Right. Time for mature women emancipation. I’m 71 years old and I’m sick of being looked at as a poor, old lady with one foot in the grave. I never felt better in my life.

I stopped colouring my hair in 2020 because I was stick of chasing roots and feeling like I had to hide something. Now it’s silver and shiny and healthy and I can do more with it. It’s freeing. I don’t look older, I look better, and truthfully I don’t care if someone sees me from afar and and takes me for a lil ole lady. I can still kick their asses if necessary.

@@JackKincaid.. Also, if you have a young looking face and good skin, gray hair really doesn't make you look older. Hell, for a while, it was trendy for teens and young 20somethings to dye their hair gray (aka, granny hair). IT didn't make them look a day older. Sometimes it's actually dyeing your hair that makes you look older -- lots of people dye their hair harsh colors for their age/skin type, and it becomes very dried out and fragile as well, so it makes people look older.

Yet no one is taking women like Jane Goodall down for aging. Jane, in her 80s was just on the cover of Time. This obsession with aging just feels ridiculous and delusional in the context of real life. There is a lack of dignity in this industry and they hit the nail on the head about it.
Is it that Jane Goodall has gone through life promoting her brains.. SJP.. and I’m a fan.. has clearly enjoyed entertaining us via her beauty, clothes, figure. And a big part of her most famous work was using all of the above to find a man.

As a woman who just entered her 30s, I have never felt so strong and confident in my entire life, which is a feeling I'm told will get stronger with age. However this is in direct opposition to what the media tells us: that after 30 is over. It's not connected to reality at all. Looks will fade, but our identities and soul will remain, and stronger than ever. I'd say it's a fair trade off to live a good, healthy, full life. And yet this sick society makes us feel guilty about aging. That's missing the point entirely! I want the right to grow old and proud!! This is why these series focusing on women in their 50s is like a breath of fresh air! Makes me remember that life, is actually freaking long if you get to live up until your 80s and even 90s. If life is over after your 30s, that means 5+ decades of your life doing what! Feeling like what! SCREW THAT. Live now! Live at your maximum. Feel the feels, wear whatever the hell you want! That is the future I WANT FOR MYSELF and for badass women I aspire to be like!!!!

I don't think it's just aging it has to do with the unspoken expectation women look "sexy" even when young. It's why Rose McGowan shaved her head because in Hollywood if you don't have long hair and your makeup on men might not want you she said but after what happened she doesn't care if she is "sexy" to every man anymore.
As an ex-model who was “too fat” at 126 pounds 5’8” and moved to a promotional model, I hear and second that emotion!!

I loved Sean Connery since he was 007 and one day my friend saw him at the airport, I was excited and asked her how did he look and she said like a little old man. I was so disappointed because in my mind he’s always youthful and vibrant.

At 35, I understand Drew's rage. I feel it too! There is underlying misogyny and ageism everywhere,,, even when ppl say something like "You look great for your AGE" - why can't we just say "You look GREAT" ??!!

Hair goes prematurely gray. I’m letting my face/skin tell me when it’s time to go gray. If the only thing making me look older is my hair, I’m dyeing it. I don’t want to cross the other line either, though, where my face shows my age and I’m not fooling anyone with the silly looking dye job.
My mom owns a bookstore. She tried going grey, but went back to dying her hair again. She said people would come in and just ignore what she was saying or act like she was invisible. She definitely noticed a difference in how she was perceived. I found that very troubling.

It's so strange about grey hair - my grandma had a strand of grey hair at her early 20s & she always said she felt beautiful & unique ✨
Some women look PHENOMENAL with gray hair. I think it often looks better/healthier than dyed hair, and it can really soften the face. I can't WAIT to go all gray when I'm older.

Yup, I had a similar shaming experience as SJP only from male members of my own family -- all older or my age! Unbelievable!
I am 44 and my mom is 73. I can only wish in my dreams to look as beautiful as she does inside and out... joyous, glowy, stylish, sexy, energetic and vibrant...(no fillers or Botox) at her age and all the years leading up to it.
Many of my friends have stopped dying their hair and look great. I started dying mine as soon as I saw a few strands of grey. Last year I grew the last of the grey out and love it.
Very freeing to go from worrying about how you look for half an hour in front of the mirror before you let the world see you, to not even looking in the mirror at all.
Dressing for practicality, no make up, no jewels, no following fashion trends, no fancy haircuts.
Her beauty is classic! She'll always be beautiful because of who she is.

I wore men's cologne in the '90s off and on, especially anything citrusy and woody. I've worn an Hermes perfume that is more unisex for well over a decade now. I can't stand women's perfume at all and thought I was the only one!

I have to be honest and admit I hate grey on my head! I used to pick out the strands when it first started and pull them out. The grey looks great on some people and some others, not so much. I have a cousin who looks fantastic, totally silver but another cousin who looks dreadful with totally grey hair. I don't follow the tabloids at all, never did, never will so it's to each his own I say! Thanks Drew for keeping it really REAL and not so shallow, you're my hero!! ;)
