Anna Ortiz from ugly Betty once said when she was a struggling actress/waitress Drew would come in and was kind to everyone and would always tip 100 percent of her bill. • @Izzy-cp8yt
      @Izzy-cp8yt Před rokem +15

      @@JazzyB9481 it's not that simple. You have to make yourself a safe person for your kids to talk to if you ever want them to actually share the deep things in their head. By the time I was in middle school I knew I couldn't talk to my mom about the things I was thinking, because there was so much judgement and shaming if I didn't behave exactly the way she wanted me to. By the time I was in high school I was leading two different lives - the one she saw, and the one my friends saw. There were so many things I was dealing with as a teenager that she will probably never know about, because by the time I was dealing with those things I knew the only true support system I had was my friends, because going to my mom meant more judgment, more shame, and likely losing privileges over stupid things. So yeah, theoretically the answer is "talk to them", but that only works if prior to that you've made yourself someone they can feel safe telling the truth to. Otherwise you're just going to get "I'm fine, I'm okay".

    she is one of those truly special and unique people that walk this earth. I'm only a few years younger than her so she's been a part of my life since we were both little girls. I often got compared to her as well and told I looked like her! Some people even used to call me Drew. She's just such a sweet, genuine, and kind person. nothing fake about her and so much light shines out of her

    The childhood loneliness part... so relatable. Unfortunately, I'm 41 and lonely in a different way. It's been the story of my life. My kids helped, as Drew said, but it's still so pervasive. Drew is a ray of sunshine, giving me hope, however. I Inspirational. 🥰🥰🥰

      Try and seek out like minded people, find FB groups with similar hobbies. It’s not easy…. But it’s a good start…. Eventually, if you put yourself out there to connect with people enough, you will make real solid connections!! I’m 44, btw…. Been divorced, have two great kids and am blessed to have family and friends that support me and give me strength

      Same. I had a terrible childhood as well and even now in my 40's, I struggle with loneliness too. I've never been able to pull myself up out of my financial status and that's made it tough. Thank heavens I am good at budgeting, I'm just not good at marketing myself and getting those higher level jobs that pay so much more and I've struggled because of it. Oh the life of an introvert and a Mom and Dad who did not understand you at all... soooo much baggage left over from childhood that I'm still trying to work through and process.

      @lo_341 Unfortunately back in the 2000s it was less about medical need and more about having parents who could pay. The troubled teen industry heavily exploited scared parents and made millions doing it.

      I totally feel you on that! Being a teen in the 2000s was so hard and a whirlwind of craziness and immorality! We were victims of a broken system that took advantage of any teen who was so called not normal or troubled. I have had old wounds resurface from those years and it’s been so hard :(
