  • Hello all and welcome back to Empty Pockets Ironworks. I was given the idea this week to remake one of my old videos, Instead of just overdubbing I headed out this morning and made an entirely new video. There is no voice parts, and most of the video is at 10x speed to keep things short and hopefully interesting. I have made well over a hundred steel roses just in this last year alone and they never fail to improve each time. This is our $60.00 version and has proven to be our most popular in our area. I hope you truly enjoy this demonstration of our most popular project and will share and like the video.
    I want to thank everyone that commented on this last weeks video, the comments of encouragement after being a bit agitated with the recent trolling I received was very uplifting a and encouraging. I even received a our Facebook account images from an awesome artist that has replicated some of our designs and tools "HOW COOL IS THAT!"
    I will be doing some remakes of some of the older videos in the near future mainly because as I have grown there are things I have improved upon and feel the need to share.
    We just this ;ast week placed an order for a forging press!. It has a 2-3 week lead time but will greatly expand my capabilities with building stock for our store but allowing me to entertain making things I have not yet attempted such as legitimate axe's and swords! so stay tuned i will do a reveal and review of the tool when it arrives! maybe My first unboxing! if your into that.
    As always thank you all so very much for the comments, views, subs etc you guys are amazing and I absolutely love hearing from you all from around the world.
    Sincerely Chris

    I have been "binge" watching videos on how to make metal roses-(mine will be copper), and out of the dozens so far, yours is the only one made by a proper metalworker, so, I am going to copy(hope you don't mind) to produce a dozen roses for my wife for our next anniversary. Thank you for sharing your skill.

    Very nice job! I use a hand held sheet metal shear to cut my pedals out (hate grinding lol) and forge my leaves from round stock.. nice to see different techniques :) You are very talented! Thank you for sharing

      Thank you for the comments, I often do the leaves from round but this has been pretty popular in our store. Thanks again.

    Beautiful rose! Your petal pattern is slightly different from the one I've been using, and I like yours better, so thanks for sharing!

      @@wrotiron Just watched this again as a refresher; been a few years since I made a rose, but suddenly I have tons of customers who want them. Hope you and yours are well.

    Beautiful!!
    3 questions ...
    How long does it take you to make the rose?
    How are you heating it, forge or torch?
    How are you getting all the scale off and shining it up?

    • @wrotiron
      @wrotiron  Před 3 lety

      Thank you, and I use a forge. I can make one from start to finish in about 45 minutes and for scale after shaping I tap it on the plate surface and use a high carbon steel brush

    Do you put a makers mark on your roses and other small projects? How and where do you do it.

    • @wrotiron
      @wrotiron  Před 3 lety +1

      I always last them with the leaf up. So on the underneath side of the rose petal on the bottom I typically engrave EPI and the year very small. I plan on making a touch mark just haven't settled in a design yet.
