It's carbon fiber so it probably works underwater. Just btw, it's probably a Luis and Clark, as well.
Expensive? I don't think so. They probably found the cheapest cellos they could for this video. No one will ever put a good instrument under water.
I'm familiar with the exact model that they're using. They're worth $10,000 AUD each... And they have electronic components...

I saw the carbon fiber cello go under an i was like, "that's edgy," then i saws the bow under water and started to cry.
jett sasser Bow hair isn’t affected by water. Neither does rosin. that’s like saying that horse’s hair alive will disintegrate underwater, or the sticks, which are made of carbon fiber. The rosin is heavily concentrated pine sap, which turns into dust the bow grabs with the horse hair. That dust won’t get dissolved in the water. I would be more concerned with the cello’s bridge, the end piece, the neck, and hopefully they installed mechanical plastic pegs, because those parts are usually made from ebony. And the soundpost... oh my.
A correction, the song was recorded by Tetos Demetriades back in 1927. Pulp Fiction's track is a revision.
Pretty sure the only reason anyone knows this song is thanks to Dick Dale in 1962. At least in America.
