This was a staple in our home since the 60’s . This , tuna casserole and on Sundays Pot Roast .
We didn’t have a lot of money so those meals lasted for a couple of days . Never got tired of them .
Thanks Mom and Dad .
Same!!
Me too
And did your Mom make hash if there were any leftovers?
I love him 😂😂😭😭 “looking mighty fine” He did greatttt
Bro, everyone grew up eating this in the 60's, 70's and early 80's. My Pop made it, absolutely delicious. Fed us for two days (family of 5). Pops actually added some celery which was real good. Thanks for the recipe, going to make this.
Yeah my grandma and my mother made that as far back as I can remember and I was a kid in the seventies and my grandma called it slumgullion.
YES! 😊
We were a poor Navy family in the 60s and 70s and my mom made goulash all the time. A cheap meal made a lot and was filling. I love goulash
I remember mom making this too. We didn’t always have meat in it but was still delicious!
My family still eats this every now and then lol
When I was a teenager I worked on Saturdays for my uncle who was the head mechanic for Amour Star in South San Francisco. I steam cleaned the diesels and paid for my first car. I will always remember my aunt bringing huge bowls of goulash to the yard for our lunch. It was great . Will always remember that goulash on Saturday afternoons.
The beauty of it is, you can improvise on the recipe and it is always a great comfort food. Great on nights when the snow won't let up. Warms the bones!
I'm Canadian and I grew up eating this! My mother didn't add as many spices but same idea 😋
I grew up on goulash. It was always yummy. But mom never really used allot of peppers. We had to cook as cheap as possible due to mom being a single mom of two. But what she did make was always delicious.
I grew up eating this but we called it macaroni.
Mine too.
@@dakmycat3688 fancy macaroni there ! my macaroni was literally just noodles, goulash has always been a fav
she prolly didn’t like peppers they aren’t expensive
what is a prolly I mean I know what a trolley is but not a prolly just curious
Wow!! Well done!! Haven’t had goulash in decades, takes me back to the good old days !
Gonna makes some this week.
Thanks
I've been making that recipe for over 40 years and I have to tell you that's flawless. You completely nailed this recipe anybody that tries this is going to have their mind blown out of the water.
East Tennessee girl here. I love goulash! Its a all around good comfort food.
Thanks for bringing me back to the good old days.
Most of my family had this growing up due to being poor for awhile but it truely taste fantastic . when I moved to Montana we didn't get the privilege to live near stores and fast foods so most meals were home made . up north the goulash was basically a ton of left over food u had prior from the week . if we didn't have ground beef we used ground deer or elk . sometimes even used left over sloppy joe meat or left over spaghtie meat sauce . it is always a comforting meal in the winter . easy to feed kids and families
"Craaaaaacked Black Pepper"!!!
Love it!!!
My mom used to make this. I like mine with hot sauce and cornbread. Yum!
My dad passed away when I was 9. My mom was a single mom of 3 and she always made this dish. We used onion soup mix for the seasoning, elbow Mac, tomatoes, green beans and if was cooked in 20 minutes. It was filling ,hot and never any leftovers. We ate it a lot as it was cheap and easy to do.
Sorry about your Father..The cheap easy meals are sometimes the best..Thanks for commenting
My Mom made it as a way of stretching our food budget. Also my dad made it sometimes when he was on leave. I started doing as well, because it was cheap and easy to make. Great when you have corn bread on the side.
Oh no I made it today and I didn't think about corn bread I will have to make some tomorrow there's a lot leftover
Well damn!! I've been searching numerous recipes for American goulash and I must say that this is the only recipe that stands out for me and probably is the one I'm gonna try.
It looks ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!😋❤
The best kind of goooooood.
As a Texan/Tennessean, not only do I love your accent and descriptions, but your recipes are great ! Thanks so much for sharing these, great channel ! 🇺🇸🇺🇸
I'm making this right now and it smells fantastic! I love how your videos are short, to the point, but somehow you still show all the details. Great job buddy. I've made a couple of your recipes and they always turn out "mighty fine" lol. Thank you!
Thank you hope you enjoy..let me know what you think
How did it taste? Like the classic recipe?
Greetings from North Michigan USA and thanks for a great, to the point, short video without all the BS. My Grandmother was from Dunlap, TN. Grandpa from Carthage, TN. Thanks for sharing.
In California, my Grandma called it Italian Delight. When we did not have cheese, she would sometimes add sour cream. A can of corn is also a nice addition.
My mother made Goulash when I was a kid and it was delicious but your version seems even better. Thanks for sharing.
I just made this recipe tonight and it was so delicious! It will definitely become one of my favorite go-to recipes. Thanks for posting it. 👍😊

I'm from NC... southern to the bone🆗👌 but every time he said "cracked black pepper" I died laughing🤣
The Gem04 - LOL! So did we ! My wife were laughing our butt off at that ! I’m a native Texan, and a lng-time Tennessean, so you might say I have as southern of an accent as posdible. So, listening to him say “cracked black pepper” and “pap-ah-reek-ah” (noun/dried spice from sweet pepper varieties) - LOVE this channel !
My family loves goulash especially Mom. She always would say...I love that stuff an Daddy (her dad) made the best! Pawpaw did do it right. Great recipe and video

That looks delicious! My housemate used to make this exact same recipe except I don't think that I remember ever seeing him use canned beef broth in his recipe. I guess I will have to use it in this one to give it a bit of a rich beef flavor. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

Your #1 NC fan here! This looks amazing. I make mine the same way. I place the cheese on the top last, place the lid back on and just let it melt. Delicious! I will try the parmesan cheese next time. Thanks for sharing!
I’m 75 and grew up on goulash and still make it. I’ve always had it with bread and peanut butter.
When I tell you I could smell this cooking... man... I grew up on this!! I didn't think I'd ever find a recipe to match my grandmother's but this is it!! We knew it was goulash and would call it that if people were over for supper. But as a family we called it Goup. I will be making this for supper this weekend!! Thank you so very much for this!!
I grew up eating this too in southern wv. This is right up there in my top 10 comfort foods! The only thing you did different from me is adding the jalapeno, but I will be adding that next time I make this. Thanks for a great video!
my mom showed me how to cook that when i was a little girl and watching him make that just took me back as a child Thank you.
EXCELLENT Video... I have been cooking this for over 50 years...
DO NOT DRAIN THE MEAT... that is where most of the flavor is...
Thank you for sharing this video
Thank you 🙏
I like how you cook and explain everything while you're cooking and this looks delicious!!
Yummy. Perfect for cold weather. Freezes beautifully.
Hello Brother - I was born in Kentucky in the mid 1960’s. But then we got moved to the northeast. My mom made goulash every week. We had it with bread and apple sauce (and sometimes canned green beans). I’m looking forward to trying your recipe! Thanks for sharing!!!
I grew up in Massachusettes in the 70’s and we had this all the time but in my neck of the woods it was called American chop suey. Exactly the same recipe but with a lot less spices.
Family in Kingsport, TN, and Scott County, VA. Lived down home every summer until I graduated high school. I was born NW OH, daddy moved there to work in GM Plant. This recipe sounds great, good comfort food, been 20 degrees at night here

I used to beg my grandma to make this for me all the time and she told me I can’t eat goulash everyday lol 😂😂💯
My mother baked this (not fancy). I never baked it. But, she grew up w/this dish and to make her happy my 2 siblings and ate it. She only made this when my father wasn't home. She just loved it and we thought it was cute. She was in a Nursing Home for several years - she made a request to have the cook prepare it.
Looks real yummy

Grew up in and still live in Knoxville TN. This is still one of my very favorite meals. Especially this time of year as it's cold outside. In fact we got some light snow here yesterday. Cheers!

Johnson city, TN here! I make this all the time, my family loves it!
Johnson city TN me to..Hello neighbor its definitely good stuff
My recipe is similar, however, I call it "picadillo" 😋. I do not add all that extra spice stuff. I use adobo, sofrito, cumin, cilantro & call it a happy day. Adding red beans is a nice touch too. Elbow noodles are good, so is white rice. 😋
I grew up on this, and it was always my favorite. Thanks for a great recipe.
I made it! Just like I promised! Delicious! Have been searching for a good recipe and now my search is over! Thanks!
Awesome..I'm Really Happy you liked it..Thank You for the feedback.

My mom always made goulash and we grew up having it probably a couple of times a month!!! Instead of the cans of tomato sauce my mother always used tomato juice. Everything else was the same. I like putting red and green peppers in mine… sooo yummy❣️
