Actually, it is correct that theoretically you can miscarry on birth control. There’s stories of people getting pregnant on birth control. It does have a 2-3% failure rate. Most birth control works in 2 ways- it dries up cervical mucus so sperm cannot live long enough to fertilize the egg and it thins the lining of the uterus. It doesn’t stop conception. So you could conceive and miscarry bc the lining would be so thin that it couldn’t hold a baby. The woman would not know she miscarried bc the baby could be so small. In my work as a fertility care teacher we encourage women to wait to achieve pregnancy until they are 3-6 months post pill to give the uterus time to strengthen back up. So, if she got pregnant And actually carried the baby it could be possible that her uterus was too weak to carry the baby to term from being on the pill. Pope Paul VI institute has done this research if you’d like to verify. And also if you look up how birth control works you’ll see it just manipulates hormones and doesn’t necessarily stop conception in every situation. This evidenced by the fact there are cases of people still getting pregnant while on birth control.

“Saying there’s too many children is like saying there’s too many flowers.” Well, if you don’t have enough money to buy soil, water, and gardening equipment nessecary to keep the flowers nourished and you don’t have enough time to care for all the flowers properly, then yeah, there are too many flowers.

My aunt was of the quiverfull mindset and had 11 kids and DEFINITELY not enough resources to provide sufficient attention or quality of life. Every time my mom asked the kids what they wanted for Christmas, the answer was always food. Dry goods like cereal or canned soup. Imagine being 12 and asking for box potatoes for Christmas. The older kids did all of the parenting and disappeared off on "mission trips" as soon as they could, to places like Siberia and South Africa, and made every effort to live as far away as possible when they came back. Clearly, the soil not only couldn't support the flowers, but was actively toxic to them. Now the younger kids are grown up, the husband is dead, she's converted to a pentacostal cult, and none of her kids want anything to do with her. They're all in a hell of a lot of therapy, too. 😮‍💨

The thing you have to understand is that in cults everyone is brainwashed to protect the cult and its power structure. Cults are really all about hyper-controlling members and the members themselves are brainwashed to participate. Downplaying and covering up abuse protects the cult's image. Pressuring members to keep them in line protects the cult structure. Rewarding the people in charge and protecting them keeps the leaders loyal to whoever is running the cult. That is why they will claim they want to "protect" women and children by controlling every aspect of their lives, but will cover up when men in the cult abuse them behind closed doors. The men are the leaders, so they will always be protected unless it threatens the cult's image. The blame for men's actions will be shifted onto women/girls because it's their "job" in the cult to protect and submit to men. The men will continue to be given access to power through their control and power over women and their children because it keeps the men loyal.

This video seems to have a problem with getting the facts wrong. They were wrong about the family selling their home (what they sold was one of their real estate properties that they don't live in), and they mentioned women not being allowed to wear makeup in IBLP. I don't know if IBLP specifically has a stance, but the Duggars clearly don't mind as their daughters wore makeup even while living in the home and it was never mentioned that they weren't allowed to.

When he was 14, my step son was caught molesting an 8 year old. His Mom and I aren't fans of each other, but I will always give her massive credit for calling us and getting him out of her home to protect the younger children. We also contacted law enforcement, even though it broke her heart. She did what she needed to do to protect the younger children in her home. I was afraid that having a probation officer coming to my home would effect me professionaly, especially as the first one chose to contact my supervisor's boss to inform her of his charges and that he was living in my home because we work for the same agency. There is NO excuse for SA, CP, or covering up that behavior.

His children would have told their mother and other family members by now, if their father was inappropriately touching them. There is way too many people being put in jail for demonic false accusations, and when they are found innocent years later, these false accusers (after making tons of money off of all their demonic multiple kangaroo court proceedings), don’t have to pay anything for their lies and deceit! The public pays millions of dollars and order the evildoers to remain silent if they loose their compensation for the evil done to them!

yep. In my experience, if someone brings up that being a p**o is like being gay, equates it to being gay, or says people might get "confused" about p**dophilia if gay marriage is allowed, regardless of their orientation and gender, you need to run. They are telling you the only reason they think p**dophilia is wrong is that people disapprove of it. they are telling you they do not understand the difference between consensual relationships between adults (or teens of the same age, as many people do start experiencing attraction before reaching legal adulthood...certainly we don't disagree with that when a 15 year old boy has a crush on one of the female cheerleaders) and an adult having a relationship with a child (or, at least, do not feel that distinction is at all important). No sane person who's not a p**do or brainwashed by one has any confusion...even if they aren't exactly vocal gay right supporters they still aren't confused about what's different...if they don't think any reasonable person can tell the difference freaking run and never let children near them. they are telling you how their mind works.

I'm 48 now & I still find myself struggling with the outlandish teachings. SA is rampant in these types of cults. The pastor of my church would "counsel" women of the church, married or not. He even tried to "counsel" my mom, who was his son's wife. It didn't matter. If he wanted...he took. I don't think he ever did anything to young girls though. You see & hear things as a young child, no matter how much adults think you don't & it causes damage. Sometimes for your whole life. These cults need to be shut down for the safety & sanity of the children. Oh yeah...the pastor of this church, my grandfather, went to seminary school & was close friends with Jim Jones of Guyana fame. That ought to tell you what we were dealing with.

As someone whose whole family were also in the IBLP "church" (cough, cult), it really horribly damaged both the women and the men in very different ways.
There were 6 of us kids, 3 girls and 3 boys, home schooled and deeply indoctrinated into the cult from a young age. I still remember watching the creationist "science and history" VHS tapes provided with the home schooling packets.
We lived on a remote self sufficient organic farm. I had no friends my own age aside from my siblings and some cousins we got to see maybe once a year. My dad would host "home church" every sunday, and my mom home schooled all of us under the direction/jurisdiction of my father. We would take road trips to huge week-long conventions hosted by Bill Gothard where the young boys were placed in a pseudo militaristic housing/discipline and the girls were sent to essentially school lectures and activities that involved bible lessons and IBLP services that would teach us how to act, what to wear, and our responsibilities not to arouse our male family members.
We were not allowed to watch television or be exposed to external media that my father didn't approve. We weren't even allowed to watch Disney movies because they had magic in them. All of our books were Christian coded, including even scientific style textbooks.
My mom eventually was alarmed by the rampant and hushed sexual abuse and crimes within the cult and recognized that behavior beginning to manifest in her sons toward her daughters and divorced my dad, finished her teaching degree, and did her best to get her children out of the cult. I was 13 when my mom, sisters, and I moved from our giant 33 acre, 3 story family farmhouse to a 1100 square foot half acre home lot in a neighboring town with my mom, going from an anesthesiologist's income (dad) to a single teacher's (mom) with 4 dependents. We lived on spaghetti-o's and tuna sandwiches, and yet I still remember it being the best year of my life. It was like a breath of air after being underwater.
The 4 youngest of us joined public school, but my 2 oldest brothers were already adults and graduated from home school by then. My oldest brother suffered the most abuse/influence from the cult and joined the military, stayed for about a decade but fell into alcoholism and schizophrenia, and he is now in prison for sex crimes. The rest of us managed to slowly unlearn and heal (still healing lol, we are all in weekly therapy), but at 28 now, I still catch myself falling back into that severely self sacrificing mentality of being inferior and responsible for the emotions and reactions of men. I have zero contact with my father who is now remarried with a new family and living in another state.
The rest of my family has all sort of rallied with my mother; my other brothers' relationships with my father are arms length, and when we do get together it's with my mom.
I could go on for pages in more detail on the experiences we all had.
This cult caused damage like this to hundreds of families just like mine. I'm glad to see attention being given to it through a candid lens because it absolitely was a cult, and it ruined people's lives.

I am not a religious person but I am a spiritual person. I froze to death around 6 years ago. I have a do not Resuscitate order but my brother in-law gave them my wrong last name so the hospital couldn't find my medical records and brought me back.
I used to be terrified of dying. I no longer am. I have an incurable nerve disease that every nerve in my body sends pain signals 24 hours a day. The changed the laws for pain meds so I now have nothing for the pain.
When I was dead though, I remember being at complete peace and there was no more pain. Until they thawed me out that is. My blood crystallized so the couldn't get an IV in me so the drilled a hole in my shin to put an IV into my bone marrow. I threw one Dr. Out of the ER. I was not happy at all. My regular Dr. Came and I allowed her in the room. The only family member I didn't throw out. Was my mom. I didn't allow my sister's in or my son. My daughter just didn't care.
My mom told me that even after they thawed me out, and I was alive again, my son looked at my older sister and asked her to handle my house and everything because both him and my daughter didn't want to deal with it.
My mom back handed him so hard he fell out of his chair. She informed him I was alive and I live alone so he has no say in anything and he better keep his mouth shut! Well, he kept his mouth shut and his head down. If someone asked him a question, he actually flinched as he answered incase my mom back handed him again.

I heard someone say (I am not American fyi). "In America they have the concept of parental rights. While this seems innocuous, this term has been used extensively by extreme religious groups to state that the ideologies of the parents and the right for the parent to own the child comes above the child's well-being [they then went on to use the Duggers and IBLP as an exact example of this]. Within this view, children are less than pets, more akin to objects meant to be used for their parents gain until freed as broken 18 year olds. Rather than adopting such ideas, we should strive to be a country of children's rights, where the role of the parent is seen as that of being charged with the responsibility of raising the child based on what the child needs, regardless of the parent's ideology". I think about that every time I hear people be like "parental rights" now, that the Duggers is what that means, that the "right" to teach kids that if they are SAed it's probably their fault rather than holding their abuser accountable is what that means. Making tones of money off your kid by putting them onto a show they are too young to consent to then spending all that money is what that means. disowning your kid because they happen to fall in love with someone of the same gender or because they get caught kissing someone or because they refuse to marry who you tell them to at 17, blanket training, locking your child in a room till they break down and conform...that might not be what "parental rights" means for everyone, but that's the dark, real side of what it is - parental rights to treat a child in ways you wouldn't treat a dog. Parents don't have rights to control their kids, children have rights to expect parents to be involved in their lives in a healthy way. And while I would say children's rights involve parents being involved and informed of what's going on in their child's life so that they can help guide them and provide that support the child has a right to (so there is a lot of times the child's rights and parental involvement overlap), I think right off the bat now any parent who makes things about their rights to the child over their child's rights to basic safety and humanity - well, I see Duggars. I see unfit parents.

I think it's the whimpy baby voice she uses that made it repulsive. Why she talks like that I don't know but it's very, very annoying.
She probably does it to show her 'submission' to Jim Boob.

I was her only child of her own, though i have 2 half sisters who she also abused. I was in my late teens when she started watching the show so she was upset she couldn't raise me the way the duggars raised their children. she passed away 9 years ago. when the news of josh duggar came out I honestly wished she was still alive just so I could rub it in her face.

I got married at age 20. I wanted 10 children. We had 5 in 8 years. I used to be a Christian BTW. I was diagnosed with MS in 2001. We decided that having even one child more would be extremely selfish (10 children would have been way too many but that's how many I wanted at the time) decent parents don't continue to have children when the children will be neglected. It wouldn't only have been selfish to have another child after my diagnosis. It would have been unethical and wrong.

I hate how the mom as a child, was a tomboy expressing herself but forced her own girls to fill a very tight restricted gender and behavioural role. We had issues in Northern Europe with immigrants esp from Afganistan who assaulted & molested girls & women in public.
Suddenly many many women started to be molested in different concerts. All of a sudden Sweden among others, couldn't have a concert or something without many many women being victimised. They immigrant men felt it was their right to try to get inside your panties when you stood in the crowd trying to see a performance. Whatever they wanted to do with you they would do with a grin.
Same in waterparks & public swimming pools, gyms even in the library a woman could t be safe. This culminated with what happened in Germany at New years eve, Köln among other places where a big crowd of middle Eastern men gathered with one common goal. Try to single out women, surround them & then rape & assault them right there on the spot. This was planned & talked about on social media before they made it happen. So they travelled all over germany to be a part of the assault..
They have this sick "rape game" in the middle east were it's seen as ok to go after women in public. I dont remember what it's called.
But they tried to excuse this by the men not being used to see a free idenpendent woman or even any woman out in public without being hidden inside a mobile tent.

That is the VERY reason Muslim women and girls are made to wear an abaya and hijab! If a woman shows arms or ankles, or her curves let alone her hair to anyone male outside of immediate family, of she's r@63d, they think she asked for it. 😡 No accountability for the males whatsoever, so this messed up thinking prevails in pretty much all religions.

Lets face it, right from Adam and Eve we’ve been taught that women are just temptresses and that men are helpless against their allure. It’s the basis of many, many religions. Obviously it’s just coincidence that religious rules and texts are almost exclusively written by men

In the Bible it's the opposite, Christian men are expected to take control of themselves, not let lust rule them. I think Quiverfull and Goddard has sort of become it's own religious doctrine, steeped heavily in religious legalism.

That's HALF true! The Duggars use Bill Gothard's IBLP cult educational materials instead of the educational materials from the Local, State, and Federal Governments, and that's NOT a "proper" education! Homeschooling can be a good thing IF it's done right, and being part of a cult instead of a REAL church is the worst way!

Just starting this, but want to say (hey, multiple comments from users will help you in the algorithm :) ): As a Christian, the first day i saw that show advertised, I--and everyone I knew--could see EXACTLY what they were. If you have any clarity in the different denominations and cultish subsects of Christianity, you know what you're seeing the moment you see a zoo of a family like that. You don't even need to hear them speak, you know they are exactly what the Duggars ended up being exposed for. It's why we never watched the show, and were utterly unsurprised over the years, as things came out about them.
