraits and videos for side-hustle. Bought it with the Sony 35mm f1.8 OSS, Ulanzi WL-3 wide-angle kit lens adapter and 4 extra batteries (I think I need to invest more in lens and a cage tho). Personally, the pictures come out pretty nice. Rolling shutter in 4K video is a definite problem unfortunately.

Hi, i just bought a Sony ZV-E10 body only as it was on special offer in the UK. It is my first proper camera. I want to use camera and video functions. What lens would you recommend? I will likely buy the kit lens used as it will be a good place to start and understand the camera and work on my own skills. I really enjoy watching your videos 😊

I'm using the Sony 16-70mm F4 lens with Optical Steady Shot inside. Should I turn Steady Shot off or leave it on Standard for the ZV-E10?
It all depends on what you are shooting. I turn OSS on when zoomed in because it's gives me a very stable/usable shot.
There's really no WRONG answer as long as you are getting the picture you want out of the camera.

The internet makes it VERY DIFFICULT to buy "what fits us" because of the amount of salesmen there are out there!
Some people have good intentions however, most are trying to get views which causes them to constantly emphasize camera after camera, lens after lens, spec and spec and no one actually GROWS in skill or creativity.😢

What do you do with your SD cards? Do you reformat them once you have down loaded the content on to a secondary device like a SSD?
Yes! I will shoot my videos and dump them onto an SSD to edit.
I will then take the finished videos and all the files for B-roll and put them on a NAS (Network Attached Storage).

I have a question im planning to buy the zve10 but i see on the internet about fungus and you need to buy a dry cabinet, do i need ? it necessary and a high maintenance camera?
I have not run into this issues with my lenses or ZV-E10. The key is to store your lenses in a DRY place and maybe add some silica gel packs if fungus is an issue where you live.

I would put the question back on you. What are you doing with your camera and how/ is it holding you back?
Often times we THINK our camera or camera gear is holding us back from getting what we want out of it but often times it's a lack of practice and a lack of skill!
Determine HOW your camera is holding you back.
Q. How do you know when your camera is holding you back? A: When your ideas can no longer be put on screen because of a limitation of the camera itself!
Example: You have been shooting for 2 years on a sigma 16 mm 1.4 and you have been hired to shoot a golf event for a company. They are requesting close up shots of the golfers as they begin to swing but you can't be on the green with them!
Now you have an issue! Your wide angle lens isn't going to allow you to get close enough to get the requested shots! Your gear has reached it's limitation and is HINDERING you from getting a shot you need.
This is when you start to research your gear!

Makes sense! This will be mainly used for a fitness content business and will require taking small vlogs, using the camera foe YT shorts, tik toks and taking photos.
I will have to look further and think but will the lens make a massive noticable difference to the content quality and photos, since I’ve never owned a zve10

It sounds like you have your mind made up on the ZV-E10! Id say either buy it or rent it to see how you like it.
It's a GREAT camera in it's price range and even hits ABOVE it's price range!

Lights, audio, and understanding the strengths of the ZV-e10 are what have encouraged me to use it more often.
Im noticing that jerky motions that contribute to the rolling shutter is a me problem and not the camera's fault.
To remedy this i have The DJI action 2/GoPro hero10 and a gimbal for when being incgnito isnt necessary.
I love what you said here because it's SO TRUE! I totally agree with everything you said.
The silver lining is that when a person does learn the lights, audio and other aspects of video, it makes being creative MUCH easier! Then when/if a person decides to upgrade, they will get FAR more out of it than just a pretty setup!

Old film cameras don't have nearly as much tech and assists that modern cameras have but somehow, some of the BEST pictures I have seen come from those cameras.
I am a FIRM believer that LIMITATIONS fuel problem solving and problem solving promotes creativity!

I sold my zve10 and a6600 just to upgrade to 1 fuji xt4. I miss them everyday fuji is great but my footage wasn't the problem it was My lack of growth in filmmaking. Before I upgrade any camera again I want to be an expert on composition, story, audio, lighting, and editing which I can say I am proficient but a master of none 😢
You have the right attitude! The only thing that stands in your way is the amount of time you put in!
If you stick to it, you will see improvements within weeks!

I just wish zv-e10 had at least 2k 120fps :( 1080p 120fps didn't look so good for me. Afraid to buy it because of that but maybe it was just youtube compression or lack of gimbal idk
I understand that.
I am not a huge fan or user of slow motion shots, but with the right lens and lighting, it actually doesn't look too bad (IMO).
Id say you may want to rent one and see for yourself if it's something you can tolerate. If it isn't, at least you didn't spend your hard earned money on something that won't work for you.🤷🏽♂️

well you are advising to control the exposure only using shutter speed but what if someone has a shaky hand like me the little guy has no stab and you get all the animals tummy in focus insted of eyes ...lol
I feel your pain! Shutter speed can reduce blur when it's fast enough. Also enough practice will teach you how to work WITH these limitations. That is the purpose of this exercise. To work out the issues and obstacles that hinder you from getting the shot you want.

Sony is wrong to market a bunch of low cost cameras which are actually good for photography as vlogging devices. I was buying a low cost lens changable camera as a present for my relatives who wanted to try to take photos only. Without too much research as no camera guy, then i bought the Canon M200 which i kind of regret due to the line has been discontinued and very few lenses available in the market....
INDEED !This Camera is good enough. Especially if we just use it for personal use like taking your kids photos or your family photos.I am also a beginner photographer and I felt the same, i felt like my camera is not good enough since i am not satisfied with the quality of photos that i am getting from it. Then after watching video from him and other photographer like Omar,I then reliazed the problem is ME and not the camera(its a hard pill to swallow).After learning that,I first learned about the camera and all the settings buttons etc. Then I started working on getting the right exposure by leaning how to use zebras and histogram. learning how to set your white balance to get the right colors. Learn how to use those lights around us and to use the right focus(THIS IS A MUST IF YOU WANT A SHARP PHOTOS).and lastly, always shoot raw and learn how to use lightroom,because half of the result happens in post.
The search for the best camera is an unending spiral. The best camera is the one that we have. So lets go out and practice more😂

No EV No Photo.
This device is geared towards video content creators and not someone who clicks photos.
For photos you can still get a a6100 new or used at a good price.
The same could be said for Cell phones which are used FAR MORE than stand alone cameras.
There are no rules that prevent anyone from using this camera as a stills camera, it all comes down to preference. There will be some challenges however, this is the case with ANY camera. The KEY is to develop the skill and have the ingenuity to overcome those obstacles.

Hey, which camera is better for beginner filmmaker: Sony zv-e10 or Sony a6100 (or eventually a6400). I want to buy my first camera and I can't decide which one would be good for me. I want to shoot short films (and most of them probably would be solo project. So which one of these cameras would be the best in your opinion?

If you are just starting out and you have never shot anything before, it really doesn't matter what camera you get. (All these cameras have similar picture quality)
I KNOW this is hard to hear because we are OFTEN told by people here on CZcams that there is a BETTER camera out there than the one you have or the one that you are looking at.
Although there are better cameras, we cannot actually take advantage of BETTER until we learn the basics and understand what we want out of our cameras.
My advice would be get the one that costs you the least amount of money and can get you up and running the quickest! Once you OUTGROW your gear, then you can start being more picky about what you want to buy into next.
Q. How do you know you have outgrown your gear? A: When your ideas can no longer be put on screen because of a limitation of the camera itself!
Most camera issues ALREADY have solutions.
1.) Low battery performance - External Vmount battery
2.) No Stabilization - use a gimbal or glidecam / add a cage with weight
3.) Not good in low light - Learn to use / bounce/ reflect / diffuse light /add flash
4.) Slow burst in photo mode - be more selective with your photos
Finding solutions to problems with your camera is what makes you a better person BEHIND the camera! Finding a camera that solves ALL your problems won't grow you.. it can make you lazy!
