    Typically, the bit I'm looking for is the bit you missed out (extracting the blade) lol.

    Great little guide, buttons have just fallen into the key, so will be looking to replace very soon.

    I do key repair for MINIs on the side and the Rover 75 key is very similar to the first generation pre-facelift MINI key. The main difference is that the MINI shell is a two piece unit with the blade being pinned into the actual top half of the shell with the buttons instead of being in a separate plastic piece that fits into the bottom. A customer sent me a half-repaired MINI key using a Rover 75 shell as seen on the right (with the trapezoid unlock button) and needed the board mounted switches replaced. I can report that the aftermarket Rover 75 shells work well and the shell buttons press the board switches as they should. There is an aftermarket version of this three piece shell with a MINI "wings" for the unlock buttons where you see the trapeziod button. If you are repairing a MINI or Rover key AVOID THIS TYPE OF SHELL! The unlock button does not line up properly with the board mounted mircoswitch in some way and this type of shell just does not work. They are cheap, all over that giant online retailer that shall not be named, and should be avoided. The two piece shells with the MINI wings are fine, just avoid the three piece shells. One note on this repair, I would use much less glue to hold the plastic pop-in piece in place. It should lie flush with the bottom of the key, not stick out a mm or so like it does in your finished key. Here in the states we have something called "JB Weld" which is a two tube epoxy type glue and I use that to hold the key blade into the slot on the two piece shell (in addition to pinning it). I recommend just a very slight dab of this to hold the pop-in piece.

    Why did you need to change the key, just put the inners in the new shell or use the new button part only.

      I wanted a new shell. As I said in the video, the shell was looking tatty, and the buttons were damaged, but l didn't want a new key cut

    Hi hello. Recently I have been experiencing problem with revs keep on going 0.5to.010and above fluctuating.And no thing came up on diagnostic.can u help advice please

    I recommend NOT glueing the blade in. I'm just trying to repair one that I used glue on previously and the plastic clip on the blade won't come ouut at all.

      That may be the only problem, although I look at it as the original key fob was the age of the car 20 years old the new one should last easily as long, so should not be a problem for a long time
