  • I attempt to reset the central locking on the Rover.
Hopefully I did this in the right order.

Have a check of and wiggle all the under-bonnet fuses and relays. Power goes to the internal fuse box via the under-bonnet one. Even a stuck relay/ light corrosion can cause problems.

Hope you get it sorted in the end. Nice video

Simone...sometimes if u disconnect both battery terminals and touch the loose terminals together it re sets the system..if the cables arent long enough to meet use a shiny 10mm ring spanner to bridge it..only need to do it for 5 seconds... never do it with the battery connected...it could damage your ECU....... I had a very similar issue (even with the fuel gauge!) and it turned out to be my instrument pack. When I unplugged it the car returned to normal. Also, there is a box that controls the car security which is located just up and under the dashboard behind the cars diagnostic port. The box is white and held to the car's A pillar with TS30 screws (I think 5 point?). Water can get into this box via the windscreen or sunroof and cause all sorts of issues with the locking and security. The BCM is an easy check too but I have a feeling it'll be okay 👍

Buy an aliexpress fob and change the chip over (carefully). And the key blade The micro switches may have failed in the old fob. The original cars had the receiver under the handbrake. Susceptible tocoffee and liquids. But its more likely to be the fob.

Don't know much about them Simone but what I do know is regarding the Bcm on them Rover's and the Land Rover Freelander TD4. The Bcm can fail due to water ingress it could just be a bad earth. It might not be that but I had the same problem on a land rover Freelander td4 I replaced the BCM it worked after that seems to be a common fault. It wasn't fun getting to the Bcm on the Land Rover it was under the dash beside the brake pedal. 👍

Thanks for the input Ali, I am not looking forward to removing the clocks to get to the unit. Not the best location for it. Someone did say that the pcb in the fob might have a failed component but nothing looks bad.

This car shares remote control aerial receiver with Disco 2,mine went out and would only work very close to the car (try all over the car close),not sure of the location in the 75 but in the Disco it was in the headlining. Common fault.
Good luck see you around 👍

The brain for the central locking on the Rover 75 is behind the lighting switch?..i think just a couple of crosshead screws hold the panel in place...Bob......

Definitely the remote is not communicating to the vehicle, and the car starts because the chip in the key remote is paired with the immobiliser. I wonder, since you have a new battery inside the remote key, whether it needs to be paired again?

May be worth trying a hard reset on the electrics? Disconnect both battery terminals and then touch the leads together. Leave them touching for a few mins and then reconnect. May not work but worth a go.

Try holding the key very close to the drivers side door mirror when u press the button to lock and unlock...wouldn't usually be a fuse...has to be a major fault to make a fuse blow....Have u got another key Simone...?? ...Bob....

There is a Union inside the - there what is key to your key for unlocking and locking the vehicle that's not that hard to change but you might have to change your brain and the key to match it cause they're all keyed with a code no matching er if you've still got this problem

  • @LogitechXibanga

the problem is that your car is all F*** up and you have a wiggling key and need new brakes and all you are worried about is the locking system

    • @CortinasAndClassics
      @CortinasAndClassics  Před měsícem

Fob has been replaced so no more wobbly. pcb has a blown chip. brakes are fine, the pads don't have the sensor thing.

  • @stephenmorley5289

Why don't you buy a brand new battery for your fob men try it because you may have changed the battery you don't know how much juice is in the battery so why don't you go and purchase a new one and then try it says what I would do that sounds more sensible

I used to subscribe to Robson Rover, but instead of talking about cars, he went all woke pushing with identity politics, needless to say I unsubscribed.
