James is such a treasure. This channel would not be the same without him.
He must be protected at all costs.
I doubt it'd exist at all.
He speaks more than in the beginning and I love it fufu
It wouldn't be much different....except Wade would be walking a lot more rather than driving đ
It would definitely be more boring.
I hope James knows how much everyone appreciates him.

Underrated bit- cool to see how the rats actually set up places to live within the abandoned car, especially the bones in the nests. A rat must've taken them inside from some dead animal they found so they could use the bone to wear down their teeth at home.
In case your wondering why there are random nibbles here and there, rat incisors grow constantly and need to be worn down or they grow through their mouth
Nice info, I didn't know that.
That explains a lot honestly hahaha, a lot of my stuff is chewed by rats.

The music choice for these videos is fantastic. Weird old wind band march in the background of funny car videos is such an ejoyable thing.
I don't even watch car stuff but this is great, I love this show!
James is quite good at this, almost like he is a professional
3:05 **Cashies theme intensifies**
For James, it's probably better for conductivity to mechanically connect the wires, then solder them on. A good method is to push one wire into another, then twisted them together to lock them before solder. The side to side connection = potential fire when the wire goes hot because the solder doesn't conduct as good as copper does. Early MCM has two vids about it.
You're right, but tbf the wires are likely plenty big enough for the current they're carrying. I'd be more worried about solder melting in a hot engine bay than electrical fires from warm joints, but this thing isn't a show car or a race car. It's probably fine, the wires are probably far enough from heat that it won't matter, and James is knowledgeable enough to have his own preferences anyway.
At least he didn't use crimp connectors!
Yeah side-to-side's not great at the best of times. Also better to use actual wiring loom fabric tape than plastic electrical tape, since it tends to get unhappy at high temperature.
Itâs a better practice yeah, but based off the gauge that looks like bigger wire than most US cars use so it shouldnât have as big of an effect
You're really picking hairs there đ€Ł

I just want to say; some of the best mechanics went to some kind of electrician school, a lot of my friends give up when their car has an electrical problem like this, but you guys seem to do pretty well, whatâs you guyâs experience with wiring and electrical work?
Additional note: do not wrap those wires like that, the rubbing of insulation will cause excessive wear when driving, ideally you would want a rig to keep them organized and secured individually(source: Iâm an electrician)
That's literally how it is done from the factory in pretty much all cars though... The wires can't rub if they're tight together, and since there's only 12V and low currents at play there's no risk of overheating.
I would be more worried about the hard solder joints breaking because of vibration, that's why most connections in a car loom are crimped, but that would make the repairs a lot bulkier and with the added stiffness of the heatshrink and tape those joints will probably last longer than the rest of the car.
Apperantly Jamesâ real job Is actually a master car mechanic and restorer
they met doing retro game stuff, and doing console mods or dealing with arcade hardware kinda necessitates being able to read/understand pin outs
â@@Candisa yeah, I was surprised he didn't do a little hook and tie, not something complicated like a lineman's splice but something to give the soldered connection a little mechanical relief
OEM wires are made from different material than standard stuff or the shit you get from repco, it's way more abrasion resistant and thinner for this exact reason.
This thing is gonna be awesome when its back together again. You've de-nuggified the nugget and made it good.

Hi James. Cross-wrap the copper ends together, and then solder the join. Mechanical connection as well as solder means the joins won't crack apart with the adjacent-to-engine-bay heat cycling and vibrations. Obv engine wiring should have w-crimp joins too with no solder.

A tip with the electrical tape wrapping in tight areas, wrap tape around a 7-8mm socket, essentially make a smaller roll of tape. and use that as your tape roll, so much more access that way and maneuverability. Great progress on the car so far!
Using electrical tape in the way James did is a bad idea unless using very specific tape. Otherwise it will just be a gooey mess from heat, dirt and chemicals. There are specific tapes designed for engine wiring and similar applications. Costs a bit more but it will hold up. I know itâs s free car but you are just asking for trouble here.

SOLDERED WIRES AREN'T STRONG ENOUGH TO SURVIVE THE VIBRATION HELL THAT IS A MOVING VEHICLE.
Love the work guys. Really enjoying the series. Car manufacturers will never solder wires together. they make the wire super brittle. Get a quality bare metal crimp and crimp tool. then heat shrink it. It will last much longer and is much faster. and you don't have to burn yourself.
