Oh yeah, rooting for you in the Golden Demon Competition!
A good message would've been: "Please drink alcohol responsibly and in moderation!"
A shitty message (and product) is: "Hey, take our product and you can get even more drunk, because it maskes the warning signs your body is giving you!"
8:19 "The first of many good decisions" isn't to take anything to get completely hammered afterwards. This slogan is sugarcoating heavy drinking/alcohol abuse! In my eyes this product and advertising is irresponsible!
@@rainbird2002keep your pious opinions to yourself
@@rainbird2002 This was a massive oof for me too. Unfortunate way to make money.
@@rainbird2002 Yep what a weird product and sponso...
I know it’s not even close to the point of the video, but I gotta commend your bit of the ad where you talked about reusing the container. Pure, ecologically friendly, salesmanship.
The number of times I've purposefully bought a product just because of the hobby potential of the packaging...
I hate ecology for the masses while the elite travel in their expensive transports
Jon going all-in for that Golden Demon. Me: "What is he doing?" Morpheus: "He's beginning to believe..."
These videos are honestly my favourite of mine. They're not guides, but they always help me learn a little bit about how to improve something of my own. All while they are so much more entertaining than a mere guide :D
the metal on the shoulderguard is nothing short of breath-taking! Would love to see a in depth look at achieving that type of NMM steel
You're breath-taking!
Thanks for doing videos on smaller parts of larger projects! I know the algorithm doesn't encourage these, but they're just as valuable (or more!) as a few minutes of drilling the basics can be. We see lots of videos where dozens of hours are compressed into a short time, and lots more where the project *should* have taken dozens of hours but wasn't taken to completion because it wouldn't have made the shooting schedule. This messes with our expectations for the hobby, and leaves out a lot of the important details. Longer projects like this one should be shown in more parts and with longer videos, just like this.
I truly do enjoy videos where there is more passion behind them. You can tell when a creator is doing something they love, or a specific passion project vs having to release something on a schedule. Keep it up!
Heavily invested in this Golden Daemon project. I hope to see the whole project!
Always great to see the Midwest CZcams Painting All-Stars come together like the Justice League.
It's just an incredible paint job! I can not wait to see more of the unit together! Makes me want to paint, which is always the point!
These videos are always great, seeing the progress of bigger projects mixed in with your individual videos is something I always look forward to
You ve made incredible progress through the year. Congratz ! Keep going plz.
I'm so looking forward to seeing the final diorama. You really knocked this first model out of the park mate.
Some interesting points you mentioned about painting the first model.
Can't wait for the Vincey Con .
Have a great Christmas and New year mate.
Jon, great video as always! Watching this, one of the things I *really* appreciate about your videos is how you don't usually get hyper zoomed in on a specific technique the way Vinny V does. His videos are hugely helpful, but I really love watching your videos and almost always picking up another great little nugget because your videos typically have a larger scope. I feel like they really offer a little something for everyone, regardless our progress along our painting progression. This time, it was you noting how stippling is particularly helpful to avoid layer lines on curved surfaces- a real 'aha!' moment for me
This is just the kind of video I needed today. Especially your final remarks. I'm currently working on my first diorama I'm entering into a painting competition (LVO) and sure, it's been stressful, but it's been beneficial to my progress as a painter and extremely rewarding.
Look forward to seeing this complete!
Love you taking us on this journey!!!
Really love the mood so far. Looking forward to the final piece. I know it will really convey a story.
Very nice! Hope you have a very Merry Christmas; thanks for sharing your journey!
Yooooooooo, look at all them metal shirts. Untergang, Taake, Bolt Thrower, just so far.
Beautiful work. Well done!!!
I love this series pertaining to your diorama. I can't wait to see the next video!
Thanks for putting out content related to your painstaking high end projects. It is so inspiring to watch the process of working at this level. I am excited to see this piece come together! Happy holidays!
Love watching your golden demon videos. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the piece coming together
It's really inspiring to see you put in the work, Jon! I'm a few years several levels of skill below you, but I'm starting to get more and more focused on competition-level work, and seeing you climb the mountain over and over is just ... exactly what I needed. Thanks!
Looking incredible, Jon. Keep slowly making awesomeness.
That looks amazing. I am no where close to this talented but seeing these videos pushes me to keep at it.
Looks absolutely amazing!
I totally agree with your conclusion. I decided to enter a competition and was drawn to a Wrama-Hordes miniature. Something I don't play. I bought it because I liked the size of the model and I like the model itself. It was a werewolf thing. I wanted to do something "completely different". I didn't win. I didn't even really get any accolades from it. But it remains, one of my favorite models that I've ever painted. I tried new things, new ideas, new challenges on the model. I decided he should have a lot of body hair on the non-wolf fur parts. Like your classic wolf-man idea. How to paint that? How to give the impression of a hairy body, not fur, hair. It has these spike growths popping out of it's skin. I thought, that's great. It's like mutation. So the skin should be angry, raw, sore, around them. I had to figure out how I wanted to do that. I use all kinds of new efforts and techniques. Made the leather armor seem rough and his metal armor I decided to make look lacquered. I still pull it out sometimes just to look at it. To enjoy it. I did new things, things I would likely never do for a table top army. But this model had an entirely different purpose and I could just go for it.
I cannot wait to see the finished piece. You inspire me to always push myself with my paint jobs.
Thanks Jon, enjoyed this video and your chat through the process and your thoughts. Have a great Christmas and I hope 2024 is awesome for you.👍😉🎄🎄🎄☃️🧑🎄
Awesome as always! You're my favourite miniature channel, and the only channel that I make a point to watch every video. I'm excited to see more of the journey of your Golden Demon entry!
Amazing work!
Can't wait to see whole diorama finished!
As always great upload, man. Can't wait to see the final product at Adepticon!
I struggle with the smaller sable brushes, can’t seem to find a mix where the paint (Vallejo / DR) isn’t drying within seconds of loading it up from my wet pallet, despite thinning with either water or thinner even. Yet here Jon commands his brush effortlessly!
What is this dark sorcery!?
Awesome job! I will never paint at that level, I prefer to do a really good job on lots of crafting things rather than an excellent job on one - I will never have the patience to spend that much time on it. So it's really fun seeing others do it - I can enjoy from the back seat.
The continuation of my favorite series!
You got this!!!
really liked the tips on how to paint wood. I've been struggling to find a favorite recipe for that. Thanks, and I look forward to the next part in this series!
It looks really good man! Makes me want to get back into competitions again :D!
I like your analytical ramblings. It helps me form my thoughts. Like some kind of mindmagic for minipainting.
I was going to watch anyway without the click bait title. It's like "don't try this at home" and then "you should totally try painting for a competition." LOL, I get it.
Awesome work though. Knowing how many hours going into your work is actually a big help for the rest of us who ask ourselves what makes this look so good (while ours may come off looking flat or whatever).
Thanks for this.
Nice one. From the UK.
The model you've completed looks awesome. I would be interested in an ongoing series of videos as you progress with the whole piece. Saw the changes you made when you talked about the in the podcast, really fun to follow along
Great work, thanks for showing us the work and how you are doing it. And best of luck for the competition
I REALLY ENJOY YOUR DESCRIPTIVE COMMENTARY. GREAT VIDEO!
I see you use a 000 brush for the tiny details. I recommend you check out trying a size 2 miniature it's a similar tip size to a 00 or 000 but a much fuller body so it holds much more paint. It's the brush I use about equally as the size 1, they both have their place but it's seriously worth a try I think.
I really like this video. You are doing great work.
Merry Christmas Jon and Darryl. Thanks for this years tips and entertainment. From the UK 🇬🇧
So..watching GD Head and wood painting! The perfect reason to go on a bender! Thanks for the tip!! Fabulous Add!! ❤
YIKES. If I tried taking that long one one tiny detail like that? I'd lose my blessed mind. Golden Demon is not for me, it would appear. But this is off to a great start nonetheless, and all the best to you in this endeavor, Jon!
Have a great Xmas and New Year Jon
Wonderful Painting-Video.
Merry Christmas to you and your family
My wife got me one of your shirts for Christmas. I love it. They are super nice and soft.
My boys watch your content like I used to watch Bob Ross. Love your stuff, they do too.
15:50 That's a good boy!
Really hope you will revisit the Alaana model at some point and do a video about it. It just happens to be a model I'll be working on next, even already primed it. Such a beautiful bust. We, your viewers would get to participate in VincyCon too this way! 🙂
Thank you for this video Jon! I get so sick of all the speed painting videos out there and am glad to see something that focuses on display or competition painting. Awesome video as always.
Thank you Ninjon for being one of my top inspirations! Wishing you and your family a healthy and happy holiday season, and also the best of luck with the Golden Demon contest! That mini looks amazing! THANK YOU!!!!!
I got back into mini painting because my brother talked me into entering a competition! I painted my balls off for about 3 months. Didn't win, didn't even place, but it was great fun and now I paint all the things!
Ninjon golden demon video series are the best! Love your clean work. Can’t wait to see more. Inspiration for sure.
Great work as always! I enjoy your videos, they are entertaining and informative! I'll be routing for you to win this year!
Oh yes. I really like this GD series!
I've gotta chuckle a little bit seeing wooden dowels as painting handles. I've got like a dozen split between the size you're using in this vid and a 1.5" dowel. The smaller ones let me spray the bottoms of my minis regardless of using a rattle can or an air brush
Can't wait to see the progress!
I just wish i could find a group to paint with like this.
Love tje shoulderpad looks so clean ,i wish paint like this someday
Seeing competition level videos are such a nice change of perspective from display or tabletop level painting stuff
I want to echo your thoughts on entering contests.
Not only will trying your best improve your skills, but just having that deadline looming gives you more motivation to finish projects. Also, at some point that stress turns into fun.
You get 'in the zone' and just start slinging paint and the time just disappears.
Im so frickin excited to see the final product
Thumbnail: DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME
Jon in the Video: I encourage everyone to try this at home.
@Ninjon Just a heads up I was just watching your video The ULTIMATE Mini Painting Setup and when you were showing the airbrush station the light was smoking. Your still with us a year later so I guess it start a fire. Just thought I'd give ya a heads up and thanks for the excellent videos full of tips.
Beautiful! Would love to see how you did the armour
That looks great!
since you wear glasses I would recommend you get with your optometrist and look at getting a set of glasses with a focal point of 18" or what ever the standard distance is you hold the model from your eyes. I did this and found that i could get rid of the mangnifiers for the majority of my work.
I NEVER thought of this. What an excellent tip!
Huh never thought of this. Thanks for this tip!
Bring home the gold!
Thanks Jon, great video - really looking forward to seeing the piece as it evolves and excited to see how it're received at GD. Good luck!!!
“The gradual transitions from one color to another is gradual” wise words of wisdom! 6:39
love this project!
Jon, I love your videos! perfect blend of entertainment, and education. You're the friend that we all wish we had!
Nice work! I’m going to be getting back into painting. Love your stuff keep it up.
I like these types of videos a lot.
It reminds me of Torchlight style and I'm totally love it 👍
Hey Johnathon
thank You
loved the video ! your piece is gonna be great !
Merry Christmas
Is it too early to wish you good luck at the Golden Demons in 2024? Good luck anyway, watching carefully to see what the final piece looks like. Merry Christmas Jon.
Your work is just so freaking good, I really love your style and the down to earth story that goes with it. I don’t care if your piece will be the award winner, I’m a fan! 😊
A few years back I emailed Proacryl about how solvent safe their bottles were, aka they are! Including the caps, a much cheaper option than those enzyme drinks.
Great job brother 👍 merry Christmas
Beautiful job as always. You can see time and effort in your work! Simply beautiful. Hope you and your family have a good Christmas Jon \m/
Thanks, Jon! I've been trying to decide whether to paint for Golden Demon or not, and this was a great encouragement to enter! (A different category, haha, don't worry that you are creating more competition for yourself with your videos!)
Jesus this is lush. love the depth that is in this.
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
Jon what colours did you use to make that AMAZING deep brownish yellow cloth coat???? That shade is exactly what I am looking for in a goblin army …..
Looks great! Congrats on starting early. 😉
I enjoy watching your videos and subbed right after the first one I watched. Unfortunately no longer able to partake in the hobby or support you in other ways. But you will get a view and thumbs up every opportunity I get!
Great vid Jon
Jon, thank you for normalizing the GRIND it takes to do GD. I'm painting 4 models myself, and it's wild how much time we put into this.
That's AMAZING!!!! Fantastic paint job!!!!
Could I trouble you for the recipe for the brown of the shin guards?
