I really like that you didn’t fill in the burls and “imperfections” with epoxy. The gaps in the wood really added nice character to the finished piece.
If it were clear epoxy, that could be cool. Right now, I'm not exactly sure what he was trying to make, but with the epoxy, or resin, he could have a more complete appearance to the art.
I agree! The "imperfections" are where the pieces character lies ❤
Yew is such a gorgeous wood, the grain is just amazing and I really love that you left it natural. Beautiful work Andy
I lived off-grid on the sea for 13 years, had own anchorage & a small rustic float camp 6 miles from Tofino BC. Yew wood around there was harvested for the coldest times since it burned like coal. Heard rumor of a registry for yew but never researched the largest specimen found. Found one more that 3 foot diameter & I harvested almost a dozen large (dead) branches the size of a man`s waist but left the massive live trunk & a couple live branches.
I already know this will be amazing before I even watch. ❤ My dad was a master carpenter and he was always working on something and sometimes it’s nice to hear the same noise again.
I totally get that feeling! There's something so comforting and nostalgic about those familiar sounds. It's like being transported back to those moments of watching a skilled craftsman at work
Bro I can fall asleep to this. It’s like asmr
My dad worked on a fishing boat. He was a master baiter.
My dad was a master master carpenter.
That wood never disappoints, and neither do you! Another gorgeous piece, Andy!
Thank you!
Always was my favourite subject in school learning how to use a lathe. Wish somebody had told me i could have made a career out of it. I will just have to live vicariously through you. 😊
Isn't it amazing how those skills stick with you? It's never too late to pick it up as a hobby again
I qualified as an Automobile Engineer from the Austin in the 60's . Got my degree and suddenly asked myself, what are you doing? Started wood turning and absolutely loved it! It's never too late either!
In india there is lack of this type of activities. We just doing studies (books) and written exams in school.😢
Yew don’t disappoint Andy ,stunning vase ,beautiful colours in the yew wood well done🎉❤
As someone who has only the vaguest idea of the work involved in woodturning, I gotta say I really appreciate when you properly hollow out a vase. 🖐😩👌
Yew did a great job on this one, I'm digging the way out turned out.
I knew when I saw the title this will be good. Yew is probably the best turning wood there is. It has lots of appealing character.
9:46 - even wood can smile :D
Man the more I see you turn Yew, it just makes me want to get some. One day.😄
Beautiful work Andy, that Yew has a very happy face 😃
The colors and grain structure of the Yew wood is simply beautiful, and you bring out its best! I so enjoy the piece I purchased from you months ago. Everyone that sees it comments on how beautiful it is! Love watching you create these works of wooden art!
Thanks so much Dean 👍
Beautiful. You took a chunk of wood & within minutes create a vessel with a lovely voluptuous shape. My new favourite! 👏🏻👏🏻

I gotta admit, you did such phenomenal work on make that fine woodnote vase. I love it!
I love the way it looks as if the wood keeps reversing! Beautiful as always!
The wood never disappoints, and neither do you . Great job 👏
The most satisfying process to watch is creating something beautiful from a generous heart ❤️
Andy, this is another great piece of art. You are such a skilled craftsman and I love watching your work. Thank you for sharing.
I'm always delighted to see new videos on your channel. I'm not a woodworker, but I like watching. - Todd in Rochester, New York.
Thank you very much!
A truly wonderful piece, it may look eerie but also charming so congratulations
I never realized that Yew wood was so pretty. Great job Andy, it's beautiful.
Thank you very much!
Forget the wood, Yew never disappoint! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Nice work! I have some 4" juniper pieces. Never thought about tuning them that way! Thanks for the inspiration!
That moment when the oil goes on, wow beautiful 😊
Always enjoy seeing your insanely gorgeous works!! Beautifully done, sir!!
Stunning. Absolutely stunning! I'm not one for ornaments, but I'd give anything of yours pride of place.
Thank you!
Great form. Camera view as you were working the inside was nice. The voids in the side makes unyewsual. Enjoyable as always.
Beautiful tree, gorgeous wood, an extremely skilful hand and very creative eye = a wonderful vase! 😍
Thank you very much!
I'm really liking the 3-wheel stabilizer jig you made for yourself! Reminds me of my BIL.
This is beautiful. You've exposed the beauty in the wood as it is. Just focused on the wood itself. Marvelous!
Absolutely gorgeous and I love the colours and markings in the wood.❤❤😊
The oil really enhances the color of yew. Hopefully I can get some to turn one day.
Wonderful job, Andy! Keep it up!
Beautiful, love the wood grain.
The shape allowed for good interior camera angles and the lighting was just right. When you do narrow mouth vessels, I always marvel at how you know just how far you can go without cutting right through the piece.
I love that rollerblade wheel jig. that would make me feel so much more comfortable turning big pieces.
Beautiful wood getting it's due homage. I love it. For me this is what you are all about: turning the unpromising into wonder.
That piece turned out amazing!
That is absolutely stunning.
Yew never disappoints is right. Beautiful piece.
Gorgeous, I would love this piece.
Beautiful wood and a lovely result!!
Wow! Andy this piece is simply amazing a great job! I liked the gouge cam angle a great deal, hardly any shake to the picture and was a smashing perspective. Youve instilled some ideas as all we woodturners can do is look at a lump of wood and think which way it will go. Your easy steady is also a great , been thinking about one myself. Thanks for your video! Cheers
good morning Andy, another beautiful, unique piece, like the wood, you never disappoint either, thanks for sharing
Absolutely beautiful! ❤ I love your work.
Always enjoy seeing what you bring out of the wood.
Stunning piece, Andy! Really fantastic work! 😃
Beautiful wood indeed!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you,
There's just something about this one that's so nice. Maybe it's the little holes in the side, idk. But, I love it.
love your work
Thank you so much
Joy to watch the video, thank you, Canada
Thank you
Vielen Dank! Wieder einmal wunderschön!
Its something else mate👍. Marvellous .
I'm sure I've watched a video or two of yours before but I don't remember that roller skate jig, that's clever.
I love that you took the bark off and kept three holes. So much character in the piece. One question, where did the red wood shown at the beginning go?
Great piece…even has a smiley face on the side when you look upside down at it 😀
Wunderschön, Andy - ist echt ein schönes Stück geworden. Top Job und beste Grüße aus Rheinhessen - Mike (alias Payman)
Beautiful work. I love the hollowing shots.

Really nice, Andy. That wood definitely didn't disappoint.
Bill
Thanks 👍
If I were a homeowner I would definitely have a shop and in that shop there would be a lathe. Also a bunch of other woodworking tools as I love to carve. You inspire me my friend.
Thanks 👍
All my rolling pins (French style) are made of yew, and they are a joy to use.
Your shop is so clean 😮
Nice vase. The three holes on it when turned upside down look like face. Good job. Keep it up.
Breathtakingly beautiful, Andy! 👍 Were it mine, I'd display it on a slowly rotating turntable so every aspect could be enjoyed fully.
Many thanks!
You know this is going to be a great video when you start with a chainsaw and the machine gets the death wobbles!!! Even the smiley face at 9.45 approves of your artwork Andy!!! Love your work as always.
