It took several months for Paul to get the okay to remove that boat. If those in charge were so worried about the condition of the mussels, why didn't they go LOOK and inspect the boat before giving Paul the okay? Glad FabRats was filming when the officer walked in and started talking. He was bold and brash....Paul was polite and respectful.

Not everyone is suited for every job. When he first demonstrated problems, he should have been moved to a position more suited to his talents and personality. To even suggest he should have what he is entitled to is as bad as his actions. Ask for him to be removed is legitimate, to seek retribution is vindictive.
Ask Paul, I suspect he agrees with me. And HE was the person who was treated improperly.

It is fun to see wars between the counties and the state. Back in the summer of 1969, as a summer job between college studies, I threw garbage for Salt Lake County. One day, as we were headed toward the dump, we ran into a road block were the State Highway Patrol was doing spot inspections of the county trucks. As this was before cell phones, it took a while for the news to reach the county offices. When it did, the county was highly upset. Not sure if it was a commissioner who called or not, but essentially the state was told to stop the BS immediately. The state was informed that the county had Mounties too, and there were plenty of state vehicles that could be ticketed, if they wanted to pursue their nonsense. Strange as it may appear, the road blocks vanished. Imagine that!

Quagga/Zebra mussels primarily move from one place to another through human-related activities. They attach to hard surfaces and can survive out of water for up to a week. The microscopic larvae also can be transported in bilges, ballast water, live wells or other equipment that holds water.

Wow. This entire ordeal which includes the then and now actions of one or more officers has really stirred up a mess. Utah is a pretty state and I'm sure anyone who watches your channel and the fab rats know your all good law abiding people. There's a lot of good officers that are not so ego driven out there but I have to say, times are a changing. Let's hope what you and many others are doing in Utah, shines a light on what's broken in your states governmental depts and just maybe other neighboring states governmental depts will take notice and maybe dig into any bad apples of there own. Thanks for sharing

The only thing living on that boat when Paul and his group recovered it, was some mice. Remember when Paul went out just to try and locate it and it was high and dry, then he said it took a couple of months to get the approvals to actually recover it. It was still high and dry when they went back and got it out. I know the water level did not come up and go back down in that time frame. lol

Could the state or county provide an area to wash boats when they come out of the water if they are so concerned about quaga muscles? That would be the obvious solution to me to prevent the spread of quaga muscles. Sound like a money collection scheme to set up a check point. As you said, not good public relations at all.
