i''m so gonna buy this when the G5 comes out hehe.
this guy gets it 😁
I just did that with the C3
But the G5 has MLA booster ++ and has a QD panel.
Amen brother
Yeah I'll be doing the same.
New G4 77" coming in tomorrow upgraded from an 55" C1 🤟
Update here once you get it 🙏 was thinking of making the same upgrade
Congratulations, you made the right ✅️ decision 👏 👍 hope you will enjoy it for many years to come, absolutely the best tv with the highest contrast level on any tv with new processes and higher brightness 🌞 lg 😅all the way,
@@robertdawood9920 hope it will be worth the upgrade and that it will not be to big from 9 feet haha.
Congrats! Enjoy it! Its too expensive for me unfortunately.. otherwise i would have known
I have an 83" C1. It's still fantastic. I won't upgrade for another three years.
I did upgrade my Samsung 75" MU8000 upstairs with a Samsung NEO QLED 75" 95NQ. It's night and day.
The LG OLED is still better, and it's three years older.
17:15 "If there is way to give an extra Gold Star.." - funny, that's exactly LG's old company name - GoldStar ;)

Finally i have been waiting for this great review 👏
Thanks for the review Caleb! The G4 does sound pretty special. Will you be getting the 97" version coming out soon to compare to the older 97" G2? I understand the 97" version doesn't have MLA tech so curious to see how the A11 processing goodness can make up for that at that size.
Another great review! Love the channel.
I love the magic remote. Only thing I’d really change is having backlit buttons. That it definitely needs
It could also do with being in brushed steel just to make it look and feel more premium.
Excellent review this go round and also I'm loving the fun energy of these reviews lately. This might be the first time I go for the full fat OLED and the G4 is on my list. I really want to watch the peak OLEDS go against the peak Mini-LEDs. Can you make a head to head series for this new gen?
We need a head to head with the A95L!
Great video Caleb! Can the G4 be mounted with any TV bracket? I ask this since the 65” version doesn’t include LG’s slim wall mount.
3:48 You can turn on automatic updates in the LG App Store settings. That way, they update while you aren't using them and won't bother you every time you start up an app.
That's way too risky for people like myself who has unstable power or who's have limited power. (Between 10am to 3pm, my room power is turned off)
@@AntonioCunninghamthen don't do it LoL
@@AntonioCunningham It only does it while the TV is turned on. For instance, while you're using Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime might update :)
@@Tomiply I don't want to take that risk. I've had devices brick because auto updates so I'm not taking that chance. Especially on an expensive TV
@@AntonioCunningham buy a UPS.
What LG I’ve done with G4 is not to increase the brightness but improve the quality overall by making subtle improvements that is visible. Just by increasing brightness doesn’t make the TV better but how it handles near dark areas & shadow details. Also better posterisation mitigation which is common in streaming and sat TVs.
Outstanding review from the master. Thankyou Caleb. And thanks for explaining hdr. On mine its just too dark. Gee this tv will be mine one day..but your innovation comment made me hold on for maybe one or two years. Hell..imagine the G8??
Just got the 83" installed yesterday! It is amazing. Upgraded from a 77" CX and it was a big difference in brightness and picture quality.
you say it. true more brightness. i have the lg g3. but the glossy screen with the cx the colors looks deeper. not worth to upgrade from my lg g3 to the g4! only 100 nits brighter in hdr with dynamic tonemapping. i wait till the lg g5!
@@jantjedewaal we always justify the mistakes we make!
Isnt the 83 a different panel? 😅
@@EDIIIZ not on the g4. G3 it was, sort of - G3 was lacking MLA in 83", G4 isn't
@@jackalclone1 oh thanks!
Man, i love Caleb's work. the writing, the passion, the homework you can tell he does prior, it's honestly why i keep watching these tv reviews even though i've already purchased a new tv. And now, i'm thinking twice about my choice. anyone want to buy a new a80L? haha. nothing wrong with it, I just want to try this G4.
Hi, i have g1, its worth upgrade? :)
Thx 4 the help
The picture looks amazing!! If I were in the market for a new TV, this would be at the top of my list. What a great review!
not worth to upgrade if you have the lg g3. fair review is at avsforums!
Hi Caleb, perfect review as always...I currently have a Panasonic TX-P50G30E plasma TV at home and I don't really understand the "climbing for the highest numbers" regarding brightness and such. I found that my TV has a maximum full screen brightness of 87cd/m2 and I think that's enough for me. It is true that I have to close the curtains on the window opposite the TV, but I have a bright room and I can see everything and the picture is nice (not perfect, but nice). The TV is currently "ripe for retirement" and I'm thinking about buying a new one. Everyone scared me that OLED has poor brightness, but I don't think so. What are you think about it? Sorry for my English. Thank you very much.
Hi Caleb, would you still recommend professional calibration for this TV to get the best quality possible or is it so accurate now that there is no need?
G4 low profile looks really good
Hi Caleb, what would you expect from non-MLA 97” model? Seems like a11 chip would help it tremendously to keep the brightness still quite high. Would “regular” G4 panel still be a bit brighter than G3?
Hi Caleb, thanks for another great review, (I am a LG G3 owner), the question I do have is around the 5-year G4 warranty, is this is a global warranty, or just available in North America. Thanks, Colin, Melbourne Australia.
Hey from Sweden, Love Your content 🙂 I have a 77” G3 and going to buy a new tv in a few days, should I buy a 85” Bravia 9, 77” A95l or a 83” G4? Wich would you pick?
Hi Caleb, do you base the revolutionary difference with G3 on the version you tested a year ago or with the many updates it got since?
best review channel - tks !
Caleb can you tell me what HDMI cables did you use ? thanks . Can't wait for Amazon Prime Day
Sick TV. Great review, thanks.
Does this mean that you no longer need to adjust between Cinema and Cinema Home (bright or accurate) like you need to on the G3? Rather the G4 will automatically adjust if it should be in accurate mode or brighter depending on your viewing environment?
Any plans on doing the C4 review? I just grabbed one last week and 144 is amazing with this tv! I do plan on grabbing a G series down the road
What about reflection handling? Is it good?
Is there any TV that changes modes based on an ambient light sensor? My TV is in a bright room… but half my viewing is at night time. I’d really like it to automagically set brightness levels by need.
Really looking forward to the head to head with the A95L. I was leaning that way but now I’m not sure. I have a bright living room and that may lean towards the G4. Maybe even the Bravia 9… Just tell me what to buy, Caleb! 😂 I’m upgrading from an LG C1 so I think I’ll see some big improvements. Thanks for being awesome!
Will it definitely have an edge over the G3? I'm in Korea and waiting for the 77M4 with the M4 coming out next month. Or I wonder if the cheaper 77M3 would be a good option
It truly does look incredible
Really appreciate your videos, always informative and entertaining. I brought and returned the G4 for one main reason. I was looking for a bright OLED for my bright living room. I found the picture settings useful to achieve just the right brightness and picture pop. Having owed several Samsungs, I appreciate a bright and colorful picture. The one and main issue was DolbyVision, which always seemed to be dimmer than what I wanted. Additionally, the picture settings you mentioned in HDR mode are not available when the video is encoded with DolbyVision and there was no way to disable DolbyVision. I’m wondering if you had the same experience or did I miss something in the settings menu?
You can grab a streaming box and then throttle the box in the settimgs to only recognize up to HDR10. On my G2 83" this boosted brightness and shadow detail in normally dim DV content since it forces DV to HDR10. Streamer I use is Roku Ultra.
Awesome, probably my next tv.
that was a great review Caleb, I love the really thin bezel all around. one more thing Caleb, I can't quite make out that album behind you. thanks again Caleb 👍
Jimmy Smith, The Sermon
@@Caleb_Denison thanks Caleb
Great review, as always. I bought my G4 a week ago, and it's been amazing, however, I and a couple of dozen other owners on avs forums have encountered a problem when switching from the inbuilt streaming apps (seems to only happen after watching for more than 10 mins) back to hdmi 2. The screen goes grainy with lines through it, and only unplugging the TV seems to fix it. Have you guys encountered this issue? I'm still waiting to hear back from lg for a solution. Thanks, and sorry for tagging on a reply. @Caleb_Denison
Can you give prices ( at the time of filming) and sizes available in your videos?
Hey Caleb no opinion on the silver bezel?
would you please link some good youtube videos to assess the image quality of the tv. thank you
I have a Bose 700 soundbar and 700 sub. Have a G4 55inch on order, any potential issues to be concerned about with Bose and LG connections? Cheers.
For Magic remote I stay with LG for years ! Can not imagine remote without this cursor
I bought an LG TV just for the Magic remote but the OS sucks......... I bought an Apple TV and that remote rocks. Suck it LG
@@crashn2me105 what do you think sucks about the WebOS?
Agreed
I hate it lol
The "Magic Remote" is either a love it or hate it type of thing. It drives me crazy, but I know some folks like you who LOVE it.
I still have a 65in LG C9.
Should i wait for the G5 or get the G4 in December?
Caleb, can you provide the brand and model number of that stand? I like that the post extends from the middle of the base and need it for my setup.
Visiting Best Buy today and I really hope this will be on display with the A95L. It’s such a tough choice 😩
I have a G3. This worth the upgrade?
Great review!
I didn't see it mentioned in the video: how well does this TV handle color banding? Both rtings and HDTVTest noted banding in their stress tests, with rtings using patterns and Vincent using a scene from the Martian where it looked pretty obvious. I give less credence to the patterns for all the reasons you mention in your review. Since banding is one of the only video artifacts that truly annoys me, I'm curious if it's noticeable in most real life usage, especially in game mode since it seems to show up more often in video games and my usage is probably 50/50 for games vs film/tv. It's essentially the determining factor for buying this model or a Sony TV
Hi Caleb, when you say the processor makes the decision for brightness that rendered the brightness test useless, do you mean that we can't expect consistent output from the TV? I ask this because with its great performance, it'd be a shame if it can't be used for content creation due to the self decision making, pls let me know if it can be turned off, thank you.
Gotta love the audio of that last segment -- I thought there was a fly in my room. I paused your video. Buzzing stopped. The fly was in YOUR room! :-)
lolol
Currently, have the 55 LGCX hands down the best TV i have ever owned when its time to get a new tv ill be getting another LG for sure . Glad to see the G4 is a power house
What do you think about the Sound compared to the a80l?
If I already have the LG G1 evo from 2021 is this tv enough of an upgrade?
Since you mentioned the speakers seem to be lacking, what is the best audio system you would pair this tv with?
How does it do in Ultra-Bright rooms?
(sun glare almost unbearable w 83’ C2 so considering BIG upgrade)
Are those Goldenear speakers? How are they?
Caleb, Have you had the HDMI 2 video issue on this set? There are comments on other sites regarding this where the image distorts when switching inputs.
How's the reflection? I would have gotten the G3 if not for the mirror like screen reflection.
@Caleb_Denison what equipment do you use for your measurements and which version of Calman? Thanks!
I love TV reviews on this channel but I wish gaming would be at least mentioned in some capacity given that these TVs are so expensive and a lot of people (including me) would like to hear something about it. Anyways other than that I think reviews are really great.
Any info on the M4 release date?! Please do a review on this model as well!!!!
i was just preparing to buy the a95L lmao....
I was going to get a Sony due to the "Reality Creation" sharpening feature for older 3D video games. Does LG's upscaling have just as good results?
How would the 97” G4 (given it doesn’t have MLA) compare to the 97” G2?
Would the biggest difference between the two be the processing, and how much of an impact would that have without MLA?
How come he used DE 2000 for HDR measurements? Isn’t the best practice to use the ITP formula for HDR?
I love the video and it says stand is possible but I can’t find it for the G4 83in TV. Any ideas??
Dave
Can't wait for your comparison with the LG Z3, which purportedly also got MLA & a new processor.
Is there a "defeat" feature on this LG if you want to use your own speaker set-up?
What about compare to Samsung QN900d the 8k ? I have an oh c1 and watch it in a dark room ? I like my dark room should go with the Samsung 8k qn900d ? Or LG g4 evo ? I thought of the Sony Bravia any expert on tv experience please drop a a comment best tv for dark room , I don’t like it to bright because it hurts my eyes though
I need help with upgrading to the G4. I have a 65 inch LG G1 and I want to upgrade to the G4. How can I sell it? or are there companies that allows me to upgrade?
I want to see Bravia 9 review/comparison. One of those two sets I'm getting this year coming from LG E9 oled
Same here. Patiently waiting for the Bravia 9 to come out to see the comparisons...
the Bravia 9 will not touch an OLED screen. So go ahead and buy the LG.
No point comparing it to a mini led. Oled wins every time.
@@bustercolin7507 in terms of 3D look I'm sure G4 will win. But E9 doesn't have this 3d effect and bravia 9 might be good enough when it comes to black levels, blooming control whilst providing bigger more immersive panel and higher brightness/APL (it would be 77" g4 vs 85" bravia as they are similar in cost).
@@gosman949 Oled cannot properly display 4k nit content because its not bright enough so it clip highlights and you lose details, the bravia 9 will have better details and color in hdr highlights.
Hi I’m thinking about LG C3 or Samsung Qn90D neo qled? Which one is better. I love Samsung products but everyone goes on about how good LG tv’s are.
Great review! I am an owner of an 83" OLED G4 and S95TR matching Sound Bar - overall very happy, however is anyone experiencing weird sound issues when connected wirelessly via "WOW Orchestra" where you here the sound cut out for a millisecond randomly over time? Like it appears to the ear as a "cut out / popping" sound - it's driving me insane! Please escalate with LG if you think you might be able to help get this issue to their attention!
I was going to get a 77” this year. I was planing on Sony a95l because i didn’t like the colors on my 65” b9
Would the g4 be a better buy than a95l? Money isn’t a worry
Caleb do you think the G4s audio would work ok as a center channel speaker?
no
I am tempted to upgrade to the 77” G4 from my 2016 65" C6! Thanks for this awesome review!
You will defo notice a difference....I upgraded from the c6 to c2 and was a huge difference in brightness....don't think iv noticed the abl at all that plagued the c6! Can only imagine what a leap the g4 will be!
@@gosling349 i’m not even sure the 2016 series had ABL… I don’t see it on the tech specs on LGs website haha
When are y’all going to start putting out HDR mastered content
Every LG OLED tv have a 5 year warranty. Atleast where i live.
Had some dead pixels developing on my LG C9 i bought in 2020 and they replaced the panel recently at my home for free. Stellar service!
Not every!! My C7 did not. Only newer g series!
Also … unclear, is this the same "5-year limited warranty" on the panel they've offered on G-series, and they now specify _long term image retention_ coverage, or is this a new, expanded "bumper-to-bumper" 5-year warranty?
Well thats dissappointing as hell if they removed the 5 year warranty of the C series OLED
@@DainHunter what five year warranty?
@@ChromeJob When i bought my C9 in 2020 i got a free 5 year panel warranty.
LG no longer offer this warranty on the C lineup sadly. The warranty now only cover G and Z series of OLEDs
Finally I can upgrade from my LG C8 OLED. Been waiting for LG to have the top TV. I wanted the Sony A95L but wife won't accept anything without a magic remote.
😂 "wife wants magic 🪄 remote"
Good one ✅
Terrible excuse lol
Same position tbone! My girlfriend loves the magic remote and webos in LG OLEDs. We also have an a80j in the house and she hates it because of the interface and lack of a magic remote.
Sony is best.
The A95L is superior to the the G4. Especially because of the QD-OLED in the A95L and the even better picture processing. While HGIG support is something that Sony lacks compared to LG.
Can you review the Tandem OLED design of the new iPad Pro?
I have a LG OLED55C6P curved tv from 2016. It has what I would consider quite significant burn in. It’s been great though but I’m going to upgrade to the G4 this week. Looking forward as I assume I’ll be blown away all over again.
Is there a stand available for the 77" G4? I do not want to wall mount the TV.
One thing worth mentioning. As opposed to the G3 it now seems to come (maybe it‘s depending on specific version or market so take that with a grain of salt) with a pedestal stand included 🥳
I must say my "old" LG C1 65' still wows me with everything I watch/play. It's just tremendously OLED :D That said, I now know what I'm saving My Money for. I've never heard or seen such a glowing review from Caleb in my life and I see no reason why he would lie. If this TV will really make everything I watch and play AGAIN look better/best than I could have ever imagined already coming from an OLED, I need haz. Period.
Thanks to Caleb and the DTeam!! I sincerely appreciate all you do to keep consumers well informed. Likes, subs and other clicky internet stuff all around!! Cheers!!
Same boat. I have a C1 that looks fantastic and I’m curious how much of a difference there would really be. Do I need…even more fantastic?
I love my G3, I couldn't wait any longer. The G4 looks awesome though.
Right? It feels like you can never win with tech. My G3 isn’t even a year old yet and I see this. I don’t regret, it’s still a fantastic TV.
@@cmdnoob Differences between them are almost nothing. Enjoy the G3, look at upgrading after some years go by to a G10 with QDEL.
I wall mounted a 55" G4 for a gaming monitor with a 4090. I sit about 5 or 6 feet away, and it's glorious.
Excellent review! You've got me saving my pennies, nickles, and quarters now! You HAD ME at ALMOST AS GOOD AS A REFERENCE MONITOR!
I’ve got a C2 78”. I’ll update when the G5 77” comes out next year
I got LG A3 this year and I'm so happy; one day, I wish to get the G series.
Does the blacks still look grey with ambient light in the room?
It’s honestly my biggest turn off with the MLA G3.
My store is still selling 2023 Oled G3.. any feedbacks ?
Hope to buy 55G4 at year end
At 65in G4, A95L or save some money and go for the S90C?
What is screen uniformity like?
When you say missing an ATSC 3.0 tuner, is that even a bad thing? I was under the impression that 3.0 is so bungled that it's sometimes worse (audio out of sync, etc) and it also has the weird internet component that enables OTA providers to spy on you.
Waiting for the C4 Review
I have G4 83 (turned in G3) and man let me say… this tv rocks. All colors, brightness, smooth gradation etc. and I run PS5 with God of War Ragnarock and have all SONOS (2 subs, 2 back speakers, and 1 SONOS Arc) so my set up is done. Totally worth it. Just mad my studs on the wall couldn’t fit the flush mount in the house. That’s ok.
your tv cost more than your apartment. Save you money on TVs and buy a house!!
@gosman949 you sound like a real estate agent.
The picture does look great. My two questions are how does it look with regular SDR from cable or CZcams Tv? And does this extra brightness help in really dark scenes? Even OLEDs have issues with this in real world scenarios.
if you're considering this TV for watching SDR from cable or yt TV, don't buy it. Buy a Sony X80L or X90L, will be better value for money for your requirement.
What are you smoking,
LG is king in upscaling and smoothing sdr content @@Sas-wk9lj
@@Sas-wk9lj Thanks, I do watch a lot of 4k movies but since the tv will be used in the family room, SDR content is watched pretty often too. I have a dedicated home theater room for my personal enjoyment but family movies should look good too. I do appreciate and agree with your suggestions though I might just go with the 85 inch Bravia 7 or 9. Sony’s upscaling is the best in my opinion but I was hoping to stay with OLED that might be a bit brighter than my current A80J.
This TV looks freaking amazing 🤩
