the transition was so clean, I wouldn't argue if someone told me, this was the actual beginning of "The Trooper"
You know you wrote a good song when it can be played on different instruments and it still works great.
If you can hum it, then any man made instrument can play some form of it, because it all starts with hummin what comes into yer 'ead.
@@wulfengel You've hit on something fundamental to all good music and largely unrecognized by contemporary musicians, which is why their music is so forgettable. The melody makes the song.

As one of my friends always said, if Mozart was born in the 1970's he would have a metal band.
The exact point of Falco's video for Rock Me Amadeus.
Funfact: It took 360 years since the invention of that instrument for someone to come and play it properly. Thank you 2Cellos, now its your chance to start playing recorder (which btw is a really stupid name for a block flute)
Those bows tho....they give a whole new definition to the term "shredding"
I saw Led Zep playing on TV in the late 60's and Jimmy totally shredded a bow on his guitar.
Yeah
The bow must be the same, but electric strings are different than acoustic strings and chew the bows up.
Yes, it gives me anxiety when I say a bow that's on the verge of death.
I bet Stjepan gets upset when he goes a day without snapping a bow 😂
There was no smoke machine on that stage.
The smoke came from the frictions from the bows.

real metal-heads would never boo people playing classical music
From all the other genres, most metalheads also listen to classical music. (According to some studies/polls I have seen a while ago. :p)
Very true. I love classical music :D
Totally agree, while classical music does bore me slightly, I will listen to it in the background.
i prefer orchestral to classical myself. still wouldnt boo it though
Absolutely Folk/rock is one origin whilst the classics are another. Listen to Vivaldi's Winter from Four Seasons, Holst's Mars from the Planet Suite, Prokofiev's dance of the knights or Camille Saint-Saëns's Danse Macabre.
Then listen to Iron Maiden's Dance of the Dead and you'll get the idea, excellent music.
Holy moley.
For a long time I've been waiting to be caught off guard, wanting to find something musically that fills my heart with umph again. Its not easy, one finds oneself going over the same tracks one has heard a million times before and although its still great to listen, its also great to find something new. Proof positive that it is the musician, and not the instrument, that makes the experience.
One of the best piece EVER. I would also like a full version of the classical piece by 2 cellos, cause I love metal as much as classical, and their rendering of both are absolutely amazing.
me to.i wish they make a song with Dino Jelusick...now that would be a treat.
I do love both too!
Well, whenever I hear a classic metal song or piece covered with classical instruments, I have another proof that in the classical era, musicians were metal ones, just without electricity.
We can see how violin and cellos can be compared with a modern metal guitar and a bass.
:) czcams.com/video/uT3SBzmDxGk/video.html
I never thought I would see a crowd surfing cellist. There is no more to see.
And who better than Stjepan Hauser to start that trend :-)
double bass maybe?
You know you're bad ass when you break your bow from playing so damn good.
hahahahaha i agree
Those have to be props.
Happens all the time, it's just some hair falling off
Nope. They do wear out like that, especially with how they are playing.
Snapping that many hairs that quickly is bogus. I've not only watch a lot of wild cello and violin playing in my time but also my own wild cello playing. You don't snap that many hairs over a 6 minute piece of music. Or even a 12 minute piece of music. However, it is all part of the show. When I was watching the piano guys, he snapped one hair on his bow over a 20 minute piece. And they're wild.

As rock is a subgenre of blues and a genre by itself then metal is also considered a genre by itself. If it was not, Metal wouldnt have further subgenres like industrial or nü metal. I find it amusing and awesome that the William Tell Overture and The Trooper are about the same thing: a Cavalry Charge.
For those of you who aren't familiar with either song/pieces, the finale of William Tell describes a victorious Cavalry charge with William Tell living to tell the tale. Whilst the Trooper is about charge against the Russians (perhaps the infamous Charge of the Light Brigade?) that ends with uncertain outcome for the Trooper's Army but (spoilers) a sad end for the Trooper.
I'd like to think that this mashup describes a cavalry charge from the eyes of young Cavalryman (either Lancer, Dragoon, Hussar etc.), triumphant and certain at first as William Tell plays but when the Trooper kicks in the battle truly begins, as the cavalry clashes with the enemy artillery and the infantry protecting them, perhaps they even clash with enemy cavalry. The song ends either with a victorious outcome albeit a hard won one for the Cavalryman or it ends with uncertainty as he dies as the battle continues around him.
